4andnotout - what a cow! You should think about complaining about her.

xx

babyjjbaby · 27/10/2008 17:47

if i had to choose one nappy it would be a mothercare sqaure nice and slim easyily boosted quick to dry

4andnotout · 27/10/2008 20:31

I think i have just found the perfect nappy for dd4 right at the bottom of the pile and it's a mothercare simple shaped terry! They are tiny, nippa to the right size and very slim and as she is being changed every 2 hours it doesn't need to be very absorbant! And the best bit is i have 10 that i only paid pennies for

4 - I had loads of those for DS when he was born but he was too big for them. They are good for littlies and you can boost them too. If you have any medium fuzzi bunz they are a perfect fit as an insert - reckon they would be good inside wonderoos too but I gave mine away before I remembered to check.

rusmummy organic Sandy for me - good all- rounder, excellent fit and absorbant enough for DS. Can I have an Airflow wrap to go with it please?

FullMoonHowler · 27/10/2008 22:20

rusmummy - I'm still deciding, really... def bamboo Sandy's and pop-ins so far.... I woudn't go for tot bots, though quite happy with the bamboozles, don't think they're as absorbant as the other 2. like the wonderoo too (so so far I haven't answer your question - ask me again in a couple of months...)

baby - what's your tips for terry squares? I'm still having poo leaks at up the back...

lollipopmothershalloweenghost · 28/10/2008 08:16

Howler - I only got my Wonderoos yesterday and haven't put them on yet, hadn't realised that the inserts have to be washed various times before they get their absorbancy up, mine are new and I've only washed them once so far so don't know whether to risk it or not.

If you're wanting some Wonderoos I know that the lady I got mine off of was thinking of selling some more, I can put you in touch if you like?

I absolutely adore my Lovables, just got some brand new ones off Boo Coo for £6 as they're discontinuing the fleece colour (pink). I know they don't have any used ones though. I've just sent you a message on Facebook by the way.

I think if you're wanting a night nappy you should go for the Bumhugger though, I don't like them as much as the Lovables but they are very absorbent and I don't have an issue with putting Elizabeth in it for 8 hours overnight, I don't know whether a Lovable would cope with that as it's only micro-terry instead of hemp.

babyjjbaby · 28/10/2008 08:51

kezjoben · 28/10/2008 09:40

I'm newe to real nappies and have bought some to try i have bought tots bots organic & fleece wraps do i need to get anything else? x

FullMoonHowler · 28/10/2008 10:56

welcome kez. I would get some pul waterproof wraps. you also need liners (the poo-catchers ). I prefer fleece reusable ones with a 7wk old, but there are paper ones too. I'm sure one of the experts will pop up soon to give more advice!

babyjjbaby · 28/10/2008 11:05

yeh u definitly need water proof wraps as fleece are only any good at night no godd for the daytime motherease are the best wraps and fleeceliners keep the bbays skin dry like a disposable

kezjoben · 28/10/2008 12:05

thanks , i have an 11 month old , can you put the fleece liners in then a paper liner too? and will any make wrap be ok over the totsbots ? and how mant do u usually get throufgha day ? i have bought 4 nappies to try and 2 fleece wraps and a bamboo booster . x

FullMoonHowler · 28/10/2008 12:31

yes, you can do that, though the poo comes very easily off the fleece, just stretch it over the loo...

I personally use motherease airflow (popper ones) wraps over everything (I have a couple of tot bots) as I can adjust waist and legs independently. there are various sites selling used nappies and wraps if you don't mind buying secondhand to try out. Can't help you on the amount, as I guess an 11mo needs less changing than a bfed 7wk old... it also depends on how often you wash, and drying facilities. also depends on the material - bamboo takes a long time to dry but very absorbent, cotton is quicker to dry and microterry dries in a couple of hours.

FullMoonHowler · 28/10/2008 12:35

My pop-ins have arrived! slightly disappointed as they've run out of green ones, so have 3 white one and 3 blueish ones instead... oh, well, at least I shouldn't run out of nappies now!

returnofrusmummy · 28/10/2008 17:26

5 bamboozles for £13 posted, is that good???

babyjjbaby · 28/10/2008 17:32

babyjjbaby · 28/10/2008 19:10

MatNanPlus · 28/10/2008 19:22

RusMummy link i hope

BigBadMouseInHauntedHouse · 28/10/2008 19:27

babyjj - are you still after aqua bamboozles?

Hello kez - I agree you definitely need an PUL wrap - motherease are the best and I prefer the airflow - especially for a young baby as it has no stiff velcro band around the tummy. I'm assuming you have a bucket to store them in - no need to soak though. I find there is no point in using both paper and fleece liners at the same time. The fleece liner catches solids and keeps the bottom dry by wicking moisture away, the paper liner just catches solids. If you put the two together then the paper liner will stop the fleece liner wicking moisture away. Hope that makes sense.

4 I hope you've been staying away from the aibu topic - saw something on there about having lots of children being bad for the environment . I just briefly popped on as I saw the article in the Times had been quoted, made a quick post and ran off again.

It's cold down here now however it now means I've lugged the first of the firewood up from the woodshed and have my Sandy's drying in front of the woodburner - it gets superquick results . I'm awaiting delivery of my first pair of longies or DS. They are being lanolised before she sends them out. I'm quite looking forward to trying wool at long last

MatNanPlus · 28/10/2008 19:28

baby try soaking them in a bucket with a high salt content, salt sets the dye.
