little comfort wraps look lovely.

lol ager; DD used to be quite regular and would poo after her breakfast so I used to out on some kooshies all in ones I got given as although they were generally rubbish, it was only on for an hour tops before she pooed and it stopped my lovely nappies being ruined with poo

I have been doing lots of research today into the local nappy market and am exhausted now with a spinning brain.

must to bed though; DH is poorly with man 'flu so I will be up with the DC in the morning.

I am striping all of my AIOs today. Want to strip all my nappies but havr too many to do in one go! So today we are using all the UD fitteds and will strip those tomorrow and use WN etc.

TheNattyTheHippy · 04/10/2009 09:40

ive got a few that need stripping, mainly the night time ones, i think them being on so long makes the build up of bacteria worse.
im waiting for me new nn and huggles to come first tho

everyone pray for my fluffy post to arrive tomorrow

daisy i know what you mean about head spinning, ive been looking into local shops, will be cheaper to do a stall tho i think.
worked out the profit margins on nappies is very small, unless you make them yourself.
looking at the mutts, i reckon i could make nappies like that. am researching materials and a new sewing machine atm. (possibly a embroidery one but ££££)

and of course the most profit is to be made from wraps, as they require alot less materials and are quick to make.

exciting stuff! if i can get the hang of knitting on the round i will be making woolies too.

rusmum · 04/10/2009 09:56

are all on the line (well what will fit) done sandys this morning ao now AL done- will let you know after we start to use them again- they smell fresh as daisies atm!

Octothechildherder · 04/10/2009 10:15

Natty - you need to have trade accounts to make any money in nappies! Also having had one of the highest ever turnovers as a nappy advisor, if you took into account time/hours I worked for about £1 an hour! If you are interested in making nappies there is a lady inSwindon called Adrienne who runs nappy making workshops - she will be at the Swindon Baby show this thurs/fri. I think her website is wwww.luckysprog.com (hoping that doesn't come up with something weird lol)

Octothechildherder · 04/10/2009 10:15

((sounded very negative lol - loved it though))

mumface · 04/10/2009 10:41

Yes - makers can do really well once established - look at CNT to see how successful some makers have become - also Upsy Daisy - would suggest asking on the CNT wahm board if considering getting some maker advice as they are really helpful and know all about the equipment and fabric sourcing etc.

Octothechildherder · 04/10/2009 10:55

I am going to try and go to one of adrienne's workshops - think would be fascinating.

4andnotout · 04/10/2009 12:12

Morning all, it's a brilliant day for nappy washing here, it's bright sunshine and quite windy so I'm hoping all my washing gets dry as I have stacks of it today as I had yesterday off, and I change everyones bedding on a Sunday or Monday.

I'm officially Skint now until Thursday so there will be no fluffy post for me, only the fleece soaker and 9-12mo clothes bundle for Tilly-Grace which i've already paid for.

ilovemydogandmrobama · 04/10/2009 12:19

I'm waiting for a wool shortie, silk liners (only thing that keeps DS bottom free from nappy rash) and some Itti Bittis.

Think I'm sorted.

Scotia · 04/10/2009 12:38

I've uploaded a profile picture of Kerr in his new longies I knitted from the SheepyPants pattern

Nearly finished the Debbie Bliss ones too, so will be back later...

mumface · 04/10/2009 12:42

Has anyone seen the new fabrics coming to WeeNotions, including a red/green oogabooga. They are on the homepage.

Agree with the nappy making, go for it Natty

LittlePants · 04/10/2009 15:18

Look what I've just found!!!!

on Ebay in their policy on used clothes

"Used cloth diapers can be sold, as long as the listing states clearly that the item has been cleaned per manufacturer standards."

They must have decided that they were losong too many sales!!!!

Yaaaaay - mind you i don't like their charges! Think I'll stick to used nappies!

JennyPennyNAPPYWEB · 04/10/2009 15:46

Yay! I willl be doing lots of ebaying then!

Octothechildherder · 04/10/2009 16:13

and me - have loads!

kmummy · 04/10/2009 16:17

Hmmmm id be wary for some reason, after my bad experience on CNT i think ebay would finish me off!

ilovemydogandmrobama · 04/10/2009 16:31

Isn't the difference that if you sell on ebay, you are protected by Paypal? Not sure you are if using Paypal on other sites?

Octothechildherder · 04/10/2009 16:40

As long as you don't gift paypal you are always protected. I have just become a top rated seller on ebay which really pleased about. Not much listed atm as focusing on other stuff and also closed my ebay shop. Ebay works well most of the time but can also be a nightmare - I have blocked several buyers over the past couple of years.

JennyPennyNAPPYWEB · 04/10/2009 17:27

Octo - did you find you still made a profit selling via an ebay shop? And I also wondered if there were rules about which products can or cant go on there? I mean, set by the wholesaler?
