Thread 46 - GCSE Covid Cohort , Searching for Summer Solstice

This is a support thread for our young adults post GCSEs 2020, regardless of their educational setting, and their results ( or life updates for those who went into work or have had results earlier). It is respectfully requested that all are supportive and helpful to each other. If you want to start a debate, e.g state vs private, uni vs employment please don't within this thread.

Some of us have been here since first thread back in yr10, some will be new. Everyone has been friendly and helpful in the past. Everyone is welcome. It is hoped this will continue. We were previously on the secondary board and then further education, now we shall be here in 'Parents of Adult Children' gulp

Our DS/DD may continue down various pathways ( employment, apprenticeships, higher ed). Be warned there might be lots of 'Uni Freshers' chat this time of year. My experience is that everyone is welcomed wherever, whatever their child is doing we have some in work, gap years , apprenticeships etc too. Lots of contributors with different experiences and always sympathy and advice to be had.

@Monkey2001 Good luck for tomorrow.

Good luck to all those finishing first year exams and assignments too.

@Monkey2001 - good luck !

Well done to Monkey's ds .

Not sure when ds is coming home, Friday or Saturday he says. He has a gig on Sunday as part of a multi-venue music festival in our city so he's got to be back by then.

I'm taking it as a good sign that his lecturer booked a recording studio yesterday and asked him to go in and properly record one of the songs he performed for his group performance assessment. It was a song he wrote with another course-mate. It's not for his course, just an extra curriccular thing the lecturer wanted them to do.

Thanks for all your good wishes, DS1 got a First and is very happy - gone to do some gaming to celebrate!

Good luck for all our DC in this exam season, hope to hear lots more happy stories.

mummyinbeds · 26/05/2023 10:18

DS has submitted his second 24 hour exam (with 12 minutes to spare) I think that's it for this year. He went for breakfast and then to bed 😴

crazycrofter · 26/05/2023 11:05

Well done to your ds @mummyinbeds , what a year! Dd pulled another all nighter and is in her third exam now! Just one more to go...

OrangeCinnamonLatte · 26/05/2023 11:13

Dd has her Musoc ball tonight. I'm glad I forced her to go. I hope she has special memories, she seems to have made friends so late in the day..if it had been earlier perhaps she would have had a better experience. Last assessment on Weds (recital)

Still waiting for Sussex and Winch to get back. Getting anxious about accommodation booking 😬

Breakfast then bed sounds like a great idea in this instance!
