4andnotout · 28/10/2008 20:51

Argh! I have been using paper liners in dd4's nappies (i never bother in dd3's!) and didn't realise how rubbish they are ! The nappies are stained anyway and they dont keep poo contained well either, shall go back to fleece i think i was trying to use them up as i have brand new rolls of onelife paper liners that i seem to keep inheriting..im sure they are breeding in the changing unit!
Bought some 40cm bamboo squares from clothnappytree yesterday as dd4 is a bit diddy for her jj squares yet, i can do the jo fold and roll the legs but they are still quite gappy and so are the small m'ease airflows but im being tight for a change and refusing to buy any xs
I have the washing machine repair man coming tommorow so have done another wash tonight just incase i need a new machine, i have to rent my washing machine and tumble dryer as we wear them out so fast i havent finished paying for it before it konks out! This way i can get a replacement or repair for no cash!

returnofrusmummy · 28/10/2008 22:20

4andnotout · 29/10/2008 08:53

Rusmum: try microfibre cloths from a supermarket, best boosters you can get and under £1!

kezjoben · 29/10/2008 09:28

I tried a tots bots last night with a bamboo booster & fleece wrap &
1- It just looked so big bulky & uncomfy on her
2- this morning when she woke and i changed her naooy she was soaking her bum was really wet .

Is this normal?
i'm i doing anything wrong?
i really want to give these a chance any advice really greatful cheers xx

babyjjbaby · 29/10/2008 09:34

they are bulky whenb ossted but it is good for there hips her bum would be wet if u did not use a fleece liner cos it is the fleece what wicks the moisture away

lollipopmothershalloweenghost · 29/10/2008 09:45

Kez - If you are using cloth for the first time after using a disposable then you're in for a shock with the wetness of the nappy, I nearly died when I first used cloth! You get used to it though so stick at it, you're doing nothing wrong. Make sure you use a fleece liner as this will keep her bottom dry. What Tots Bots nappy are you using? Is this for your 11mo? Some nappies are more suitable for night time use because they are more absorbent, you might want to start getting used to using cloth by using it during the day and putting a disposable on over night, this is how I did it as I found using cloth a bit of a palaver to start with but now that I have a night nappy that I'm confident with (Ella's House Bumhugger) I use cloth full-time.

wastingmyeducation · 29/10/2008 10:07

How many night nappies do you all have? If you use a different type for night?

xx

lollipopmothershalloweenghost · 29/10/2008 10:18

I currently have 3 x new style Bumhuggers and two old style Bumhuggers but I have one more new style in the post and intend on getting more over time. I don't actually know what else to use for night times.

Is it true that very young babies wee more than older ones? My DD is 6 weeks and her nappies are soaking, I would like to try other nappies for night time but would feel awful if she was in a nappy all night that wasn't suitable as she never cries about it!

wastingmyeducation · 29/10/2008 10:44

I suppose it depends how much they are feeding during the night as such, rather than age.

xx

BigBadMouseInHauntedHouse · 29/10/2008 12:34

rusmummy - 4 beat me to it - microfibre dishcloths - every cloth user should have some. Other than those hemp for slimness.

kez - I can't think of any TB nappy I would be able to use at night for my two cloth bums. Some people use the flexitot at night but it would be no good for us. Night nappies really should be fleece lined or have a fleece liner inside IMO. If funds are short you could try an eco-bumble (about £3 new) you can boost them as much as you need to and they are fully fleece lined. Definitely agree that getting the day nappies sorted first is easier.

babyjjbaby · 29/10/2008 12:38

can it be any dishclo9th do u know iff asda do cheap micro ones

MatNanPlus · 29/10/2008 13:15

RusMummy i took off the mn addy in the link but eBay no find page so i coopied the item number and viola eBay find so i copy the web addy and paste between with a space and then the words and ta daa

MatNanPlus · 29/10/2008 13:35

I found paper liners useless till baby started on solids, as she was bf the poop was always liquid, now, tho there is some coluring on the nappy the majority of the motion is on the paper liner, tho i use 2 liners folded 3 times so 6 layers, cleaning is easier and often a quick scrub under running water removes 90% of the colour.

BigBadMouseInHauntedHouse · 29/10/2008 13:54

babyjj - any microfibre dishcloth. No Asda near me but I believe they do a mf dishcloth 3 for £1. Tesco definitely do them. Don't be tempted by the bamboo ones - they are too loosely knit to absorb much.

babyjjbaby · 29/10/2008 15:49

just got back and remembered i never looked for them

returnofrusmummy · 29/10/2008 16:39
