Just wondered how everyone's getting on, having actually produced?

I'm absolutely knackered, and have very nasty tear which is giving me grief (I ripped into the muscle a bit) but am in much MUCH better shape than with dd2 - and dd1 is thoroughly enthusiastic. Mind you, dd2 is still asleep most of the time. I'm aware that the next few weeks and months are going to be, ahem, not the easiest, which is why I thought it might be worth keeping in touch...?

Well Champs - you already have my admiration, breastfeeding with another child to look after and up to 9 weeks. It is tough, I can't imagine that there isn't one mum on here who hasn't been depressed at some time or another.

Did you have PND with your first son ? If so do you recognise the symptoms ? Or is it the knackered, feeling incompetent sort of depression ( the sort I had ) ? Or, the unable to cope, lacking enthusasism type ? There are loads of mums on mumsnet with practical experience who will help point you in the right direction.

You should have a doctor that you trust, if you don't like one ask not to see them and if you find one you like then ensure that you get to see them.

Motherinf- I will try to do that, I just have to gear up the energy!! Kaz- I did have it with ds1. It is knackered, hard to sleep but falling down tired, can't eat but ravenous, sad, down and unenthusiastic type of depression. I am happy to have this baby, he is sooooooo sweet and I do get support wiv dh. I just feel grey.

champs - did you have drugs before or did you just deal with it yourself ?

Champs - I have no advice to give as I didn't have pnd with either of mine, but just wanted to send you a big hug. xxxxx

champs · 17/10/2003 16:05

kaz- I didn't take drugs b4 as I didn't want 2 get addicted and also they r not 100% safe wen bf.
Dalia- thanx I really needed that, so kind of you. how r u and bundle of joy?
BTW anyone goin 2 da baby show this weekend?

Dahlia · 18/10/2003 12:54

We're doing ok Champs, but having said that, the last two nights dd2 has woken at 2am which is just totally unheard of, so today I have started weaning as I presume she is ready for it. (She is 17 weeks today). We were going to leave it a bit longer as she seemed so content
but I don't want this night time waking lark to become a habit! We were really used to a full nights sleep so its a complete shock to the system.
Where is the baby show? Presumably in London somewhere?

motherinferior · 18/10/2003 16:07

Knackered and cross here - dd2 dropping in weight, apparently, and v crotchety with expressed bottle (dp gave her one while I was having a haircut today (not a very nice haircut ) thus causing massive row between me and dp while his mum was here (me: 'she's got to take one! I start work in two weeks' time!' Him: 'it'll be fine'. Recognise this one, anyone?). But otherwise, actually, doing much better.

Champs, I'm REALLY sorry if I appeared to be lecturing you - I just felt cross on your behalf. Sodding doc.

I got a doctor yesterday - who said dd2 was fine after *ing HV got me really worried - who was 37 weeks pregnant herself. Just you wait, I said, in manner of old crone warning fresh young virgin

motherinf- i didn't take it as a lecture at all!! infact i was glad for the advice.
dahlia- show was at olympia, really good, went wiv my mum, only downfall was i took ds1 who had heart set on creche, we got there lined up for ever and was told he couldn't stay as it only went up to age 5!!!!they said they had no toys for him, i pointed out the vtech toys were his age range and they had pens and paper!!!! well... poor ds1 was in tears, heck i was nearly in tears (blooming bf hormones .)it really anoyed me as the tickets and the website never had an age limit on it, i would have sent him to nans, i mean kids dont wanna walk around for long he gets bored quick. anyway, i did something really naughty the lovely lady on babbylicious stand sugested that i calm him down walk around and bring him back as they wouldn't notice, so i got my mum to bring him in. I reaslize it was bad so pls no lectures. i just felt so bad for ds1, he was lookin forward to it for weeks. While I was waiting for them I saw so many kids bein turned away all of them were crying, it was really upsettin, I mean u'd expect a creche to go up to 6-7 years old, I've seen some up to 10. anyway he got to stay so I'll stop goin on about it. dh said i shud write complaint. got alot of bits and bobs. it was so big i didn't get to see all of it!!! Had an adventure on way back decided cudn't bare tube, all those stairs with buggy weighed down wiv bags, so decided to get bus home. first one not so bad, ds2 sleepin ds1 happy but bus number 2 was harder ds1 bored, ds2 decided he was hungry so had to bf him on bus, every time I got nip in his mouth he'd drink and then let go as the bus was so interesting to him!! so I flashed the whole bus time time and time again, at one stage he pushed off the blanket that was hiding my modesty!! (wat modesty? all that goes out the window wen ur a mum!!! ) flashed the whole bus plus the cars on other side!!! hee hee.
any way, I'll stop nattering and giv others a chance

Hi everyone, just popped in to read your posts and see where all your little ones are up to. My ds2 is 7 weeks now and even though ds1 is only 19 months, I have forgotten all those little milestones you look forward to so much, have been reading your posts to remind myself what is yet to come!
All is very quiet over on our August babies' thread at the minute...

kaz33 · 19/10/2003 11:40

Hi, everyone - my computer keeps cutting out on this thread so am starting Part 2 - Those June/July Babies.

Well, DS2 showing no signs of sleeping through the night - am i am the only left, other than Dahlia little blimp

Going to start weaning - DS2 was making a play for my weetabix trying to catch the spoon and watching intently as the spoon went in my mouth. So baby rice later today I think.
