Tree that is a very good point My nan told me about her 'twilight' labour of my dad, i say bring it on!!!

Seriously though i am going to go and book it tuesday, we have had a chat and decided to wait and see if we get considered for a 4 bed before deciding whether to ttc again, i should just enjoy the 4 i have really, so i may as well ask about the injection whilst im there.

I should be in bed as i have to go and visit my other grandparents tommorow to deliver their xmas presents, i know for a fact she has bought my dd's a load of crap (primark shorts in december ffs!) but my foster sister has a £15 hmv voucher

Night all

Eggy thread.

JennyPennyNAPPYWEB · 28/12/2009 13:03

My sister is in premature labour . Her waters have broken and having contractions. She is having steroids to stop the contractions and a scan tomorrow to see if there is enough fluid to stop the birth for a few more weeks. She is being kept in for monitoring.

Sorry i know thats off topic but just wanted to share that with somebody.

Oh no! How many weeks is she? Poor you (((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))

JennyPennyNAPPYWEB · 28/12/2009 14:26

Oh yes forgot to say, she is 32 weeks.

Its Elouises birthday tomorrow, so if baby is delivered tomorrow (which it will be if there is not enough fluid) then she will share her birthday with her cousin (as well as her Aunty AND Grandad!).

Just hope he is OK. They have said they hope to get to at least 34 weeks so baby's lungs are developed properly.

tackyChristmastreedelivery · 28/12/2009 14:30

32 weeks is obviously not as good as 40, but it isn't too bad Jenny. The baby has a really great chance of needing a little bit of help with temperature control and feeding at the begining and then never looking back! Take heart.

thebluefoxategreensocks · 28/12/2009 14:33

jenny: they really say you're too young for a smear test? I was sure they were supposed to be offered to anyone once they'd had children! But maybe I'm confused.

Afraid I'm too scared to not make sure I have them done. But I think it took loosing my mum to cervical cancer! She hadn't had regular checks for a few years and only found out when it was tooo late and far advanced. And one year later she died. This was only 3 years ago and she was only 47 years old. So I think it's made me realise how important these are!

So, make sure any of you who needs one, goes to get it done straight away! In USA they usually do them every year, but here is every 3 years! I just always hope that's good enough, though I think I would feel rather un-nevered to have them as frequently as once a year.

NappyShedSal · 28/12/2009 14:47

Jenny - my friend had twins at 23 weeks plus 6 days. The little boy didn't make it, but the little girl did. She was 4 in August, started school in September and is now hitting all her milestones etc. The only way that you'd know she was soooooo premature is that she is tiny. So 32 weeks isnt too bad. Let's hope he hangs on in there for abit longer though.

whoknOCTOverthewine · 28/12/2009 15:06

name check!

Jenny - 32 weeks could be fine - fingers crossed for her xxxx

I get cervical erosion too due to the mirena but hardly notice it at all. I did have bleeding for about 6 weeks on and off after it was fitted but used my mooncup so wasn't a hasssle really. The benefits have been amazing. I would just flood for no reason at all - no warning - was awful and very embarrassing - could hardly leave the house sometimes - now all stopped completely. Great and life changing. That was two years ago now and no periods or PMT is brilliant. I know when I am ovulating still.

I can get custom made pumpkin pants if you need longer leg lengths

Off to reclaim mobile phone from vodafone - hopefully with a new speaker so I can hear it! May get my tsorage boxes too!!!

Have just had 6 friends round with 10 kids so has been manic but really lovely.

Catch up later!

JennyPennyNAPPYWEB · 28/12/2009 16:04

Octo - does the mirena really get rid of PMT then? I get REALLY bad mood swings with PMT . Hoping the mirena will be good for that then.

tackyChristmastreedelivery · 28/12/2009 16:28

It got rid of mine

JennyPennyNAPPYWEB · 28/12/2009 17:14

good, theres hope then!

Thats good that 32 weeks isn't too bad.

whoknOCTOverthewine · 28/12/2009 17:41

Yes got rid of mine!

whoknOCTOverthewine · 28/12/2009 17:54

I have pink storage boxes But need another 7! Must go back and get more!

tackyChristmastreedelivery · 28/12/2009 18:00

Oh lovely pink boxes of fluff.

NappyShedSal · 28/12/2009 18:56

I have been sorting some of my stock in the garage and got absolutley frozen!!! Boring clear / white boxes with black lids here!

Have tried to take photos of my Pumpkin Pants soakers and flongies but they've come out cr*p. Am going to try again in natural daylight tomorrow. Need to gte them on my site - they're not going to sell themselves sitting on my dining table are they??!!

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 29/12/2009 00:01

Jenny; hugs for your sister and for you and fingers crossed they can get things to stop for another week or so as the longer bubs is inside the better. There are lots of really positive stories on here of premature babies so take heart from those . My sister's friend had her DD at 28 weeks; she weighed less than 2lbs but was a wee fighter and did fantastically well. That was over 20 years ago as well!

And I don't think anything is off topic here so quit with the apologising!!; I think we are more than just a thread to talk about nappies

Hi everyone, was just wondering if I might pop in on this thread and introduce myself - I am bagpuss and I am an addict (so dh says anyway ). Seriously though, I had dts (b/g) 12 weeks ago - they were 7 weeks early and so have only just started to fit into most of ds2's old stash (have been using muslins and some size 0 nappies up until now). I have so many cloth quandries after promising myself that I was only going to add to my stash with pretty things (WeeNotions, ittis etc) but now the dts are here I am finding that I still really love all the old favourites like nippa tots, me onesize, sandys and bgs. The cloth world has moved on a lot since ds2 was born 4.5 years ago and there are so many new things to try - it would be good if someone could help me choose some lovely new stuff .

JennyPennyNAPPYWEB · 29/12/2009 15:55

Sister and baby are thankfully fine - baby has plenty of fluid left so staying in another week hopefully. Maybe induced next week - will see how things go.

Elouise having a good birthday so far - she is just asleep at the moment. Been to soft play then lunch with her cousins and Auntys. Shame she is just so fed up of presents though as she had so many over Christmas so is opening most of them in a few weeks time, probably on my birthday (30th jan).

Still no SS. Had a parcel today but was some cloth san pro I got from CNT swap.

Just wanted to add, Jenny, saw your post further down and wanted to say that my dts were born at 32+5 (pics on profile!) following premature rupture of membranes of dt1. Hospital managed to get steroids into me before transferring me to larger unit where I was put on a drip to stop contractions and help them to administer more steroids. DTs were born 3 days later when the effects of the drip wore off and I went into labour. It was a very worrying time when they came but happily they only needed 18 days of special care before coming home and are doing OK now. 32 weeks is a good gestation generally I think - most of the babies we met in SCBU who were 30 weeks or over did fantastically despite their small size . I hope your sister manages to stave off her labour for as long as possible and that baby arrives safe and sound .

Ooh, cross posted - that's good Jenny - best of luck to her.

Myjob thank you for the welcome , I have two ittis already . I bought them when I was pg but so far am not totally feeling the itti love. dts are 8 lbs and 9 lbs respectively and still they are gappy around the legs but OK on the waist - am wondering if I am doing something wrong? I have two WN ss as well which are now working well for us after a bit of a leaky start but my favourite of the new nappies I have bought are pop in dream dri which the dts got in their stockings - they are great nappies and I need more! I love how quick they dry and also how you can fold the booster to the front for a boy (can't do that with ittis) which is important to us as our stash needs to work well for both a boy and a girl.
