have to take DS1 to his induction afternoon (2nd one - hoping he doesn't throw up like he did last week LOL) at his new school.........thing is DS2 has his sleep at 1pm-3pm - and the induction afternoon starts at 1.30

So I'm going to put DS2 down for his sleep as usual, at 1.30 on the dot grab the monitor, lock the front door and whizz round to the school to drop DS1 off - then whizz back again

If you take the monitor with you and it's as close as you say I can't really see a problem. If anything did happen however (god forbid) I don't know how it would stand legally. Maybe you should ask a lawyer.

aloha · 27/06/2005 10:18

But what could realistically happen in the five minutes the drop off will take? With a baby in a cot, fast asleep? Bear in mind QoQ's house will be in plain sight as she lives literally next door, and she will have the monitor with her. What could possibly happen? (apart from the sky falling in, of course).

Didn't see yours before Iposted Celia - I wasn't copying, honest

I agree Aloha. Can't really think of anything.

Caligula · 27/06/2005 10:40

I suppose a car could spin out of control, come up to the pavement and kill QoQ outright, leaving the baby alone in the house until her DH comes home.

OTOH, at least the baby would still be alive.

Also, QoQ could have a heart attack or stroke on the street, or she could be struck by lightening, so the baby would be alone in the house for hours while she was rushed to hospital. OTOH, she wouldn't have been dropped on the ground in the wake of the heart attack/ lightning strike.

Or a random lunatic could attack QoQ with a knife thus resulting in the baby being left on its own. (One of the features of the Abigail Witchell case was that her DS was unhurt, but that's almost miraculous). So again, in that scenario, the baby is probably safer at home.

Yes it is possible that bad things will happen while she leaves the baby for five minutes. OTOH, bad things could happen if she took the baby with her.

You could be paralysed by fear if you went through all the possibilities...

Blimey!

monkeytrousers · 27/06/2005 10:48

I did consider lightening strike in this weather!

monkeytrousers · 27/06/2005 10:48

Remember to take some water!

escourtie · 27/06/2005 11:02

OMG QoQ I cannot believe you would even think about leaving a baby sleeping and going out You are obviously an unfit mother who shouldn't have children

What if your baby was to suffocate you are obviously gonna do it no matter what anyone says

QueenOfQuotes · 27/06/2005 11:02

lol - this thread gets madder and madder - at least it's moved off the "dumping" topic

Caligula · 27/06/2005 11:05

woohoo! another unfit mother comment!

QoQ, I think you've actually invented a classic thread!

WigWamBam · 27/06/2005 11:07

Another "unfit mother" comment from a first-time poster ... ho hum ...

QueenOfQuotes · 27/06/2005 11:08

oh was that a 'genuine' post - I read is as being sarcastic...............and incase it was genuine - he could suffocate in his cot with me in the room next door

Caligula - do you think so??? ooooo - I'm all excited now - who has to 'confirm' it's classic status

OP posts:
Lizzylou · 27/06/2005 11:09

Whether or not you agree with someone, calling them an unfit mother is just very wrong!
You do cause controversy, don't you QoQ???!!!
BTW, completely off topic, looked at your website, it is fab!

monkeytrousers · 27/06/2005 11:11

And a good book, just in case y'know..Something from Julie Burchill seems apt.

QueenOfQuotes · 27/06/2005 11:11

"Whether or not you agree with someone, calling them an unfit mother is just very wrong!"

agree with that - although this morning I really was an unfit mother - a bad case of PMT and poor DS's getting the brunt of it (we're all kissed and made up now though

"You do cause controversy, don't you QoQ???!!!"

Of course "controversy" is my middle name

"BTW, completely off topic, looked at your website, it is fab!"

Thanks

Its entirely up to the Queen what she does, and at the end of the day if something does happen to her ds, it will be her fault and her fault only for leaving him, not ours, so we should just leave her to do it as she is going to do it anyway.

We all have different ways of parenting and like I said, it's entirely up to her if she leaves her son. She will be the one to face the consequences if something should happen to him.
