New thread.

May our nights be dry, our days free of wicking, and may growth spurts coincide with lovely new fluffy product releases. Hurrah!

I think someone else will have to release this tiger! I think I'll list it when I can be arsed.

4andnotout · 09/11/2009 19:41

Evening all

Am on bedrest so posting from phone while dp isnt looking! Been to a&e and have 3 days bedrest as have a bad concussion Was very scary earlier as my memory was fuzzy and i couldnt concentrate at all, i was trying to write but it all came out as nonsence

Have listed all 17 medium itti's on CNT and the forsale boards just a medium fleece soaker and skirty to list now!

Better go back snuggle under my quilt...

Octothebaglady · 09/11/2009 19:45

ooh 4 - take it easy Did look at your lovely medium itti mountain but as ds3 is in large, dh would freak out! May ask the real nappy network though!

swampster · 09/11/2009 20:20

Get better soon, 4. Thank heavens for iphones!

LackaDAISYcal · 09/11/2009 20:27

pumpkin pants ordered

OMG, I am going to be a full time clothie soon! and if DH grumbles about spending more money on nappies, two pairs of fleece soakers is only a couple of packs of sposies at the end of the day!

NappyShedSal · 09/11/2009 20:31

Daisy - I have some thin fleece liners - funnily enough I prefer the thicker ones. I have thin ones in white, white spots on dusky pink, white spots on dusky blue and pink butterfles all in thin fleece.
I'm sure I can do you a deal

Shame about the demo - is there no way that someone could have watched your little one while you did it? I'm double booked in a few weeks time, but really don't want a group of pregnant ladies to miss out on hearing about the wonders of cloth, so my super-duper darling DH "may" be doing one of my talks for me!!!!

Octothebaglady · 09/11/2009 20:39

lol Sal - I can see him doing it aswell! Def make him wear the close parent too I think a demo from a bloke can be really effective esp it there are dads about as they see it as a normal thing then rather than just a thing. I have a double booking next saturday in that have an NCT sale and DH is away ... childcare time!

Octothebaglady · 09/11/2009 20:47

you know what I mean re normal things

treedeLivingDeadery · 09/11/2009 20:52

Hi all, just popping in to say get well soon 4. Are you sure you are not suffering the effects of the concussion, selling all your Ittis!!!???

Hope you are feeling better. x

NappyShedSal · 09/11/2009 21:02

Pumpkin pants ordered to go on my site too am I your first stockist?? - don't think I'll get DH to demo those - that might be a step too far. And there is no way that he would wear the Close Parent sling! I wore the sling at my last NCT sale and got absolutely loads of interest. Wore it last week to the Real Nappy Fair and not one single person asked about it - isn't that strange?

LackaDAISYcal · 09/11/2009 21:03

I'm going to do the demo next week instead, so all is not lost! A friend had already agreed to look after DD but given bumble is poorly I didn't want to impose, especially as the last time she watched him he screamed the whole time I was away!

I've already ordered some liners from Octo, but I have 5 new thick ones if you want to do a swap???

My head is bursting with ideas for things to make.....if only I had the talent and the equipment

Octothebaglady · 09/11/2009 21:11

I would love to be able to make stuff myself! I have sent my fleece to Jenny to ask her to make me some wipes She has a special cutter!

I have about 5 stockists lined up for pumpkin pants - nappyshed is the first to place an order though! They are lovely - similar to bebesnuggles but different in how they look/feel ((nicer imo)) I am a complete convert

4andnotout · 09/11/2009 21:15

Tree fear not I'm only selling my medium itti's I still have the same again in large

Octothebaglady · 09/11/2009 21:22

Sally - I find that with the breastfeeding aprons - sometimes everyone asks and wants one - other times nobody says a thing - I tend to wear one too with a sticker on it so people know. Tend to sell them in herds - a whole group of friends will buy one each kind of thing.

