Pitchounette, sorry I didn't mean to try to "pump" you for details - I respect that you want to keep some information private. wrt specialist paeds - I suppose you could chat to the team at the hospital - once you've been there you could enquire whether any of them have a special interest in the symptoms your son's exhibiting. eg at a hospital in Liverpool I met a generael paediatrician who had a special interest in childhood constipation (incredibly, and increasingly common) but still saw lots of other patients - eg failure to thrive, mobility problems etc. I don't think her patients were short-changed, she obviously did her best for all of them.

wrt the healthcare system in France - I think you have to be lucky to get the "right" person - and unlike in the UK there's no centralised record keeping as such iirc, so people often end up having tests again & again (if they go for a 2nd opinion)
