have to take DS1 to his induction afternoon (2nd one - hoping he doesn't throw up like he did last week LOL) at his new school.........thing is DS2 has his sleep at 1pm-3pm - and the induction afternoon starts at 1.30

So I'm going to put DS2 down for his sleep as usual, at 1.30 on the dot grab the monitor, lock the front door and whizz round to the school to drop DS1 off - then whizz back again

"20 minutes for a poo? Don't get it, i must be quick, tmi?"

I don't take that long either - but DH takes about 15-20 minutes

OP posts:
Lonelymum · 26/06/2005 20:14

My dh disappears into the bathroom regularly for half an hour or more. I often go up an ask if he is still there or has he fallen down the loo? Mind you, I don't think he is that often constipated, I am sure he is using the time to read!

Enid · 26/06/2005 20:16

yes can see why dump and run is particulalry appropriate to this thread

oh well, get on with it then QofQ, you don't seem to have a problem with it so hey ho.

fairyfly · 26/06/2005 20:16

My brother used to be a half an hour bathroom boy, until i found his porn under the bathroom mat

WideWebWitch · 26/06/2005 20:17

lol at dump and run, given the preceeding posts!

jessicasmummy · 26/06/2005 20:18

What have i started!!!!

QueenOfQuotes · 26/06/2005 20:18

obviously JM doesn't 'dump and run'

OP posts:
jessicasmummy · 26/06/2005 20:19

i would if i could!!!

HappyHuggy · 26/06/2005 20:41

LOL QOQ - your bad mother thread has turned into a "how long do you take to poo" thread

PMSL

jessicasmummy · 26/06/2005 20:44

god i wish id kept my gob shut

QueenOfQuotes · 26/06/2005 20:46

LOL HH - how long until the next comment that relates to the what the thread was about??? We've gone 'off topic' (although not as far as this LOL) before and people keep coming back to the first.

Mind you - quite pleased with myself - this is the longest running thread I've EVER started

QoofQ - glad you got the reaction you wanted. Although have to say leaving a young baby unattended in a house alone however short is nothing to be proud of!

QueenOfQuotes · 26/06/2005 20:49

sorry blossom - got to ask the same as I asked others

Do you put washing on the line,

or

Put the bins out?

Either with the child/ren awake or asleep?

OP posts:
jessicasmummy · 26/06/2005 20:49

ok back to subject...

i couldnt "think" about leaving jess in the house on her own, but, as i dont know your area and exactly how close the school is, i couldnt comment on whether i would or not.

at the moment with jess only being 11 months old, she's still my "baby" - till october anyway - and i want her close to me!

If you are happy, then i respect your view, but PLEASE take the monitor!!!

Blossomhill · 26/06/2005 20:51

My children are 6 and 7 so I do all of that when they are at school!

QueenOfQuotes · 26/06/2005 20:53

Jess - the end of my garden is further from his bedroom door than the school door - my back garden 'nestles' around the back of the school and the two walls in it also form the school wall - as does the side of my house(infact I can look out of the window of the room I'm currently in and see into the school hall ).

I don't think I'd have left DS1 to do the equivalent obviously wouldn't have been dropping anyone at school when DS1 was little as he was my first, but for example to drop a letter into the neighbours house I'd always have taken him with me. Guess people (sometimes) change a little as their kids grow older or when no. 2 comes along.

And don't worry - I'll be taking the monitor

Blossomhill · 26/06/2005 20:53

Do you actually take ds into school or drop him at the gates?

QueenOfQuotes · 26/06/2005 20:54

lol blossom - now you're being awkward read that as 'did you ever'

Just to clarify my earlier posts (seems like a lifetime ago) - I do not wrap dd in cotton wool (she is 2.5 btw) but in my opinion i would rather take her with me in this particualr situation that Q of Q has started this thread about.

I do not lock dd in the toilet with me - i leave door open and so if she wants me she can find me but she can also play in her room if she wants.

If a mum wants to take her children to the toilet with her that thats her decision - as everyone seems to be saying, we are all entitled to our opinions and we are all entitled to raise our own children as we see fit.

To take this thread back to the original topic - i really cant see any other reason for starting this thread than to cause a fuss and to get reactions.

Having said that I feel I should apologise if I caused any offence in my earlier posts - it was not my intention.

QofQ is entitled to her opinion but I just dont happen to agree with it on this occasion.

So, please dont question anyone's parenting skills (as seems to be happening and I also apologise if i came across as doing this) - we all try to do our best and this site is meant to be a supportive one not a place to throw insults and question other parents.

QueenOfQuotes · 26/06/2005 20:55

blossom - it's his 2nd induction day - so I'll have to take him to the school door (which is still closer than the end of my garden ).

"Having said that I feel I should apologise if I caused any offence in my earlier posts - it was not my intention. "

Apology accepted - although I don't recall you saying anything particularly offsensive - that was someone else posting at a similar time to you if I recall correctly - but as you say it seems like ages ago
