I hope someone else is training too as we can celebrate and commiserate together
since dd got up this morning she has been bare bottomed. i have left the potty out and told her where it is and left her to it mostly.
she has weed on it 4 times, pood on it once and had 1 accident near the potty while eating, she made no attempt to get to the potty and i think she was more bothered about her lunch.
i have done her a tick chart to tick whenever she uses the potty and she loves it, she says tick chart now when she goes.
The only time i intervened was when she hadnt weed for 2hrs 15 mins so i gave her milk and sat her on the potty and she weed.
She is now asleep so ive put her a nappy on and told her its a sleep nappy.
Hopefully some of you will come and join me.
When bare bottomes what do you do when they sit in their highchair etc, i have laid a nappy open in the chair.

Well so far today we have had endless trips to the toilet, with 2 wees in the toilet and no accidents.

Am really pleased as we have been out almost all day including at a birthday party where I thought she would be distracted!!

So hoping we have turned a corner, will see how she gets on when she goes back to nursery on Monday as she hasnt been there since we started potty training.

Everyone's lo's sound like they are doing very well.

ilovetochat · 18/04/2009 19:33

took dd for a walk to feed the ducks and we were out an hour and she was dry, yeah! as soon as we got in she was yelling potty potty and she just made it.
1 poo and 5 wees in potty, no accidents today so very pleased.
foxy - v impressive if she remembered at a party!

Sounds like your lo is doing very well ilovetochat.

Since posting earlier got dd ready for bed with nappy on then about 20 minutes later she said wee, took her, took nappy off, sat her on, counted to ten, didnt do anything, got her down but she didnt look very comfortable so sat her on it again and she did a poo!! SO really looks like she has turned a corner. Yipee.

Will see how she goes over the next few days.

alicesma - dd is 2 yrs 7mths, and has a good vocabulary, but she doesn't seem to understand bribery, unfortunately - I did try earlier in the week with chocolate buttons, but she didn't really associate success with that particular reward. I guess chocolate rewards are no big deal if Great Nana has just given you a giant Easter egg! Not tried stickers yet, but I'm open to any suggestions.

Well, after this morning's lone success, I've had a day of dd holding on excellently, but then dancing around desperately, not wanting to sit when she's about to wee, and ending up having accidents again. My ds seemed so much easier to train, I'm sure of it!

Foxy, your dd certainly seems to have turned a corner! And well done all the other LO's.

alicesma · 19/04/2009 09:04

Morning all!

MarmadukeScarlet - Sounds like the trip went well yesterday Good luck today!

Foxy and ilovetochat - Wow your LO's are doing brilliantly! No accidents for either of them! Hope it continues today

hoppybird - Ha ha - yes the chocolate buttons bribe is not the best at Easter! I tried before Easter with choc buttons but he got bored of them. Now we're on Fruitella sweets which seem to be working better. Stickers were good for a while with a present after getting 10 but he got bored of them too although they worked with my DD. Sorry I don't have any suggestions for actually getting her to let go! Hope today is a good day.

We had no more accidents after I posted yesterday lunchtime. He weed on the potty without being asked 5 times I think. So that was a breakthrough for us. No poo yesterday but that seems to be his pattern at the moment. DH got him up this morning and took off his nappy, but weirdly he threw a complete fit about going on the loo or the potty. He sat him on the potty and he did a massive wee through all the screaming so I don't know what that was about!

We're going out for lunch at a friend's house today, luckily she has no carpets!

He just did a wee on the potty without being prompted - hurrah!

Good luck to day everyone

ilovetochat · 19/04/2009 13:29

well i had a lie till in 11 and dp was in charge and dd used her potty all morning, 2 poos and 3 wees, she just said potty each time and used it.

OP posts:
alicesma · 19/04/2009 20:01

We had an accident free day as far as the wees go - he took himself off to the potty, took off his pants and trousers and did a wee each time, even at my friend's house

However, we had another poo accident in his pants. Yuk. Don't really know what to do about that.

ilovetochat · 19/04/2009 20:31

doe she show any signs he is going to poo or stop still all of a sudden, maybe you can really watch him closely and try and catch him before he actually does it?
dd has used her potty all day for 8 wees and 2 poos including 2 at her nans, they hadnt seen her since she started wearing pants so she has had lots of praise today!

OP posts:
alicesma · 19/04/2009 20:59

Yes he does show signs, but he's not always in the room with me, and I really want him to be independent about it like he is becoming with the wees. He has only been doing poos every other day so maybe he just hasn't had enough practice!

Congratulations to your DD - she's doing brilliantly

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 19/04/2009 21:00

Sounds like everyone is doing well. I am glad the weekend is over and DS is back in nursery tomorrow. Potty training getting a little wearing.

