I was thinking of knitting my own wooly longies and shorties. Do you know where I can get a hand knit pattern from BBM?

lacks - there are loads of patterns online (mainly in the US though) here's a good site with patterns from Oz (scfroll down). There are a really cute pair of longies on there which look like jeans (blue jean longies) . I don't knit so I hope the instructions are universal and make sense to you (i just forwarded the pattern to my mum .

knickers they are wool wraps which you don't need to put clothes over if you don't want to. Longies are like wooley trousers and shorties like shorts. They are really, really cute.

People, what can I do to get this thing moving!?!?!?! two weeks overdue and no sign of action is really beyond a joke! Now on daily monitoring, but really don't know how long I can push it before accepting that I'll just have to be induced.

babyjjbaby · 14/09/2008 08:56

ohno annvan poor u have u tried a real real spicy curry

AnnVan · 14/09/2008 09:48

Hi all! I think things are finally starting. Ithink I'm having contractions. About 8 minutes apart at the mo, and bearable. Not having to take anything for it yet.
At the same time, I'm trying not to get too excited in case it turns out to be nothing, or peters out.

Heartmum2Jamie · 14/09/2008 11:08

Ohhhhhhh AnnVan!!! I am excited for you! Come on baby, it is more than time to come out, think of all those cute nappies waiting for you! Fingers crossed that as there is no update yet that things are prgressing nicely!

lollipopmother · 14/09/2008 11:16

AnnVan That's brilliant news! How are the twinges now, still contractions??

lollipopmother · 14/09/2008 15:09

What's going on AnnVan, any further along?

AnnVan · 14/09/2008 15:33

Still roughly the same, contractions, but still irregular. Still at least they're still going, so it's a sign that things are warming up at least!

wastingmyeducation · 14/09/2008 15:38

Someone on MN told me to eat a mars bar and can of coke to get labour started and as I'd had my fill of pineapple and curries I gave it a go and things kicked off that night. Makes no sense, but I suppose it can't hurt!
Good Luck AnnVan !
I've decided to keep hold of my Little Ewes babyjjbaby , hope you find some soon.
I'm still waiting on my order of bamboo squares
Was looking a the Lollipo site as hadn't checked it out before, and some of those shaped nappies are pretty tasty! Can't really afford to start playing with those at the minute, but who knows what the future holds.
Really liked the look of the pop in, nice colours.
I really must try some new folds as DS poop keeps getting on the wraps and I run out!

xx

LackaDAISYcal · 14/09/2008 21:19

wme..have you tried the Jo-fold from the nappy lady site? I found it was great for poo containment, especially if you sort of roll the leg edges inside.

AnnVan...I hope you aren't reading this at the moment and that you are at the hospital cuddling your new baby. Good Luck

thanks for the patterns BBM....terminology a wee bit different but the kitting is the same. I'll figure it out . those denim longies are lush!

Heartmum2Jamie · 15/09/2008 10:06

AnnVan, I hope your little one has decided to make his/her appearance by now!

Was looking at all those longie links by BBM and I am kicking myself that i never learned how to knit properly. I can knit a scarf with lots of dropped stitches! Is it hard to learn?

someone on my PN thread mentioned that Waitrose are selling motherease nappies and wraps for ridiculously little prices at the minute.....like £1.99 for a nappy and £3.00 for a wrap! She said that different stores are charging different prices though. I've had a look online and they're obviously not available via the web. Methinks a trip to Harrogate is in order tomorrow...can just about justify a waitrose shop this week as we don't need a lot!

LackaDAISYcal · 15/09/2008 18:17

KOMH......I loved ellas house bumhuggers for overnight, and my recent trial of the new totsbots flexitot nappy was very successful overnight. tots claim it is about a third more absorbant than the leading disposable, and I can well believe it. Needs a pretty bombproof wrap though!

AnnVan.....looking forward to hearing some news

babyjjbaby · 15/09/2008 18:32

ahh i wish we had a waitrose near us if any has one by them and can get me a medium size wrap for a boy i will pay postage lol haven't a clue where the nearsest one is to me

mrsbigpants · 15/09/2008 19:21

Hello, I'm new to this thread and couldn't face reading all 743 posts, so hope these questions haven't been asked already.

I use BumGenius onesize nappies and love them, especially the fact that you can use a flushable liner to get rid of the majority of the poo BUT we recently had a blocked drain and there were a load of liners in the blockage. The ones I use can be washed if they're only wet, which I guess means they aren't really all that flushable! Has anyone tried a wad of loo paper as a liner instead? Would be much more flushable, cheaper and easier to get hold of, but I'm thinking that it may not stay together very well .

2nd Q - I wash without detergent to prevent build-up of smells, but now I can't seem to get rid of the ammonia smell (some of the wet nappies really make your eyes water even if they've only been on for an hour or so!). Any thoughts on how to get rid of this?

Thank you and hope all went OK AnnVan

babyjjbaby · 15/09/2008 19:37

hi mrsbigpants i would just buy the flushable liners pesonal can't help with ammonia smell as i use ecoball and a tad of washing powder
