I'm sure you've all got your particular teeth-clenching, fingernails-on-blackboard nemesis.

Today's offering: they did "drawring" in Art.

I will break him of that habit. I will!

My friend told me today her hand was frobbing.... It's fucking THrobbing

DanyellasDonkey · 23/03/2017 21:14

My cousin once asked if we all wanted to club together to buy a "reef" for a relative's funeral Hmm

Minimammoth · 23/03/2017 21:25

Conshoomer. Instead of consumer.
Nothink instead of nothing.

Ontopofthesunset · 23/03/2017 21:37

But 'a' after 'w' is usually pronounced 'wo-' - was, wash, watch, Washington, wan, swab, swallow..... so wasp is not ann exception.

And it is 'pussy' - just pronounced differently like 'lead' and 'lead'.

IvyLeagueUnderTheSea · 23/03/2017 21:44

I think the thing with 'pussy' On is that unlike lead, read, wind, wound its one more way of reading it is far more common than the other.

Hmm -
The wound was very pussy.
The pussy cat wound around my legs.

The English language is a damn nightmare.

TroysMammy · 23/03/2017 22:21

It looks so funny when it is written that someone has a pussy toe or a pussy ear or heaven forbid a pussy penis. In no way am I saying having anything pussy is funny.

IvyLeagueUnderTheSea · 23/03/2017 22:29

Come on, pussy penis is a bit funny.

GreatFuckability · 23/03/2017 23:21

liney- cervical has two meanings, one related to your cervix and is pronounced SUH-vi-cal, the other related to your spine and is suh-VI-cal. so the pronounciation is very important.

Smidge001 · 24/03/2017 07:52

Apologies if it was deliberate, but it's proNUNciation!

GreatFuckability · 24/03/2017 18:23

ha! yes smidge, fair cop!! I have no excuse and I will go and give myself a long hard talking to! hahaha!

Is the word pussy in the OED with a meaning of oozing with pus/pus-filled etc etc? Isn't the word only pronounced poossy, not pus-see. Ivy???

VintagePerfumista · 25/03/2017 06:32

The difference is in the U.

pus- like but/some/does/sun
puss- like cook/butcher/book

Unless you're northern like me, in which case, they are the same. Grin