One wee in potty and one on the toilet today. Poos all over the place. Always when I am making tea or something majorly inconvenient! Poor DH is exhausted too.

At least DS is fine and happy with sitting on potty and toilet .

hoppybird · 20/04/2009 00:25

A few steps forward today, I think. Managed to catch half a wee in the pot after the holding on and dancing around routine - however, this time dd was more compliant about being put on the potty with no wriggles or protests. Also, about 10 minutes later, I made myself busy and left her to it for a bit, as I suspected more, and sure enough, she called out "I've done a plop in the potty!" (which was great, although initially she'd obviously started on the bathroom floor). But that was ok, she still got lots of praise for rembering about the potty.

Afterwards, we went to town for the first time in ages, in the pushchair in pants (first time), and then to the playground. She stayed completely dry, and I let her know she'd done well when we got home and she was also proud of herself.

Foxy800 · 20/04/2009 09:58

Well fingers crossed. Jody is back at nursery today for the 1st time since she started potty training!!!!

Foxy800 · 20/04/2009 13:03

Well we are home from nursery now.

Although she went out to the toilet loads she didnt do anything so no wees at nursery but no accidents either.
We then had to stop and see dp at work where he took her for a wee and she did a big one.

Not sure whether to class that as a sucessful morning or not.

ilovetochat · 20/04/2009 15:47

I think that is successful Foxy, no accidents at nursery is great
Hoppybird, sounds like your dd is doing well too.
We have been in the garden today and dd has only weed twice all day both in potty though so thats good and a poo in potty too

We started potty training 24 month old dd a couple of days ago but today is the first whole day we've spent at home with no distractions. The biggest problem we seem to have is that she hardly ever needs to go so she's hardly had any accidents to learn from!!! Last couple of days she has done a few wees and 2 poos in potty and a few accidents on the floor- and the biggest success was last night when she said she needed to wee and poo so I put her on the potty and she did both.

So far today has gone very, very well - no accidents at all. She's done three wees on the potty - both when I've put her there thinking that it must be time for something to come out after all the drinks I've given her (she has better bladder control than me!) and no accidents at all.

I still have no idea what to do when she goes back to nursery tomorrow - pullups, nappies or pants? I have no idea if they have a policy on this at all. I'll probably put her in pullups and ask them to take her to the potty every now and then. Wish I didn't have to work this week.

ilovetochat · 20/04/2009 16:57

sounds like she understands what to do so maybe send her in pants, they are used to dealing with potty training.

Hi cyrli, my dd has only been potty training for 1 and a half weeks and I sent her back to nursery this morning in knickers.

Well so far today we have only had 1 wee in the toilet but so far no accidents. WIll try her again in a minute after she has finished tea!!!!

Cyrli · 20/04/2009 17:41

We've just had an accident here now - first of the day after 5pm, not too bad! I'll talk to the nursery tomorrow morning and see what they think. Your little girl seems to be doing brilliantly iltc!

Cyrli · 20/04/2009 17:44

Foxy - did you discuss potty training with the nursery or just turn up this morning with her in knickers?

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 20/04/2009 17:59

Hi all. DS came home from nursery dry and in the same clothes - hurrah. He went for a few wees on the toilet but no number 2's.

I'm not getting out the party poppers yet though .

alicesma · 20/04/2009 20:13

We haven't had a wee accident since Saturday afternoon - just the poo yesterday. I think he might have finally worked out when it's coming! We'll see how he gets on at pre-school on Thursday though ...

Glad everyone's LOs seem to be getting the hang of it

Foxy800 · 20/04/2009 20:33

I turned up with her in knickers this morning but discussed it when we got there and had a couple of nappies with change of clothles and knickers in her bag.

I would have phoned up beforehand but the nursery only opened again today after easter.
Although they were quite happy to take her in knickers.

ilovetochat · 20/04/2009 21:04

They are all doing so well, do your dc go to school nursery like the year before reception or are they daycare nurserys?
DD has used her potty all day, 2 poos and 4 wees, not sure why some days she hardly wees. She hasnt had an accident for 3 days now.
There is a half hour walk tomorrow from a local childrens centre, i have never dont it before but im wondering whether to take dd as i wont be able to carry her potty/spare clothes aswell as a drink etc and control her walking.

My dd goes to a pre school ilovetochat.

Well after my earlier message I took dd to the toilet and she did a wee, about 15 minuts later she said wee, so took her and she did a poo. About 30 minutes later, now ready for bed with nappy on, she said wee, took her and she had done half a poo in nappy which she finished in toilet.
And she asked several times with nappy on for a wee, didnt do anything but was asking. So think when I go shopping will be picking up some pull ups for bedtimes.

Am working for the next three days so will see how she goes for Daddy.

Sounds like everyones lo's are doing fantastically.
