You can always tell some women are childless by the fact that they....

...get in the way of you when you are in the supermarket dragging around a pram, trolley and fiddly child and then they sneer down at you with their basket full of organic lettuce, baguettes and mini-tampons while your trolley is loaded with nappies, a giant pot of Sudocrem and enough chocolate bars to re-sink the Titanic.

You then have to manoever around them while they continue said sneering.

God you can tell what sort of evening I have had, can't you? And I am embarrassed to admit that I used to be one of those women. I apologise to all you mums out there unreservedly.

Now for chocolate bars and MN......

we-ell, we could be supportive to nina.

Does anyone know of a support group for people who have had others look at them in an odd way whilst doing their tesco shopping...

When I had my last mc I stood in the aisle starting at a baby in the trolley, just thinking. Bet the parents thought i was thinking something awful, I wasnt, I was thinking my god you are perfection.

DD was conceived thru' IVF. The OP's post didn't hit a nerve with me at all. How could
being unable to conceive make you annoyed with families in a supermarket queue?

lol abstractmouse, it's so ENGLISH (I mean that in a good way) to think 'oh well, she take aGES to read a book, can't be that bright' !

Aitch I'm sorry if this thread has touched a nerve or upset you but I don't think that was the intention and hey, I was one of those women, so they do exist.

VVV, yep, me too, I am paying for all the smuggery of the 'I'm NEVER having them, omg, what does she think she looks like?' attitude of my 20s by looking like shite now

I am actually starting to laugh at this thread now. I think my hormones are raging tonight. I actually don't even know why I bothered to reply. Must need sex.

oh fgs everyone is being ridiculously argumentative.

He said/she said blah blah. This thread was borne out of a feeling of lack of tolerance...how ironic.

Re-read Squonk's post. Then, suck it up, build a bridge, and get over it. This is a sensitive subject for some. I dont think it's such a huge leap to see why that is, and folk are okay to say so. Some(times) folk need to look a bit beyond the black and white.

Aitch, I know, I realise the stupidity of it now. I agree to disagree.

btw, i stand by my original point, which was the rather anodyne 'i never was (a sneerer) nor do i remember meeting them (the sneering sorority)'. don't really see how that's so earth-shattering, tbh. it's not even an opinion.

c'mon everyone, it's not even a full moon, why are we arguing about this? It's almost funny. ImVVVVVHO of course

anyway, must go to bed, much as I'd love to stay and have a completely pointless row about someone looking at someone a funny way in a supermarket. maybe with contempt or longing or sadness or joy, who knows?

I actually have met women with children who are just as tactless. My friend is one. She has clearly forgotten the baby years and said to me today, "It doesn't take long to put a bit of fake tan on" . Oh fuck off, like I have nothing better to do was my reply.

I think people read something on MN and don't quite program into their mind what the reply actually meant.
