I hope someone else is training too as we can celebrate and commiserate together
since dd got up this morning she has been bare bottomed. i have left the potty out and told her where it is and left her to it mostly.
she has weed on it 4 times, pood on it once and had 1 accident near the potty while eating, she made no attempt to get to the potty and i think she was more bothered about her lunch.
i have done her a tick chart to tick whenever she uses the potty and she loves it, she says tick chart now when she goes.
The only time i intervened was when she hadnt weed for 2hrs 15 mins so i gave her milk and sat her on the potty and she weed.
She is now asleep so ive put her a nappy on and told her its a sleep nappy.
Hopefully some of you will come and join me.
When bare bottomes what do you do when they sit in their highchair etc, i have laid a nappy open in the chair.

i have found the pull ups arent absorbant enough for bedtime FOXY, dd will wear one for naps but at night she still needs a 4+ nappy.

Sounds like everyone is doing well, and my dd is the only stubborn little madam!

Last night was another dancing around, bursting to go performance (after about 6 hours dry) until I insisted that she sat down, and she managed to wee in the pot, but I suspect she stopped halfway through, as there wasn't much, and she had a wet nappy at night. She was pleased it all went in though. Again, today, just after lunch, and LOTS of drinks, I took her to the pot, and she spent an hour dancing around, until I thought I should just leave her to it, and she had an accident on the floor a couple of minutes later. Oh well...

Foxy800 · 21/04/2009 19:53

Thanks for that Ilovetochat, will stick to nappies then.

she is asleep now but her breathing is shallow and she keeps shivering, her room is 19C, hope she is ok tomorrow

Oh bless her! I hope she's better soon, ilovetochat.

Still going strong on the wees - goes without being asked all the time. No accidents since Saturday. Poo is still a different story - he hadn't done a poo since the accident on Sunday so I was getting a bit concerned last night. Then he did one in the bath, much to the consternation of his big sister ...

Foxy800 · 24/04/2009 10:10

So how is everyones los doing?

JOdy has been dry for a week now and doing well at home and when we go out, she wont use potty so have to find toilets for her to use!!
The only issue we are trying to overcome is she is dry at nursery(only 3 hours) but although she will sit on the toilet for them she wont do anything till we pick her up. If anyone has any top tips on this they would be greatfully received.

ilovetochat · 24/04/2009 14:28

sounds good foxy, does she have a special seat at home that isnt at nursery. maybe its just too much at the moment, im sure she will get it soon, at least she is dry.
DD still ill but she hasnt had an accident since last friday apart from some diarrhoa (sp) yesterday due to penicillin.
this morning i left her to try and get dressed. she had both legs through one pant leg hole and out the other leg hole and tried to put her trousers on from the ankle end, no improvement there then.
not sure how long to leave it before getting her on the toilet once she is better. Should i get a step and speacial seat?

After posting this morning I picked her up from nursery to be told she had done 1 wee today whilst there so guess was worrying about nothing!!!Lol

Hope your lo feels better soon ilovetochat.

JOdy decided she didnt want the potty so we went straight to the toilet but she prefers to use a toilet with a special seat and step. Hth

ilovetochat · 24/04/2009 15:49

yes thanks, where did you get the step from, is it a plastic one like at mothercare?

OP posts:
Foxy800 · 24/04/2009 17:39

Mine is one I have had for years but theo nes in mothercare I imagine are just as good.

In fact we have two as we have upstairs toilet too. For that we have a potty that turns into a step and toilet seat.Hth

The only drawback to going straight on the toilet is she wont use the potty out and about!!!We have to rush about and find a toilet but luckly she can hold it in till we find out!!!Lol

hoppybird · 24/04/2009 18:15

Well I think it's stalled completely here - really don't know what to do, except maybe for put her back in nappies and wait until she is more keen on trying. So frustrating though - she is actually dry at night, and can remain dry for hours - just refuses to try and use the potty (won't even entertain the idea of using the toilet). It just hasn't clicked for her, bless. She just doesn't want to acknowledge that when she's jumping, wriggling around and crossing her legs that there's a wee on the way. I feel that I'd have had more success if I'd tried sooner, when she didn't know how to hold on

ilovetochat · 24/04/2009 21:05

thanks foxy, will try mothercare.
hoppy, maybe wait till she can go bare in the garden and see the wee come out when she leaves it too long.

Foxy800 · 24/04/2009 22:09

No problem.

Hope you find what you want.

alicesma · 25/04/2009 16:50

Success today! DS did a poo on the potty by himself. We've had no wee accidents for a week and he seems to be dry at night too. He was also fine at pre-school on Thursday and Friday

I think we might be sorted although I won't be counting any chickens...

I hope your DD learns to let go soon, hoppybird.

Looks like everyone else is doing pretty well

hoppybird · 26/04/2009 13:34

I think I'll leave it alone for a while - we'll go back to nappies until she tells me she'd like to wear pants and use the potty. I don't really want a power struggle, which is what this is amounts to.

I know she will train in no time once she wants to have a go again, and will be proud that she did it herself. I have ordered some pretty pants for her, but I might wait a bit before I show her, so that we can start again properly, and she'll forget about trying to get one over on mummy.

ilovetochat · 26/04/2009 14:56

not worth a power struggle hoppy, she will get in when she wants, id wait a few weeks and then put the new pants next to the nappies and see what she chooses each day.
well no accidents here for 8 days so i think its cracked for now. gotta tackle naptime and get her on a toilet now. it never ends

OP posts:
hoppybird · 26/04/2009 20:02

Yes, she's clearly not psychologically ready yet, for whatever reason. She's never approached changes with ease though - weaning onto solids was challenging (on one tiny solid meal a day from about 7 months to 9 months) and until recently has been quite uninterested in food; didn't sleep through until January this year (at 2y 5m) ...

But that's a good idea, ilovetochat, about letting her choose either nappies or pants - I'll try that in a few weeks' time.

ilovetochat · 28/04/2009 21:42

dd had her 1st accident in 10 days tonight, we had been out and when we got home i went up to run her bath and dp was looking after her. apparently she said potty please and he wasnt very quick so she wet her pants and trousers a bit but finished a massive wee on the potty. im wondering if he wasnt listening
other than that she is doing great!

Foxy800 · 29/04/2009 20:14

Good to hear lo doing well. Jody is doing very well, no wee accidents for 2 weeks and no poo accidents since the weekend.

ilovetochat · 09/05/2009 22:05

well its been a month now and dd is doing really well and went for over a week without any accidents, but now most days at least once when she says potty she has already done a little bit in her pants. i just say try and hold it a bit longer next time and try and get it all in the potty but why is she doing this? tonight she just wet herself, a whole wee, she was tired but it has been weeks and weeks since she did this. i feel like she is regressing a bit.

Foxy800 · 31/05/2009 21:02

Thought Id bump this up and see how everyones lo is getting on?

My lo is getting on extremely well and even tells me to go away if she is doing a poo!!!

ilovetochat · 01/06/2009 15:47

hi Foxy, dd is doing well, she has a toilet seat now and had used it several times and at the weekend i forget her potty when she went to a party and she used the proper toilet with me holding her, since then she has used the proper toilet when out 3 times.
she is still too short to get on the toilet herself though even with her step.
Glad your lo is getting independent with it too!
