Hello!

Post here if you have 2 or more kids under 3yrs.

We were formerly the 2 under 2 thread, but some inconsiderate DCs went and had birthdays.

Having a lovely day... Sunshine, garden, playgroup etc... Until coming home from playgroup, DD had a massive tantrum about wanting to walk home (while going floppy and lying on the pavement the instant I got her out of the buggy) so I had to push her and DS home with her thrashing about and trying to escape, screaming all the while

...When we got home she put herself in timeout and then almost locked me out (which I presume was accidental). I'm now hoping she's about that have a nap [please!]

Cazwa · 08/05/2008 20:16

What a gorgeous day. If I could pause time then today would have been it. We all went plus Grandma out to a National Trust place today with lovely gardens and had a picnic, it was really quiet, hardly anyone else there and having an extra pair of hands made it so much more enjoyable. DD loved toddling around and showing Grandma things whilst DS lay on the grass kicking his legs - bliss.

Ive lost 13lbs in 5 weeks so feeling pretty good about that. Even got some white cargo pants on today that i first wore pre-babies .

Made a fish pie tonight from a Rick Stein recipe that seemed to require every pan in the house and am currently hiding in the living room as I cant face tidying the mess that is waiting for me in the kitchen.

Have completely forgotten to feed DS today, he will probs be old enough to open cupboards before he gets any food inside him. Have had a bit of progress munching on pear, pitta bread, but still involves me holding it for him which definitely defeats the object. "Until 1 its just for fun" keep chanting. Yes to whoever asked does it mean more milk for longer, I found that with DD, when she started nursery they were suprised at how many bottles she was still on and often forgot to give her them all. By 10/11mo she was eating 3 meals a day, but up till then was very hit and miss.

Whats The Tango??

JKS - I knwo what you mean about being bored, up until this nice weather I was starting to get a bit like that. Goign to make the most of the next 11 weeks {shock} before going back 3 days a week. Scary to think that will be it for career breaks for the next 30 years!

Cazwa · 08/05/2008 20:18

Forgot to add my crap experience, bought a Mamas and Papas Aria double buggy off Ebay for £28 pick up only, arranged to meet the woman, sat for 40 minutes waiting, ringign and texting her with no answer. That night get an email saying she didnt write her number down for me properly with grovelling apologies (she was waiting for me to text her to leave her office). Have rearranged to meet tomorrow, fingers crossed she turns up this time....

Hi everyone and lol at your DD chaotica - my DD1 has been doing the same thing. I was in Tescos the other day and she wanted out of the buggy. OK, I thought, I can handle this. She was fine all the while but at the checkout she kept running off to I knew the buggy was the only option. Full tantrum. Onlt stopped when I used the 'emergancy frutella'. Thank god!

The tango is definately a tango. Legs look better because mine look better the browner but otherwise, I am looking very orange. And my DH (who is simgaporian) is feeling a bit pale in comparison I think. Not sure whether that is good or not. Anyway, can wear lovely dresses and skirts and my new wedge sandals so that's good.

Yesterday was lovely, DD1 played outside and DD2 happily watching the world in her bounct chair.

I like the idea of BLW and will try and incorporate that into DD2s weaning. But, so far, she wolfs own porridge and baby rice and I have made some purees that are in freezer. May try her on that.

Bought some Gucci sunglasses last week and they are gorgeous. Expensive, so much so that DH has not been informed, but so worth it. I recommend it. I now go out on sunny days with no makeup, but my trusty sunglasses and no one is any the wiser!

Bye for now, off to sit beside DD2 who is squeeling uner her babygym....

xx

ok, just tried to catch up with this thread! not sure any of it stuck, my brain is cotton wool atm.

DD is two on sunday! Cant believe it. So as a pre-birthday treat, we went to the seaside yesterday. She was chanting "seee-side seee-side" as we got ready, took mil who was a bit of a spoilsport, she was upset i took picnic to the beach, she wouldnt eat as there was sand blowing in the breeze. Apparently they do it much better as they would eat on arrival at the grass verge on the side of the road when they parked She was also desperate to go into the town, but as we got there at 1pm i wanted to stay on beach so dd could play, she LOVED it. Honestly whats the point of driving for two hours each way just togo shopping, they have exactly the same shops at home!

On the p and t front, am loving mine atm. People dont know baby is there most of the time and get very confused if he gets whingy and they can hear him but cant see him. I did look at the vibe (FOLDS WITH TWO SEATS ON) but sooo expensive, so got the sport which hopefully is better for off road etc.

Received checklist questionaire today instead of 2 year hv check, waste of paper really it read, do you have any concerns, then do you have any concerns about talking/feeding/behaving to finish with do you have any concerns....so a tad repetetive!

