My DS who is nearly 5 is getting rather curious about certain things and asked me straight out what a ladies privates are called. I really didn't know what to say and just said 'private parts' but he wasn't happy with that!
There are plenty of acceptable words for a boys bits but nothing that quite seems acceptable for a girls, help please!

No, not beef curtains.

Gammon curtains.

paddyclamp · 23/04/2009 14:35

We use fanny! Can't stand front bottom...poo doesn't come out of it lol

NervousNutty · 23/04/2009 14:37

My dd used to call hers a fairytoogle. I have absolutly no idea why, but will be sure to remind her off it at family events for years to come

We generally just say 'bits' for both male and female pastts in this house, as in 'leave your bits alone', usually accompanied with a reply from Ds of 'but i like playing with them'

parts, have no idea what pastts is.

ThePellyandMe · 23/04/2009 14:39

My mum used to call it a 'Suzy. No idea why, I don't use that term with my ds'.

Being boys it's not such an issue but we refer to 'girlie bits'

I quite like 'Ladybum' but I imagine in this house that would cause far too much confusion about where mummy poo's from

TheApprentice · 23/04/2009 14:41

PLEASE don't call it a Mary. thats my name!!

HuwEdwards · 23/04/2009 14:41

ElinorDashwood · 23/04/2009 14:42

BitOfFun · 23/04/2009 14:43

pmsl @ growler! Does it do fannyfarts?

CountessDracula · 23/04/2009 14:47

We call it a minky
(dd is fully aware that that is a silly name and it is in fact a vagina but she thinks that minky sounds nicer!)

Beware though
One of her friends has recently got a kitten and called it Minky which makes dd titter and splutter like Finbar Saunders whenever it is mentioned!

differentID · 23/04/2009 15:21

the polite name wher I now live I believe is foof.

upagumtree · 23/04/2009 15:31

FlyingMonkey · 23/04/2009 16:30

I believe split-arse is the popular term used amongst squaddies.

I prefer to say "bits"

Gentle · 23/04/2009 21:21

We call them vulvas.

When I grew up it was a tuppence and Mary Poppins was a naughty bitch.

HuwEdwards · 23/04/2009 21:27

rofl at Miranda and 'split-arse'

Joe1977 · 23/04/2009 21:38

DS1 asked me why I had two bums about 6 months ago, and this name has stuck. So as far as he is concerned ladies/girls have two bums, one for wee and one for poo. He knows the proper words for everything (penis, scrotum, vulva, nipples etc), but generally prefers to use winkie and other bum.
