Hi need to find cheap nappies. Most are really dear. He wears them all day so we use a lot.
Also he does not like telling me when he needs changing
Thanks

You also posted asking where to get a change mat from - what have you used for the last 22 years?

ThingOne · 26/09/2009 22:13

I can't believe if your son is this age and has problems for such a long time you haven't come across mainstream incontinence products such as tena. I had problems in the aftermath of surgery and discovered whole ranges within weeks, never mind years. And I only needed pads for an infected and oozing wound, never mind pants. And who on earth calls adult incontinence pants nappies? FFS you can buy them in tiny chemists these days.

I don't buy this OP for one moment.

all the cries pf troll are NOT helpful.

if you think it's a troll report it- otherwise can we please assume that this person is for real?
not really fair to shout troll is it? this person might genuinely be in need of help and this kind of response is unkind to say the least.

someone has come here for advice, maybe we could give it without all the "ooh i think you're a troll, but i won't do anything, just make the whole hread really uncomfortable"

it's getting pretty boring seeing this on here right now

perhaps she is getting through so many because the ones she has currently just aren't effective and area leaking very quick;ly?

i definitely agree with talking to your GP and seeing what s/he suggests though OP

policywonk · 26/09/2009 22:16

well said, thisis...

I'd bet that the OP is a vulnerable individual, not a troll.

But what you're not allowing for, shiney, is that the OP appears to not have English as a first language. S/he might well not be aware of the procedures for SN, or of the available help, or of the correct terminology. She might find the whole thing bewildering, and not be coping well at all.

You can't know for certain whether the OP is for real or not, and your insistence that s/he's a troll might be causing someone not to come back on here for help that they genuinely need. You've made your point. Nobody is going to read this thread and fail to notice that lots of people think the OP is a troll.

silv77 · 26/09/2009 22:24

yes i will have a talk to them.

Ill phone them up on Monday see what they say. Like i said I just saw the nappy board and thought. ILL see what people suggests about it.

Mabye I put it in the wrong thread or topic. I was nt getting any any feed back in the Sneeds one.
That why i came on here. In the nappies one.

This sort of thread makes me feel really uncomfortable. No one is revealing personal info, unless your preferred brand of nappies is personal. If it's someone looking for kicks then no biggy. But they might be genuine and I'd hate that it might have been made just a teensy bit worse by accusing them of lying when they asked for help.

cheesesarnie · 26/09/2009 22:26

silv i hope theyre helpful-im sure they will be.like i said with mil, they were happy to keep trying different sorts till they found what suited her.

Caz10 · 26/09/2009 22:29

Glad its not just me that feels that way. If OP is not for real then no harm done really is it?

silv77 I hope this thread gets back on track and you get the info you need. Maybe someone on the SN board could recommend another chat forum for carers etc you might get a better response there?

silv77 · 26/09/2009 22:33

Yes thanks.
How can i delete this one.
Ill start againe in a new forum. Then see what happerns there.

Agree with policywonk. I would hate for someone who's vulnerable and in need to not get help because everyone was too busy shouting 'troll'.

Silv - I hope you and your ds get the help you need with nappies. Your GP should be able to refer you onto an incontinence specialist.

thanks

Silv I agree it sounds like possible English isnt your first language or there are some communication issues going on here. There is no cause to bully you just because you are talking about a sensitive subject using different words some of us would use.

I hope you get the help you need. Please call your GP and Social Services, even if they have been unable to help you in the past if you explain to them what the problem is now they will be able to make a new effort.

If you think there is a troll report it, no MNers are exposing themselves or their vulnerabilities on this thread. I think this is a mother who is trying to help her son and they are both at a disadvantage. We should help.

hereidrawtheline · 26/09/2009 22:54

silv I hope you feel welcome to come back here - and post on the SN topic. It doesnt have to be the SN teenagers topic as that one isnt quite as active as the main SN board. It sounds like you could do with some support and MN is good for that.

silv77 · 26/09/2009 22:57

Thanks
mabye i should have put this post in for sale wanted.
See what comes up

OP posts:
hereidrawtheline · 26/09/2009 23:00

why would you have wanted to do that? I dont think anyone will be able to sell them to you here.

silv77 · 26/09/2009 23:01

No maybe not. Just a idea.

OP posts:
Caz10 · 26/09/2009 23:03

Go the main SN board silv77 I think it is the most active.
