oohh thats a really nice idea stretch. I hadn't thought of something like that. Will have to have a look around to see what I could include in it

hughjarssss · 26/08/2008 12:10

I've just found these

Which would probably work out cheaper for me than doing it myself and I can use my own words]]

I could give them alongside the hamper, thanks for the inspiration Stretch [smie]

stretchmarkqueen · 26/08/2008 12:48

Ooooh! They're good!! I like the idea of buying only what you need! Not going to break the bank!

hughjarssss · 26/08/2008 13:49

Need to sort out Champagne, flutes and a ice bucket as well!

What is everyone on a budget doing about champagne? I really can't afford to spend a lot

stretchmarkqueen · 26/08/2008 13:55

Where are you having the reception?

We are having it at our local restaurant (beefeater). It's a lovely place and that's where me and dp met when we worked there!! They do bottles of sparkling wine for £15, jacobs creek iirc. You can get 6 glasses out of it as opposed to 4 out of a bottle of wine! They will provide the ice buckets etc..

Sainsbury's do nice bottles of sparkling. Does it have to be champers? here

stretchmarkqueen · 26/08/2008 13:56

of course it would help if the link worked properly!! Just go to "off license"!!

hughjarssss · 26/08/2008 14:03

After a lot of hassle and problems (I have only just recovered from the headache it gave me) we have decided to celebrate after the wedding with a champagne breakfast in our chalet with just our friends.

Later that night we will go out for a meal to a nice restaurant with all of dp's family and our friends to celebrate together.

I know this sounds strange but then so are dp's family!

I need to sort out the champagne for after the wedding. Whats the difference between champers and sparkling wine >

stretchmarkqueen · 26/08/2008 14:22

Your wedding sounds lovely. I orignally wanted a small (gretna green) wedding, as I am quite shy! BUT things kinda get out of hand!!

I think champagne is only allowed to be called that if it actually comes from the Champagne region of France?? So probably not much difference.

I love sparkling wine!! Lucky you, there will be no corkage, and you can get whatever bottles you like!!

I really should have been born rich!!

So more details!! Am very nosey!!

hughjarssss · 26/08/2008 14:36

Well .. loves his family but couldn't face a week of staying with them - they are quite odd (esp. his mum) and he decided for everyone's sanity we should stay else where. I left it to him to sort out as he knows the area. I was expecting a nice cottage - I got a chalet!

Our friends are coming down for the whole weekend, one couple are staying with us and the other have booked a chalet for the weekend.

I have a white dress (I got a bargin!), dp has a morning suit - so we're all dressing up and I fear we are going to look very strange leaving the haven site - I cringe just thinking about it!!

Afterwards we are a champagne breakfast (which I have to organise) and then a nice meal in the evening

TillyScoutsmum · 26/08/2008 14:43

Hello all, I'm back from a few days away and have wedding withdrawal symptoms

Hugh - your wedding sounds like its going to be lovely - really chilled and intimate. I like !

As stretch said - Champagne is just sparkling wine specifically from the Champagne region of France. Cremant is sparkling wine from anywhere in France outside of the Champagne region (and imho is actually nicer ....and cheaper as well...). Cava is sparkling wine from Spain and you can get others from US and New World. Unless your friends are especially fussy, I don't think Champagne is totally necessary. Its soooo much more expensive than other stuff

My invites are out and I've had my first 2 rsvp's - hoorah !

hughjarssss · 26/08/2008 14:50

I've found this champagne

Does anyone know if this is nice and a good price?
I must admit I like the idea of having one bottle of champagne to celebrate with, for when we get back .. My five minutes of being posh

hughjarssss · 26/08/2008 14:53

Hi Tilly! Yay for your replies!

I missed out on the RSVP bit - must be exicing!

TillyScoutsmum · 26/08/2008 15:30

I am excited - so sad really - I think DP thinks I've gone stark raving bonkers - it was from his sister and he said "well, its not like we didn't know she was coming ?"... No - that's not the point ...

