Hello!

Post here if you have 2 or more kids under 3yrs.

We were formerly the 2 under 2 thread, but some inconsiderate DCs went and had birthdays.

Commence rambling / ranting / updates etc

TattooedGrrrl · 03/05/2008 20:16

jewelsandgems- we're all different i know, but i've not enjoyed the injection. My appetite is huge, and i've had massive emotional mood swings Can't wait until it wears off in a couple of weeks! I'm actually looking forward to normal periods- i haven't had one since 2005!

Chaotica · 03/05/2008 21:43

PMT?? Aaaaargh! I am like an evil vile strop-monster for days (although my kitchen bench is still intact hope you feel better for it, Jewels). Don't know whether it's worse after pregnancy or I've just forgotten how bad it gets (although I do seem to get migraines to go with it now). Might try the coil myself to see if it works (but I don't want to end up fat and depressed rather angry than that!)

More later perhaps, once I've cooked some food...

trioand3 · 03/05/2008 22:49

i had 3 under 3 minutes triplets

Wow, Trioand3 -- that must be hard to deal with .

BTW (before anyone takes offence), I didn't mean that the coil makes everyone fat and depressed, just that hormones tend to do that to me...

Kaybeeand2boys · 04/05/2008 13:03

jacob andrew finally turned up 28 apr at 5.06am weighing 8lb4oz

Jewelsandgems · 04/05/2008 13:18

Wow congratulations kaybee! And what a lovely name

How are you all doing?

Chaotica · 04/05/2008 14:25

Congratulations! Kaybee -- you must have been fed up with waiting. Tis a lovely name, as Jewels said.

Chaotica · 04/05/2008 18:04

Jewels -- I am at your dd2 weaning easily at 17 weeks. I'm still struggling with DS at 7m and he's not really bothered (didn't start till much later as he wasn't really hungry, although he did really well the first time). And then, just when I was giving up (reading the paper while feeding him, in fact) I looked up to find him munching a piece of broccoli rather than chucking it on the floor... (Unfortunately, he was then sick everywhere but at least he ate something.)

hey all, congrats Kaybee

dh did his back in so was in bed all day fri & sat
so went to a godchilds birthday party in surrey with the boys on my own - luckily the other adults helped out with ds1 whenever i was feeding ds2.
tho their kids are all older so nowhere safe to put ds2 down all afternoon.
and ds1 wouldn't fall asleep in the car so he didn't get to bed until 9 pm!

sun we had friends with their 3 for the day, exxhausting but fun.
today has been recovery day, lol.
and dh has got out of bed thank goodness, i am SO not cut out to be a nurse!!
anyway he's back off to work tomorrow so nurse-duties are over.

meanwhile ds1 managed to open the side gate and run away
we didn't even know until the doorbell rang, and someone asked 'have you lost a little boy?'
he hadn't got far but had crossed the road!. we only got him back cos the woman who found him was the poll station officer when i voted on thurs and remembered my name! so she asked some neighbours who came out for my address and they could say which house was mine.
luckily i had taken rescue remedy to stop me stropping at dh () so didn't freak out but we both feel pretty shaken.
needless to say gate is now locked - yes should have been before but he couldn't open it before...always one step ahead!

ds2 fine, 1 feed about 4.30 atm, mostly settles again ok and then wakes up about 7, so pretty good there. tho i am really dreaming of a full nights sleep...

right, trying to concentrate on waking the dead so best go...

TattooedGrrrl · 06/05/2008 07:13

Hi guys- who was it who kindly offered me some special bottles before, as DS2 kept bringing up formula? If the offer is still on, i'd really appreciate it. Went out Sunday afternoon, so DH gave him bottles, and he emptied his stomach every time. And it's pretty depressing, as i want to stop breastfeeding soon

Making a proper effort to get DS2 out of our bed aswell- managed until 10.30pm last night, so must be later tonight. Had to settle him 6 times in 4hrs...gave up then as so tired. I wonder if having solids has unsettled him?

Hope everyone is good anyway. Better go and tidy up and dress us- HV coming this morning for DS2s 6mth developmental check.

Cazwa · 06/05/2008 13:11

Congrats Kaybee!

Grrrll, have you tried different formula? He might not like the stuff you are giving him. IME they are slightly different. Cow & Gate (DD had) smelt minging in comparison to Hipp Organic which I give DS. Good luck anyhow. We found DS quite sicky initially when we put him on formula but hes fine now. I definitely got chucked up on a few times. Maybe try smaller amounts?

Chaotica - Im also struggling with weaning. Im going for the BLW approach lke I did with DD but he is crap at picking things up and holding them to his mouht, so Im holding it for him which Im pretty sure defeats the point... He is 6.5mo.

MIL out at moment with DH so catching up on here. Ooops got ot put DD to bed, she looks shattered.

Hi all and very well done Loopy for the execution of 'operation 3 in bed'.

Have a silly question; what is BLW?

Took Izzy for her second jabs today (yes we are late) well actually DH took her as I couldn't face it. Anyway, she is fine just a bit sickier than usual (I wouldn't have believed such a thing is possible....)

Have had a manic couple of days and just can't believe it's already wednesday tomorrow. The bank holiday was lovely and went shopping on Saturday to get my summer kit. By this, I mean St Trop, leg removal in shower creme, spray-on facial tanner etc and aparently a really dark tan is now in instead of golden glow so I am giving The Tango a go. Wish me luck.

Justkeepswimming you did well not to freak out after that!

