Which word does nobody seem able to spell?

My vote would have to go to 'definitely' - seems only about 1 in 10 get that right.

oh lord - even worse! I should have guessed.

I think diarrhoea is partly a problem because it's spelled differently in the US (diarrhea) and I don't know about anyone else, but my web browser tries to correct my spelling using the US dictionary.

It always makes me do a double-take every time I type it out as I think, ok, have I got that wrong?

ds (4.10) was helped by a TA to spell a word at school yesterday, it was "suprise". It was not a one off as several children had spelt it this way!

Reading a book to Ds tonight I realised that I have spelt and pronounced anemone wrong all my life. I thought it was anenome. Although now I have written it I realise I have always said 'anenome' and written 'anemone'.

Talking of anemone, I know someone who knows she says Candem Town, but can't stop herself. No matter how often she rehearses it mentally, it always comes out wrong.

One of my students wrote recently in an essay that someone was being put on a peddle stool (meaning pedestal). I laughed for ages over the mental image that created.
