(was talking to urologist who thought some adult problems may relate back to early/vigorous potty training..)

she loves the potty and plays with it, pretending to wee already, but we're not doing trg until she's at least got some neuronal connections between her bladder and brain

Lonelymum · 11/08/2005 19:03

IME none of my children showed themselves to be ready for it. I have always initiated the PT and I have always found that the first day or two you feel you are wasting your time and then they suddenly seem to get the idea. I think it is not that they aren't ready but that they haven't had to think about when they wee or poo when they are in nappies and then suddenly you are expecting them to think about it and anticipate it, and that takes a couple of days to think about.

Fio2 · 11/08/2005 19:03

i was just naturally lazy and mine did it himself at about 2yrs 8ish months, no accidents nor probs, but obv i encourage sitting as i want him to be cleaner for his potential partner's in the future

Lonelymum · 11/08/2005 19:04

BTW, ds3 woke up from nap with a nice heavy nappy(!) Since then, he has done one tiny wee in the potty which he was sitting on anyway to watch a Bob DVD. I don't think he knew he had done anything!
