I just want to let everyone know that I just want to keep everyone updated which is why I'm posting so much but high today my daughter started our first day of kindy because they let me in to just do a test day and oh my god did it go bad you're still letting her go in on Monday but she woke up in a horrible mood didn't want to try it today at all and from the report I have gotten she she was trying to bite someone so don't know how to react to that and she refused to eat the food I sent with her because I forgot to use the cookie cutter I feel like such a bad mom she went in for her appointment and I finally talked to the pediatrician and did prescribe something a bit more better for someone her age formula that's a plus I don't know what to do now except cry

I have no idea what you've just posted but if you are crying (and confused) then maybe seeing your GP would be a good idea.

I really feel for you. Could you get her lunch for Monday ready in Sunday evening so that you’ve got a but more time on Monday morning and its a bit less pressured?

Which milk has the Paediatrician prescribed and have they said it could be ARFID?

Permittedperson · 13/09/2025 09:54

I was only asking because I am not familiar with kindy as a term.

If you’re so upset you should ask the health visitor for advice.

Is she or isn’t she going back to nursery (?) on Monday? Is she due to go full time?

ComfortFoodCafe · 13/09/2025 09:54

kindy what is that? Reception or pre school?

DorothyStorm · 13/09/2025 10:01

So, I think, she 4 with ASD and ARFID. And you’re struggling to manage her needs now she is at school. She will struggle with this as it is a transition. You need some specific parenting help with this so ask to pediatrician to point you in the right direction.

You need to be super organised to make sure you don’t forget things that could set her off, as that makes the day more difficult for you.

Kindergarten. I’m in the UK avd there are some Kindergardens near to us. Similar to Pre-Schools. Let’s not derail the thread becauae of a term. The OP is clearly struggling.

purpleme12 · 13/09/2025 10:09

Think PP was genuinely checking which she was starting

I wouldn't have known which one from that term

Newishmom · 13/09/2025 10:09

@BunnyRuddington yeah yeah I'm gonna prepare her food tonight before from now on it's just I was writing off the high and kind of forgot until the morning and I use the wrong word in prescribe it was more like recommending me if she ever went back to only milk try her with pedialyte (I think i have to inport that) and my normal formula

I only asked as I’m not sure what age they take, whether it’s a pre-school or a school nursery, how long the days last - that sort of information.

Newishmom · 13/09/2025 10:11

@Permittedperson she's in half days until I find a job and then she'll be in full days and she is in kindergarten

OP posts:
IceCreamWoes · 13/09/2025 10:12

Newishmom · 13/09/2025 10:13

You might be better to do two or three full days than half days every day as she will get used to the routine of a full day.

what time is a full day from and to?

As I said, given that you’re in the U.K. and she’s under five, I’d go to the health visitor for advice.

For yourself, given you’re so overwhelmed, I’d go to the GP.

Newishmom · 13/09/2025 10:15

@DorothyStorm thank you for your advice she's 3 years old it's just I'm wanting her too get used to the school environment

purpleme12 · 13/09/2025 10:15

I think maybe it's nursery/pre-school

I think maybe it's nursery/pre-school

That’s what I am now thinking but it’s not clear to me - that it’s some kind of private nursery?

if it’s full time private nursery that’s very different to pre-school.

BunnyRuddington · 13/09/2025 10:16

Have you spoken to the Birmingham Food Refusal Service yet @Newishmom?

And can you remind me how your DD got referred to the Paediatricians? Was it because of her food refusal or was it because they suspect ASD?

Is your HV supporting you with all of this too? It’s a lot to deal with in your own Flowers

She won’t be in Reception at that age though.

Newishmom · 13/09/2025 10:22

@Permittedperson well the place I'm going to does allow custom schedules so I do probably need to schedule that kind
Full day is 9 to 12
I've talked to her health advisor and they said I'm doing what's best it just takes her time to adjust
And I'm not too sure why I would need to go to the GP

Teachingagain · 13/09/2025 10:23

I would get her into a school nursery. It will be more difficult for getting a job but you will get support in place for when she starts school. Otherwise you may have to give up work while that’s been sorted out.

Contact SENIASS as they can support you through the processes you will need to go through like applying for an ECHP. Also find a organisation which can help work out if you can apply for DLA and carers allowence and help you do it. SENDIASS will be able to help you find an organisation which can help.

Has she been diagnosed as having ASD? Or is she in the pathway? Or do you need to sort this too?

There is always so much to do as a Mum to a SEND child but there are people out there who can help.
