have to take DS1 to his induction afternoon (2nd one - hoping he doesn't throw up like he did last week LOL) at his new school.........thing is DS2 has his sleep at 1pm-3pm - and the induction afternoon starts at 1.30

So I'm going to put DS2 down for his sleep as usual, at 1.30 on the dot grab the monitor, lock the front door and whizz round to the school to drop DS1 off - then whizz back again

probably would have been DH if he wasn't at work - just a shame on the boys really.......mind you I supposed they're used to it - DS1 particularly knows that once a month mummy turns into a bit of a monster, and then blubs while apologising for telling him off for practically nothing

I am an unfit mother, I cannot walk upstairs without being out of breath.

QueenOfQuotes · 27/06/2005 11:30

Has anyone here ever left their kids sleeping while they go out clubbing/pub? I know of 2 mothers that did this

The both got sent down and kids taken into care.

QueenOfQuotes · 27/06/2005 11:38

No I don't know of anyone that's done that - and I certainly wouldn't!!!

OP posts:
Caligula · 27/06/2005 11:41

Yes and some mothers go on holiday and leave their kids alone in the house and they generally get taken into care too.

Not sure how far that relates to QoQ's plan to leave a sleeping baby for five minutes, but it all adds to the merriment of the thread.

MexicanMarissa · 27/06/2005 11:42

But I actually do think it's a bit silly leaving him at all. wont he go to sleep in his buggy? or put him down when u get in and let him have a little longer than usual?

homemama · 27/06/2005 11:45

If MN gave commission for threads like this you could have installed CCTV in his room!!
Just to be on the safe side, maybe you could tie a piece of string to his toe in case he stirs!
Ho ho!

QueenOfQuotes · 27/06/2005 11:45

"But I actually do think it's a bit silly leaving him at all. wont he go to sleep in his buggy? or put him down when u get in and let him have a little longer than usual?"

I've actually already answered this several times - but for your benefit. Yes he'd got to sleep in his buggy - but I'd give entire possessions to the first person that can successfuly get the buggy out of the house without waking him up (and no he won't go back to sleep if he's woken up). When you say put him down when I get in - do you mean after I've dropped DS1 off, or when I've picked him up??

homemama · 27/06/2005 11:46

MM, QoQ explained the buggy thing about ten years ago!!

QueenOfQuotes · 27/06/2005 11:47

"Just to be on the safe side, maybe you could tie a piece of string to his toe in case he stirs! "

I'd be there every 2 minutes checking him if I did that LOL - he's the wriggliest baby I've ever seen! The amount of times in the night we hear him 'knocking' at the sides of his cot and he wriggles around in amazing

Grin Grin

MexicanMarissa · 27/06/2005 11:51

when u've dropped your son off

QueenOfQuotes · 27/06/2005 11:52

because (as already explained) DS2 'needs' 2hrs sleep in the afternoons - if I wait until I've dropped DS1 off it'll be able 1.45 by the time I get DS ready for his nap - I'll then have to wake him up just before 3 (so about 1hr sleep) to go and get DS1..............so I'll STILL end up with a grumpy and miserable boy

OP posts:
MexicanMarissa · 27/06/2005 11:58

I see. Can't u just put him to bed earlier that night?

QueenOfQuotes · 27/06/2005 12:01

what and put DS1 to bed early as well?

And even if we did send them both to bed early I KNOW (from experience) that a shorter nap during the day combined with an 'early night' to 'compensate' doesnt' work). It used to work with DS1 - but DS2 is a completely different kettle of fish..........

I dont disagree with waht QoQ wanted to do, but i know that i could never even think about it, i would be so scared that something would happen and remain so guilty if something did happen that i couldnt risk it, but my dd is a good girl and doesn't really whinge that much at being woken up and dragged around, i dont think i could leave her in the car either, i know that as she gets older (only 8 mth now) il probably change my opinion, but i dont think i could pop to the neighbors knowing she's in the house on her own, theres always that magical WHAT IF? but if you feel comfortable just being that short distance away thats up to you to decide and i dont feel people should judge or wrong you on that!