GTG dd is trying to put biro in ds hand as he lies under baby gym, he isnt even 6 weeks yet, so a bit optomistic.

TattooedGrrrl · 09/05/2008 08:21

Hi all. Sounds like some of you have had some nice days out- wish i had the chance to take them somewhere in the car. At least when i pass my test, i can drive DH to work, take the kids somewhere, then pick up DH.

Cazwa- DS2 is not as interested in food as DS1 was. He'll do toast, oatcakes and banana himself (with varying success)but he loves baby jars of rice pudding. Going to mash some sweet potato for him for lunch, and see if he likes that.

DS2 stayed in his bed until 11.15pm the night before last, and 12.30am last night, so def going in the right direction

...half way through this post DS1 pooed behind the coffee table and got it all over the curtains, and DS2 did one of those poos that require 1000 wipes and gets in every leg crease etc. Blurgh!

littleducks · 09/05/2008 18:11

tandom pooing!
its the worst bit of two in nappies, dd peed over floor in toilet today, so as she was so close to toilet saying i need to go, im going to have to bite the bullet and train her. Maybe i should put out a request for a boot camp?

cant drive here either, kept getting pregnant when learning so have failed test and now theory test cert has run out

Jewelsandgems · 09/05/2008 22:43

Hi all!

I am also a non-driver. Same as you littleducks; was learning then got preggers, and all determination just vanished. Should really start again - although the thought of me and the girls' doing the shopping in the car does not bear thinking about!

Well we have a busy weekend: we have jo jingles tomorrow, then I am off for my full head of highlights and cut (takes forEVER) and then it's back home to create more Annabel Karmel culinary delights. Made salmon fishcakes the other day and DD1 refused first time, but gobbled them up today! And made some organic homemade chicken nuggets yesterday and she eat them all AND wanted more! I am just not used to this!

More good news is she is now 99% toilet trained. All day she is nappyless (but in her training pants) and at night I do still put on a pull up nappy but as long as I go in to wake her up, it is always totally dry. Do you think it is time for us to make her cotbed into a bed? And then she can get up when she needs to go? Or are we asking for trouble!!

Oh and I have a case of buggy envy. We cannot fit a buggy board to the P&T aparenrly (according to all websites) so was thinking that now DD1 does not like the buggy anymore (but is still a dasher-offer) to go for the Quinny speedi and a buggy board - need advice and help!!

Night-night

littleducks · 10/05/2008 08:34

p and t does fit a buggy board, but i think it may have been another brand IYSWIM as i have seen a woman with one on (without toddler seat obv)

hazeyjane · 10/05/2008 08:39

hello, sorry haven't been on the thread for ages. Have had lots of visitors etc, and both girls have got chicken pox (HELL!). Will try and catch up a bit later-or maybe someone could write me a quick sum up of the last 100 or so posts!

Hope everyone is ok

bigmouthstrikesagain · 10/05/2008 09:21

Can I be a bit previous and sign in now as in October I will have 2 under 3 (and 3 under 5!) - I have a 20mnth gap between ds and dd (she was 2 last month he is 4 in August) so I have been through the 2 under 2 trials ... and emerged looking a bit haggard but still here!!

I am a bit nervous about having 3 under 5 though as I can't help thinking I am going to lose one when we go out or something. But I have a big sister who has had 7 children with small age gaps (including two sets of twins - !!) and she is still just about sane and occasionally able to hold a conversation on the phone - so I have someone who can advise me at least.

So hope you don't mind me butting in

Yes great weather indeed. Finally went out today to buy DD some summer clothes (didn't want to do it earlier as last year the weather became one long downpour as soon as I did and I somehow felt responsible have just given last year's summer clothes away unworn as I don't think that in later years DS will appreciate being paraded around in a dress ).

DS has his 7m check with the GP tomorrow but has really cheered up recently. Could it be coincidence that this is shortly after he's sussed the idea of eating solids?? He's almost the happy little guy he used to be way back when he was 3m old, so hopefully the doc. won't have anything much to say.

Hazeyjane tried to come up with a summary, but it just made me want to throw a huge tantrum and storm off being sick on the way... (Sorry to hear about the chicken pox hope they're better soon.)

Must eat curry which just arrived.

Hello everyone

I have a dd who is 2 and ds who is 12 weeks both sleep great ie dd goes to bed at 7 and thats her to 8am and ds who has last bottle at 8pm and sleeps till 7am but during the day there a nightmare espec ds who doesn't seam to settle n wants constant attention

Jewelsandgems · 12/05/2008 21:26

Hello all wave

Very cute loopy - at what age did you put yours' in their beds rather than cot/cotbeds? Just turned DD1s into a bed and, after being fine for 3 nights, she called for me yesterday and I found in the middle of her room, blankets around her, crying! I think she'd gotten out of bed and couldn't find it to get back in again! Anywat, any tips much appreciated.

