I was very impressed with ds. I went out at 4pm though, so I'm not altogether clear what happened after that. I think he had an accident while eating tea. Understandable, I suppose.

But twice today, this child who hitherto made himself rigid at the suggestion of the potty, has been heard to say, 'Need potty', before jogging towards it and doing a wee in it! Very proud.

robinia · 09/08/2005 23:24

I didn't mind too much about mopping up the puddles (and the occasional poos) when they were learning. What really get's me down is all the boys have taken around two years before I can rely on them to keep their pants dry. No puddles any more - just wet pants most days simply because they can't be bothered.

hunkermunker · 09/08/2005 23:27

Mind you, have caught DS's sick in my hands (big pasta and veg fountain), so am sure I'll manage!

coddy, I wish MN and you had been around when mine needed training! This thread is fab!

nutcracker · 10/08/2005 11:27

Ds is doing really well today. He asked for a wee the minute he got up and his nappy was bone dry

Braved a small walk to the postbox with no nappy and he was great. Lots of wee's on the loo, so far so good.

gingerbear · 10/08/2005 11:29

DD (now 3 and perfectly capable of using the loo)did a wee and a poo on the lawn the other day, when asked why, she said she was copying the dog

nutcracker · 10/08/2005 11:30

LOL Gingerbear (always have to stop myself typing gingerbeer when i type your name)

nutcracker · 10/08/2005 11:34

Is it normal for them to be doing lots of little wees ??

Ds is sometimes having one and then 5 minutes later having anothe rlittle one.

I think he is oldest training on this thread though Cod, he is 2.8 ! Your Ds is younger than that isn't he ?

Still going well today anyway

LOL Cod, Ds has started dropping his nap so I haven't had to do that yet.

Ds has just had another wee, sat on the toilet and said 'I like this toilet, it's mine now'

purpleturtle · 10/08/2005 13:38

Ds has obediently sat on the potty several times this morning, with no result.

Pile in the car for a quick trip to drop off a table at a friend's, and guess what? Wet trousers! (Actually, I blame dh, who was supposed to be keeping an eye on him at the time)

Lonelymum · 10/08/2005 14:47

My ds3 has had one major success on the potty today (just wee) and many minor accidents. Even the success was becasue he was sitting on the potty anyway. Still, minor improvement on yesterday I suppose. Currently asleep with nappy firmly round him! What a relief to have a break!

something about that made me splutter cod.
bless him.

nutcracker · 10/08/2005 17:32

Ds has been fantastic today, one little dribble but otherwise wonderful

nutcracker · 10/08/2005 17:36

Can anyone reccomend a good toilet training seat ??
Ds will only use the toilet and we have one of those soft seats for it but he keeps weeing over the edge.

bensmum3 · 10/08/2005 19:15

This is a great thread {grin}. I put ds in his brothers old training pants on Monday just to see what would happen, he asked to go for a poo when we were naked on the beach (sorry, he was naked), and did one in a rock pool after several visits, has done several wee's in the toilet when I've put him on, and several in the pants, but doesn't say he needs to go, reading this thread , maybe I should continue ?? Also, do most of you just go straight to grown up pants ?

You don't seriously mean he did a poo in a rockpool do you

Lonelymum · 10/08/2005 20:25

Nutcracker, I have two toddler toilet seats. One is a soft one like yours and the other is made of hard plastic and has a bump at the front like you get on potties which is supposed to help a little boy's wee to go the right way. I can't tell you where I got it from as it was bought over 6 years ago, but I just wanted you to know that such a thing is possible and might help your ds not to wee over the edge.

As for my ds3, after waking up from his nap, we went out for a walk and then had tea and then it was time for a bath and he was still in the nappy he had gone down for his nap in....oh dear!

clary · 10/08/2005 22:24

nutty my ds2 just sits direct on the loo now (tho still uses the potty too) - what I mean is no loo seat needed. He's 2.4mths and not especially big - so yr ds might be big enough to go straight to the big boys' loo!
Loving this thread. Ds2 did apoo in his pants y/day first time in weeks but it was about 7pm at a friend's house and he was v tired.
looking forward to that tiny handbag plus the kids...when does it happen? I still take spare clothes for dd (4) tho have to admit they never get used.

bensmum3 · 10/08/2005 23:37

robina and tipex, why so , we live on an island, the tide was coming in, it was just us on the beach,no one else likely to be there that day, it would have disappeared in no time at all. Sorry if I have shocked you.