treedeLivingDeadery · 09/11/2009 21:32

4 - phew! Was thinking of ringing NHS direct about you

4: Hope you get well soon! Hugs (even if they're not really allowed on MN!) LOL

Clement seems to be getting some rash re-appearing again, after being in cloth for about 12 hours today! He's been OK the past 3 days or so, with only the occasional cloth nappy - sort of a mix of cloth & disposables. but I started him this morning in only cloth, and by bedtime he had a patch of sore red rash, about an inch below his waist. It seems to start here every time. So far he's ONLY worn the cotton tots which were washed at 95 degrees, so surely there's nothing in them, right?! I just don't know is it possible that because of his super sensitive skin, he's getting eczema there, or some sort of contact rash from the cloth nappies? Or is the thrush lingering in his body, and the damp cloth brings it back to life? (I was worried if his mouth seemed more white than it should be, but I'd have thought he'd seem off-colour or fussy if he had oral thrush, right?!)

anyway, he does have very sensitive skin. He has patches of eczema on his cheeks which are usually under control, but yesterday went flame red because I was wearing a wool coat and he was snuggled up next to me! and then today, he was sleeping on a pillowcase which was pulled out of a linen cupboard and had been washed with detergent/fab softener some months back (we only use soap flakes now) and he got awful red cheeks from it! So, maybe he's just allergic to everything?

I tried to take a pic of the rash below his waist, in case anyone can tell if it looks thrush at all. Maybe I'll upload it later if anyone might have an idea what it is!

swampster · 09/11/2009 22:20

Some people are sensitive to the oddest things, rach - wool, lanolin... Lanolin is the deep moisturiser of choice in this house.

My DS1 is sensitive to mineral oil. Which was a real bugger when I was slathering him in emollients for his eczema until it dawned on me that since I'm sensitive to mineral oils, he might be too.

My grandmother's cure for oral thrush was a bit of tomato rubbed on the tongue. My mum swears it worked No harm trying?

For eczema, keeping moist internally is as important as externally so plenty of liquids and things with omega 3s are good.

Am really that a cotton tots get a reaction!

treedeLivingDeadery · 09/11/2009 22:26

hemp. I am obsessed by hemp oil. Rub it on, put it in him, put a bit on toast, in his food, everywhere. It aids healing in the gut, and leaky poor function in the gut can affect the skin. Slather a bit of hemp oil on

Poor you though Rachel, you must feel a bit desperate. Was he A-ok in dispos then??

OP posts:
Octothebaglady · 09/11/2009 22:30

rachel - can you post a pic of the rash on your profile?

LackaDAISYcal · 09/11/2009 22:45

Interesting on the hemp oil tree...my gut is ravaged from years of undiagnosed (and then badly controlled ) coeliac disease. I might try it.

rach, we had similar issues with DD and eventually gave up on cloth, and had to even keep changing which brand of sposies we were using. It's only now at 2.5 and in pants that her bottom is peachy and baby bottom like...we now have to work on the crook of her arms and her knee pits!

treedeLivingDeadery · 09/11/2009 22:54

You need to be getting through quite a bit of it Daisy, and using it daily in your food.

It is very very good on dry skin - we have found anyway. I hear ya about those knee pits!!

swamp: tomato might be worth trying, as long as he's not allergic to it! A couple of weeks ago he ate some food (dinner we were eating) with tomato in it (first time he'd had any actual tomato) and he vomitted afterwards! So I was a bit worried if he wasn't tolerating it, but a dab in the mouth wouldn't be swallowing any bits! Been feeding him probioitc yoghurts anyway! Seems Clement has been fine to wear woolies (longies/shorties), but maybe the lanolin acts as a barrier so the wool isn't bothering him? Having said that, he always gets a red bottom if I put a particular ointment on him which has lanolin in it! I guess it's possible his face reacts to wool since that's the only place on his body with eczema - so far!

tree: Usually he's been rash-free when wearing a disposable. But about 10 days ago when I finally took him to the GP about the rash, it was very angry even in a disposable, and only calmed down and went away with the medication. The GP assured me it wasn't the nappies, but was just his body trying to naturally fight off the infection, hence it going back & forth. But I dunno.

OK, here is a pic. The photo on the left is today, and the one on the right is on the 28th of last month, the day before he went to the GP and was diagnosed with thrush.

i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk108/rachins_photos/misc/nappyrash.jpg

Does anyone notice the similar red pattern in both pics? Almost wavy red area? That's how it starts every time, on the numerous occasions lately when the rash has flared up. It's not spread very far today (not yet anyway), but I put him in a disposable at bedtime since he gets very sore/fussy when he's got a wet nappy touching the rash. When he had the thrush, it was really bad in the creases of his legs too - nothing there either, yet.