Weather has been glorious and I have also been washing lots and playing out in the garden lots.

The tango is still tango-y and, since my highlights were done the other day (and VERY light they are too ) I am now looking rather like a swedish glamour model. DH seems to like the new look but have been getting questionable looks from friends and family - maybe they think we are a bit hard up and I have started down the readers' wives channel? thankfully this is not true, and I shall decide what to do about my slutty appreance later when I am not so tired (following DD1s unsettled night)

Just sold my dress I wore to this years ball that was a while back and I am very upset to see it go. I felt like a total princess in it and now it's going still, I still have my ted baker dress I wore the year before abd have not got that much wear out of it....

Izzy also has a cough and I do feel for her - and I have a bit or a sore throat actually...

Waffling now so off to watch waking the dead.

Bye!

justkeepswimming · 13/05/2008 10:15

hi everyone
well today was my first day alone with the two DS's. It started badly with DS2 crying the whole time I was trying to give DS1 breakfast, but after I stuck him in the baby bjorn things improved, and we managed to get out of the house at 10am to walk to a friends place
DH came home early to help with bath/bedtime for DS1 so haven't had to do that yet!

Am sooooooooooo tired though. DS2 woke at 1ish and 4.45am and then DS1 woke at 6.45am so feeling shattered. Am hoping DS2 starts sleeping though quickly like DS1 did, but who knows.

DS2 now just over 2 weeks old, and hasn't been weighed since he was born. Am seeing HV for first time on thurs, and midwife fri to get him weighed and us discharged, but all very strange. I am desperate to know how he is doing.

Jewelsandgems · 14/05/2008 22:09

Hullo all,

Just about to go to bed and thought I's say a quick hi.

HV came today and declared how lovely Izzy was (though I'm sure she does that to everyone's baby) and was really rather snooty! (and I am considered snooty myself so this is saying something!) Anyway, since we have moved the new doctors have not got their arse into gear regarding her jabs, so our old surgery have been (very kindly) continueing to do them. Well the HV was very upset with me for taking Izzy to our old doctors! I was thinking as long as she gets the jabs that is the main thing? Obviolusly in the situation of health authority areas this is not the case!

Nothing else exciting happening so I am off.

xx

Chaotica · 14/05/2008 22:35

Hi All, and welcome Sheena1 I'm with Loopy on the question of settling your DS, btw -- get a sling if you don't already have one. I found it so useful when DS was little (or littler) and I wanted to spend time with DD.

LOL Jewels at your Tango and overdone highlights -- you must look real classy like...

I'm just about managing the back-to-work routine (actually, I'm managing better than I thought I would as I haven't totally flaked out yet). But DD is suffering a bit (probably with the pollen) and has become Ms Twoyearold Bossy-Breeches. I can barely move without a cry of "No Mummy!" (She'll be putting me on timeout next )

Meanwhile, DS is beginning to eat solids for England (Sadly I've cut down on my attempts at BLW, although he still has a lot of finger food, as just when we were getting going the GP recommended no gluten and no dairy until he's 1 (he has bad eczema ) but about the only food he could feed himself was toast... Don't know whether I'm going to take the GP's advice seriously yet (or just be careful about how I introduce foods). But it's a pain (given that we're vegetarian, this doesn't leave much). Vegan baby food, anyone??
(Actually, that's not quite true as he can eat egg.)

TattooedGrrrl · 15/05/2008 08:34

hello all!

Hope everyone's good. Not much to report here. We're letting DS2 come to bed if he won't settle for now- i had to cancel my last driving lesson because i was so exhausted from lack of sleep. Being as the lessons and test are so expensive, i'm going to wait until i've passed, then make him stay in his bed.

DS1 going to CMs today, my friend is going to sit with DS2 while i pop out to get my hair trimmed, then we're going for lunch somewhere, then i have a lesson later. Busy day!

justkeepswimming · 15/05/2008 08:38

hi all, mummy mojo reception somewhat intermittent here....

positives:
managed a shower with ds1 yesterday
haven't shouted at ds1 for ages
baked loads of fairy cakes for ds1's birthday (2 tomorrow!)

negatives:
ds2 on some kind of evil growth spurt and up about 3 or 4 times a night, plus not settling after about 4.30
have had some v early mornings zoned out on the soafe trying not to wake ds1
was only up twice last night - after resorting to calpol night as calpol had no effect.
fingers crossed he's getting over whatever it is (cold, teeth, growth spurt, jabs, warmer weather?????).

hi to everyone, sorry in a rush as usual
