Hi need to find cheap nappies. Most are really dear. He wears them all day so we use a lot.
Also he does not like telling me when he needs changing
Thanks

Silv: You need to 1) contact the GP and ask to be referred to your local Community Nurse (or District Nurse)for a continence assessment.
2)Explain to the nurse that your son is getting through an abnormally high number of incontinence pads every day.

They may decide to catheterise in the short term, but if not, there are a vast range of continence aids around, one of which I'm sure will be suitable for him. They can also help with mattress / chair protectors etc.

There is absolutely no reason for you to be buying 'nappies'. You just need another product to be supplied via health proffessionals.

Also, I wouldn't have though that a child's nappy could cope with the volume of urine produced by an adult anyway, so huggies etc are not going to be any better than what you've got.

I work with many incontinent clients, and they often have to try several different shapes / absorbencies before they find one that works.

TheMoistWorldOfSeptimusQuench is right, you should get them for free.
there are lots of products on offer, and he would need and adult nappie, not a childs.
you need to be re assessed by your local incontinece advisor.

thanks them lilly all in one pads look good.
It just that you not get that many in a pack.
I could put 2 pads on him. Make it last longer put a nappy on him then a large all in one pad on top.
Would that be a good idea or not

thanks

No no, don't put two nappies on him. Such a waste, and the first one stops the urine soaking through to the second one anyway.

If he's consistently soaking wet, putting a second pad on to lengthen time between changes is just masking the issue.

Please take my advice and get the Community Nurse to do a continence assessment. I promise you I know what I'm talking about here

Also, I would be concerned about your son's skin condition if he's so wet all the time. I imagine his skin will be quite red and sore, and vulnerable to breaking down into pressure sores. The nurse will be able to advise on and supply suitable barrier creams too.

Please, please speak to a health proffessional about this.

Sorry for barging in. There are2 companies that I can think of called Fittleworth Medical and Clinimed who deal with the PCT's and they provide incontinence pads etc.

Try Sudocrem. It works for alsorts of things.

But please go and speak to your care team as the pads and stuff can be sorted through them.
