SODDING TERRIBLE TWOS - tolerance at Zero.....

I am just soooooo peed off with my two yr old ds. A couple of weeks ago we had a sudocreme episode where he smothered it over absolutely everything - as you all know its a bloody buggar to get out of carpets etc, water resistant and all - anyway i haven't bought anymore at the mo. but today he got hold of the diprobase and has done the same bloody thing - God its going to be a long day. Sorry, just having a moan.

not as bad as smearing cream, but my ds did a poo in next doors paddling pool the other day!
At least your 2 year old has the grace to keep his evilness within your 4 walls, mine extends his to every elses house/garden!
In 10 years time we will look back and say "do you remember when.....and hopefully we will smile.
(unfortunately, the pooing in the paddling pool incident will be remembered by next doors kids and will be told with great gusto in the pub when they are 20!!!LOL)

Nightmare stuff to get out I know. We had this with DS - believe me there is no possible way he can get hold of it now - even with a chair.

Its a wearing age! DP does not understand that by 9 at night I just need 2 year old out of my hair...Its a lovely age but soooooooooo tiring!

wearing is an understatement, he just copies his older brother, he winds his brother up, stands on his younger brother and is generally just sooooo naughty at the moment - its bloody exhausting!

Does it actually stop at 3?

My ds2 is a nightmare right now. Clingy, whingy and the worst bit is he is so sly!!! Hes 3 in 3wks, please, please, please tell me he will change over night?

DS1 never suffered like this!

Yes but all my friends with girls would swap! We joke about it all the time! They say girls are worse than boys!

I am as tired now as i was when i first had ds. To boot he still doesnt sleep through the night.
HOWEVER, I laugh more now than i have ever because he is so funny.

ds1 is mildly austistic so we didn't have the 'classic terrible twos' stage - he's just always been a challenge with everything - ds2 is at that stage so I'm praying it will stop overnight but he's only just 2 so a long way to go I think - and ds3 is only 9m and very placid so I need to try to make sure he remains calm not easy with the other two - he's pushing ALL the boundarys at the moment I just want to have a day when I'm not constantly telling him not to do this that and the other....

HV says if they arnt hurting or endangering themselves or others then leave them. What about just plain annoying? Does that count? My 2 are banging the radiators with spoons and its is soooooo iritating!

Yes and seems to me that they hog the remote!

He'll have a tantrum soon anyway, I've taken his favourite cuddly toy to be washed becasue it got all muddy yesturday and he'll cop cos he will see it in the washing machine!

DS2 was slapping ds1 on the back so Ive made him sit on teh naughty stair.

I haven't adopted that tact yet - do you find it works? I may need to do something like this - trouble is it wouldn't have worked with ds1 becasue he wouldn't have 'understood' the concept but looks like we are going to have to try very different approach with ds2. I'd be interested to hear if people find this good. What happens when you go to other peoples houses, do you do the same?

I think its a boy thing as well (not saying explicitly), but if ever Ive mentioned it to any of my friends with girls, they say 'Oh no, my little girl is just as boisterous' and they start to get all defensive. I dont mean it like that but I can never explain properly without them getting tetchy.

We use the naughty stair and it works as he calms down. However im not sure that he understands what it is and why he is there so we use it very little at ther mo. (i am saving it really).
I issue a warning and that usually works.
Friends with girls are completely different in comparison, This of course highlights ds's evil streak in neon lights!!!!

We will reap our rewards later...I have three boys one girl..baby and toddler girls a doddle.

It works in a way. He knows that if he is naughty he will get put there and he has started apologising to whoever for whatever. DS2 learns better through cause and effect methods than ds1. So it works better for ds1 as it is an instant punishment but he still repeats the act later. It just take him a lot longer to grasp than ds2. DS2 on the other hand just goes and sits as soon as I look at him in the right way. He then shouts 'Mammy Im sorry, can I get off now'

DS1 doesnt sit and I have to keep putting him back time and time again. he doesnt grasp that if he sits for 4mins then he gets to go back to playing.

Trying it now LOL so we'll see...

Oh dear, this will take some work because he thinks the step is fun! need to keep this up and persevere every time he plays up so he'll probably spend most of day there - oh well out of my hair then! like I say zero tolerance.

Major tantrum now in progress - all becasue of the cuddly toy in washing machine - he's now seen it! trying to open door and now throwing himself on floor and screaming full pelt - shit I find this the hardest bit, I'm ignoring him but getting very wound up inside!

He's now shaking, wobbling, rolling around on floor and is in such a state will probably throw up next which is all I need....

shit, ds3 now screaming as upset at all the noise, I'm now singing at top of voice to try to shut it out - think I'm gonna panic...
