I do big parties for my twins as they have a fair few friends between them, my ds just has normal sized parties though

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 15/10/2006 19:16

ok so my eldest is only 2, but the most we have is my dad, my brother, my SIL and us!

Like they care anyway really!

Its when you invite the whole classs so not to offend any parents before you get into a clique!

I have a real problem in that my kids grandparents always want to come, i hate it my mil is very embaressing and has no social skills, so will happily talk about how a little girl in my ds class went to her nursey and her dad got put away for you know toucjh=hing and stuff, when there are a group of mums all listening at the next table. It puts me off doing parties to be honest, although last year we just forgot to tell her!

Tinker · 15/10/2006 19:19

Am coming out the other side now with my 9 year old so am going to keep the 16 month old's very small. Hate them.

EnidVorhees · 15/10/2006 19:19

we had 25 yesterday

AND glittery knitwear

AND grandparents

Gingerbear · 15/10/2006 19:20

When DD was 4, I did a joint party with another mum at nursery - her DS and my DD had the same friends and birthdays within 2a day of each other. We had over 30 there, but had a fab entertainer and halved the costs.
Oh, and grannies were there too.
No glittery knitwear though.

nikkie · 15/10/2006 19:20

Oh we do the mixing thing but there is always a couple from each and everyone tends to know each other anyway!

EnidVorhees · 15/10/2006 19:20

oh

AND mixed groups of friends

nursery/ballet/reception at another school

Greensleeves · 15/10/2006 19:21

curmudgeonly old fish

Quadrofiendia · 15/10/2006 19:22

I hate the mixing thing, normally means I've got at least ten kids before we start on school friends, I didn't invite my mates kids this year, just didn't tell them, and then put my foot in it at a later date
I fookin hate parties

TwigTwoolett · 15/10/2006 19:22

disagree 4 year olds can have 30 friends

its when you get older you get picky

nikkie · 15/10/2006 19:23

My Mam goes but she does the kitchen stuff while I do the entertainment!

EnidVorhees · 15/10/2006 19:24

I did nearly have a nervous breakdown about an hour before

but it was fabbo in the end

iota · 15/10/2006 19:26

people who have 30+ to parties are a lot braver than me

QueenPeaHead · 15/10/2006 19:29

ooh ooh enid, WE had a party yesterday!
15 6 yr old boys, out in the woods, lighting bonfires and toasting sausages marshmallows. and then having a waterfight. best party ever - NO clearing up! Hurrah!

and nary a glittery sweater for miles

Cappuccino · 15/10/2006 19:31

dd had 30 friends at her 4th birthday

and we had to leave some out

she went to a v friendly nursery tho'; and lots of people had little siblings to bring

do you keep your kids in a box?

EnidVorhees · 15/10/2006 19:32

the glittery knitwear

was me

Cappuccino · 15/10/2006 19:33

aren't you sposed to save your glittery knitwear for Christmas? to wear in your house for no-one to see? then get gravy down?