I am going to stop taking the pil. Nope - not to get DD3 on the way, but because I am very moody and I think it's that. So, I am now on the road to no sex, trying to convince DH to 'condom up' (no chance) or approaching bun-in-the-oven-dom (again). (maybe my new Tango look will put him off ??!!) Aside from the coil, what do you all do?

justkeepswimming · 07/05/2008 10:01

jewels - blw = baby led weaning (see www.babyledweaning.com )
when you give them bits of food and whatever they pick up and eat they are ready for. i meant to do it with ds1 but the novelty of spoon feeding with pfb took over!
i am really hoping to try better with ds2, tho is it meant to mean that you bf more (or ff) for longer as they are getting less food down them. i don't know much about it yet but am planning to research it a bit more.

we are late for ds2's 2nd jabs too, and now he has yet another snuffle/runny nose so best leave for another week....
how's the tango ?
i am on cerazette mini pill, can't face coil (ouch) and not a condom fan, what are you going to do then? i want more dcs but not yet!

loopy - well done on bedtime!! i managed my 2 by 7.15 last night too, actually ds1 by 6.45 as he was knackered after nursery hoping i can hack the bf & blw tho i know what you mean about demand feeding for so long... was a relief to cut down with ds1 after i started getting 3 meals down him. just think it could actually be easier with 2?

cazwa - any blw tips??? and are you finding he has lots of milk still?

grrl - how was check? and how's bedtime going?

have thought more about ds1 escaping and yes a bit more freaked out by it the more i talk about it to other people. ah well there really is nothing to be done except prevent it happening again. now paranoid about the windows, surely it's only a matter of time before he figures out how to open them? but i can't find any keys anywhere

right, nursery day and ds2 asleep so must get off here and rush around like a headless chicken - squawk!

TattooedGrrrl · 07/05/2008 10:33

i take my hat off to anyone who does bedtime on their own.

Check was great- he's either on target for his age, or above. Bed was better last night for DS2- slept for longer periods, although i brought him to bed the same time as the night before. He slept better and seemed to feed less.

So hot today! Took them to the park at 9am to avoid the sun. I need some kind of shade net for the pushchair i think, and a sunhat for them both.

Had an unexpected windfall, so looking for some new clothes online

justkeepswimming · 07/05/2008 14:34

grrl - good news re check. hoping ds1 will have his 2yr one sometime soon but haven't heard anything yet. also should get the next bookstart pack.
i have a shade thing that fits to any buggy, an australian thing, will get the name later.

bedtime tonight on my own again dh rang to say he can't make it home tonight at all, so don't even have him for cup of tea in the morning i knew before kids that he would be away lots but that doesn't stop it getting me down.
he won't get back til after bedtime tomorrow either.

right enough wallowing!

have done lots of laundry, hanging out, some ironing, some tv (sky+ is full so i HAVE to watch tv today ). hoping ds2 will nap again so i can have half an hour before i go to get ds1. where does the time go?????

Kaybeeand2boys · 07/05/2008 14:45

hi everyone

wow isnt it warm!
what do you dress a newborn in in this weather???? ds1 was a winter baby so i've no idea...

DH off work till mon, then WHAT THE HELL AM I GONNA SO WITH 2 OF THEM???????????????????????????????????????????

got my half hour, literally no more than that, argh, could have stayed in bed all afternoon!

kaybee - yes just a vest, or just a nappy. when it's REALLY hot you can try lying them on a damp towel tho ds1 hated that!
find the coolest spot in the house and keep them there, or out in the breeze - tho it is cool in the breeze atm so watch out for getting cold!
yes, make the most of dh, then come on here for help/ranting!!
it's not so bad once you've done it, i've found the thought to be much worse than the reality.

loopy - all well, boys in bed, ds1 won't sleep properly at nursery (any tips????) so is knackered by bedtime. in fact, he loves his baths but asked to go straight to bed tonight popped him in the bath for a bit tho as was filthy!
need shower, food, tv (+ironing) and early night tonight - silver lining to dh being away - i can watch whatever csi/bones/er stuff that i want

feel bad admitting to this, but think i a getting bored
i mean i don't want to go to a stressful job but feel a bit cut off some days.
also wish people would ring me! think they think i'm so busy that they better not bother me but i'd love the excuse for a chat
and now getting peed off about ds1's birthday as PIL are so putting the other gc first (i know they will be moving to Oz but still...).
ah well, wine first, then on with my list!

now for bed, nite all

Chaotica · 08/05/2008 00:24

Hi Shanks and welcome .

And hello again everyone else once again work is keeping me away from MN, but it's good to read up how you're all doing. It's nice to be back there, but I have to be so enormously organised to get me and the DCs places on time (which is scary for me my mn nickname isn't chaotica for nothing ).

Good news for your DS on the check Grrrl. Our DS barely scraped through the behavioural bit and he has the medical stuff next week.

JKS it must be so scary your DS escaping like that. DD ran out of the front door and the gate and onto the road virtually in front of a car the other day... DP is still recovering (the scariest thing is that we were both right there always dangerous as we think the other one is watching her) and I feel pretty bad (although I didn't see what was going on quite so clearly). I'm seriously thinking of putting a note in DD's pocket saying who she is in case she runs off. (On a funnier note, she ran off in the shopping centre and raided behind the counter at the pharmacy, grabbing drugs by the packets and throwing them around... Drugstore Cowboy for toddlers... At least the staff were very nice )

And now, for today at least, I'm celebrating: DS actually ate a substantial amount of food . I sympathise with you Cazwa on blw I can't keep to it if I actually want DS to get anything in his mouth (although he's not too interested in purees either, although he likes trying to eat them himself 'baby led puree eating'). I think the motto of BLW is that food is supposed to be "fun until one" but I don't know whether DS finds it fun at all, so I'm not really sure what to do. Maybe today marks a turning point (wish him luck!) (after all, he is 7 and a half months now).

But I must give up this mammoth post -- goodnight all
