have the money and can afford the pram you want why shouldn't you have it?

It would be different if it was a 16 year old living on benefits on the 10th floor of a council flat who had got a loan to buy it.
then i admit i may make a negative judgment.

AitchTwoCiao · 09/06/2008 09:40

well, i think she has her answer, rabbit. some people would have thought she had more money than sense, but most wouldn't. i do not enjoy a hypothetical OP, it's a nightmare for skimmers.

Guadalupe · 09/06/2008 09:44

well, I read the whole thread but didn't notice that it was the OP's.

well i suspected from the outset it was the ops but doesnt hcnage my posts

I would assume a doting grandma had pointed her in that direction. I don't have a clue how much any pushchair or pram costs. I have had boring practical ones and frequently looked enviously at my friends who had proper prams. I hadn't realised how practical they were until I saw them in use. I didn't even know silver cross was still around until I found mumsnet.

EyeballsintheSky · 09/06/2008 09:47

I'd look at it, smile at the mummy and think wistfully of a bygone age where things were beautiful. Don't get me wrong. I have a funky travel system now and love it but...sigh...

BlueDragonfly · 09/06/2008 09:48

i wouldn't know how much it was. depends on the area really. And what it looked like. Where i live there are quite a few of the old fashioned looking silver cross coach prams. imo they are ridiculous for round here where everywhere you go there are a trillion corners to go round - none swivel wheels are my nemesis

lol at it isolating you from the riff-raff with their mamas and papas!

goodness knows what people think of me with my grubby secondhand effort.

actually, maybe that explains a few things...

Disenchanted · 09/06/2008 09:49

I'd think

'thats a lovely pram'

Tortington · 09/06/2008 09:50

i wouldnt know how much it cost
i probably wouldnt look at the mum

babies don't interest me

i do however think its obscene to spend that much on a pram

QuintessentialShadows · 09/06/2008 09:52

Lol Lol Habbibu!

I did say I was judgemental didnt I? Why pretend I am nice and fussy and pink and with a big lovely Mary Poppins smile on my face when clearly I am a moody and snipey ogre!

I would be really envious of the house that she must have in order to store such a big pram! I have no idea how much prams cost though, so I wouldn't think about money/sense etc.
In my area, I think that probably I am the odd one out with my small practical from-birth Maclaren. There is some serious money around here!

cornsilk · 09/06/2008 09:56

I would think 'nice pram' and probably feel a bit broody.

Guadalupe · 09/06/2008 09:57

If it's your first baby and you plan to have others and keep it for all of them the it probably doesn't work out at much less money than someone who buys two or three different one for one baby, even if they do sell them on.

I've lost count of how many fold up pushchairs we've bought, the wheels wear out, come flying off down a hill, go mouldy in the crevices, get nicked on the bus.

MrsTittleMouse · 09/06/2008 09:58

Your pushchair was stolen on the bus??!?!?!

littlemisschatalot · 09/06/2008 09:58

many thanks everyone.

I'd think lucky you having enough money to be able to by nice expensive things.

Guadalupe · 09/06/2008 09:59

yes

The bus was packed, sat upstairs with ds1 and came down and it gone. It was a cheap umbrella one but still, we really couldn't afford it.

MrsTittleMouse · 09/06/2008 10:01

That's awful! To steal a pushchair from someone who obviously needed it to get their DC home. And to want a pushchair they must have had DC of their own.

WigWamBam · 09/06/2008 10:05

I'd think "What a beautiful/ugly/sweet/quiet/noisy [delete as appropriate] baby".

Prams mean nothing to me - I can't resist looking at babies though.

kiskideesameanoldmother · 09/06/2008 10:06

"Squillions of people round here have Bugaboos which can cost over a grand new..."

WinkyWinkola · 09/06/2008 10:07

Well, if i had a pram like that I certainly wouldn't be wasting my time wondering what other people thought of it because if they had negative thoughts, it would only their business and not really interest me.

It wasn't clear to me that it was the OP's pram either.

Is asking someone if they're jealous offensive?

Enjoy that lovely pram, littlemisschatalot. Your baby certainly will.

TsarChasm · 09/06/2008 10:08

Lol Guadalupe. That reminds me of the time our old MacClaren buggy basically disintergrated into a heap of canvas and wheels and poles whilst dh was pushing it . We chucked it in the nearest bin.

Littlemisschatalot - you go for it! I think they are beautiful prams. My mum used to have one for me and still gets all misty eyed about it. She even used to shine the wheels
