How do I talk about it to my children ?

I am a 48-year-old man with a classic style (every day in shirt, dress pants, tassel loafers) and my wife wants my both ears to be pierced with real diamonds set on yellow gold (identical to those worn by women).I have two children: a son (11) and a daughter (13). They will be very surprised to see me with both ears pierced by real diamonds. Should I talk to them about it before? How would you react if your classic-style father pierced both of his ears with real women’s diamonds? Thank you for your advice. Michael.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Why not start with 1 earring and just have a small diamond.

Just tell your kids that you’ve always wanted them done but didn’t get the chance when you were young and so are doing it now.

They will likely think you are having a midlife crisis but will soon get over it.
Don’t mention your wife wanting you to get it done, as that sounds very odd.

This is the weirdest, most trivial post I’ve ever read. There are women on here with real life changing problems and a man wants to know how to tell his kids he’s going to be wearing ‘women’s earrings’… WTAF???!!!

Well, if it's real...

There’s a very easy fix for this.

Just make sure you ask for “real men’s diamonds” at the piercer.

They will use a manly stun gun and an industrial laser to pierce your ears and the good ones will provide an authentic certificate of manly heterosexuality which you can show your children.

🤣🤣🤣

Twooclockrock · 21/03/2026 09:26

If women should be allowed to wear what they want (this I ama firm avocator of) then so should men.
Explain it in these terms, although I am not convinced this is in fact what you actually want. Maybe address that part first.

ClairDeLaLune · 21/03/2026 09:32

Michael, it’s your body your choice. If you want earrings then just do it. Don’t be stereotyping this as just a thing for women or gay people, it’s good for your children to learn that their old dad is modern in his outlook and defies stereotypes.

Is this part of some other transition? Seems odd to be worried if it's not.

This is a fetish post. I can't explain why or how but having read enough of them from creepy Vinted buyers, it's the exact same tone and odd way of describing things.

TimmyTheEunuch · 21/03/2026 09:48

Womens diamonds? Just get some mens diamonds- problem solved 🤷‍♀️

If you explain that they are in fact, real diamonds, I think they will be relieved that they aren’t dealing with a cubic zirconia situation. That would be very distressing.

Yes, this is key. Perhaps the OP could wear a little tag from each ear saying ‘Real diamonds, obviously’? Or ‘Not cubic zirconia’.

YouOKHun · 21/03/2026 09:58

In the closet Man at C&A.

MabelAnderson · 21/03/2026 10:00

Maybe let it develop slowly over time.. first one little diamanté clip on… then a set, fifties ones are nice. Then go bigger, BOLDER, have a look at eighties Pat Butcher, or for a more ‘classic’ approach, early Monty Don.
By the time you hit the piercing salon for your WOMANLY diamonds, they will barely notice. I think it’s called immersion therapy..

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 21/03/2026 10:02

As long as they are natural diamonds and not man made manufactured diamonds, and I personally think set in white gold or platinum is nicer.

I agree with the other poster re cubic zirconia.

Agreed. Fetish bait.

But what is the fetish ? I don't get it ...

Luckyingame · 21/03/2026 10:53

You what?

chewcheweewww · 21/03/2026 11:00

Tassels are for curtains, leave them off your shoes.

It doesn't sound like you want your ears pierced at all, you're doing doing what your wife tells you and trying to convince yourself that you want it to.

Don't do it.

RodeoClown · 21/03/2026 11:11

Just tell your children why you want to get your ears pierced with real diamonds. Just like you would explain anything else to them.

I am going to see the football match because I enjoy watching football.
I am ordering a Hawaiian pizza because I like it.

Edited

If he gets them made into a penis and testicles shape it would be a demonstration of ultimate masculinity.

I doubt any kid cares about a parents 'classic style' or jewellery enough that they'd need an explanation.

Being compelled to publicly wear ‘womanly’ diamonds with his Classic Look.

I can’t see how wearing earrings is a fetish.

I know loads of men who wear earrings.

The wife obviously has a thing for it but I’m not sure she’s got a fetish rather than just a preference.

Felix81 · 21/03/2026 11:49

Forced feminisation is a fetish.

Forced feminisation is a fetish.

So the wife has a fetish for female traits?

SplendidUtterly · 21/03/2026 12:08

Ok.