Tattinger is lovely - get some lovely strawberries to go with it - I love champagne and strawberries - make me feel all "Pretty Woman" (but without the prostitution bit obviously )

hughjarssss · 26/08/2008 15:33

LOL! [GRIN]

teafortwo · 27/08/2008 11:55

hugerassss - That champagne looks lovely. Please please remember AS SOON as you get to your luxury castle chalet put the champagne in the fridge. It needs to be cool cool cool to really be delicious!

hughjarssss · 27/08/2008 12:12

Good tip T42! Thanks

hughjarssss · 27/08/2008 14:22

saralou - help!!!

How do you put this wrap on - I keep putting it on and I'm ending up with no sleeves

teafortwo · 27/08/2008 19:26

I am feeling fed up!!!!

My friend who I was supposed to be having an intimate 'hen weekend' with (we are doing everything inside out... baby, wedding then hen weekend ) well... she has said she doesn't want to come anymore. We were planning on meeting over there because we don't live near each other... but she is fretting about flying over there and me not turning up because my flight is cancelled and her being stuck in a city she doesn't know alone .

So...Needed some TSM&co sympathy as I was really looking forward to spending sometime with her and in a different atmosphere!

Actually even just writing this down has cheered me up a bit! I can see how people end up talking about all sorts of things on here!!!!

TillyScoutsmum · 27/08/2008 20:45

Awww T42 - sympathy from me ..... Such a shame when you look forward to something and people let you down. I have a few friends (who I love to bits) but who are a little bit.....errrrm...unpredictable.

Come over here and come on a spa day with me Have mentioned it to a few people for my hen and they're all moaning about it being too expensive so close to Christmas

OP posts:
hughjarssss · 28/08/2008 01:31

T42, Sorry you've been let down!
Join Tilly for a spa day - sounds like it will be a fab day!

Roughly 2 weeks to go for my wedding and I've started to think about the finer details.

I want red confetti for everyone to throw, should I buy red rose petals or the sparkly plastic stuff?

teafortwo · 28/08/2008 09:46

Thank you TSM and hughjarassss - 'unpredictable' is a perfect description.

Actually I am mostly very very cross at myself for feeling so down about it. It is such candyfloss in a world of true sadness!

So today I need to do something fun with dd to cheer me up a bit! Maybe we will go to the World Art gallery near us!

Actually... What do you think? I was thinking I might ask dh if we could use that time I had put aside to go away with my friend to have a little honeymoon instead with him and of course WITH dd!!! - Now that would be really great fun!

And p.s.... Hughjarasss -I would go for rose petals everytime. Classy and good for the environment!

hughjarssss · 28/08/2008 10:03

Brilliant idea about the honeymoon!
I can't wait till dd is old enough for me to have days out with her like that - hope you have a lovely day T42

Where do I get rose petals from? Can I ask the florist whio is doing my flowers?

TillyScoutsmum · 28/08/2008 10:28

Hugh - agree about confetti here is good You can do little cones for your guests - I think they look lovely or your florist would probably be able to sort them as well

T42 - a little honeymoon sounds great - oooh - where do you fancy ? Don't be cross with yourself for being upset - there are much worse things in life but at the same time, its not nice to be let down by people. Its one of my pet hates

Well- the flowergirl dresses are here and I like them. I'm a bit concerned I should have got the bigger size for dd but they're from the States and the shipping and return costs are ££££, so I'm hoping this one will do. I've told her she's not allowed to grow any more than an inch or so in the next 3 months

OP posts:
hughjarssss · 28/08/2008 11:44

That is a lovely site Tilly, I have ordered coloured rose petals and cones.

It's awkward buying for little ones isn't it - dd is ten months and I've left it to the last minute because I just don't know how much she'll grow.

T42 - tell all about your honeymoon ideas!

MerlinsBeard · 28/08/2008 12:15
