Hello!

Post here if you have 2 or more kids under 3yrs.

We were formerly the 2 under 2 thread, but some inconsiderate DCs went and had birthdays.

it's like that mint advert, for every good thing that happens, a bad thing has to happen. you can't have a 100% GOOD day, there has to be some bad in there too...

bath fine, pyjamas fine, then ds1 starts mucking about & i feel myself getting fed up, i ask do you want stories, 'no', fine so i get up and start to leave the room, ds1 runs to get out the door first and trips on my feet...cracking his head on the corner of the bed
managed to hit himself right between the eyes

managed to sort everything out, just have to wait and see how bad the bruise is tomorrow

then, feeding ds2 it all washed over how bad it could have been, if he'd hit his eyes, or blood, etc...so of course i cried...ah well.

loopy - 5 times a night?! that would pee me off too. i guess it's harder to send the message of 'no' when boobs are right there?
slings:
ring sling - use occasionally but feel i haven't 'got' it
maya wrap - (my fave just makes me too hot)
baby bjorn - don't use, was given it
wilkienet - same as b.b.
really want something as comfy and secure as maya wrap but easier to put on, any ideas??? like a glorified boob tube i think?

katyt1 · 28/04/2008 20:59

grrl - xposted, at least you have got instructions for them and they know you mean it after 2 months.

Jewelsandgems · 28/04/2008 22:25

Hello everyone.

Well today I took DD1 to tumbletots 2-3 class and she liked the clapping and dancing bit, and the slidey bit, the tunnel bit for all the other bits she didn;t like and there was lots of crying. I felt to sorry for her, but had to put on this happy face and try and give her lots of praise etc. The result was I ended up very hot and bothered (not the cool mummy in my new vintage tea dress - yes topshop - that I have envisaged) and Freya teary eyed and fed up. At the end, the tunbletots women pulled me to one side and said that maybe the walking to 2s was more her thing. And that we should try that. Poor DD1, I just don't think I want to take her again and it's funny because before the class started she wanted me to take her home. So, instead, have enrolled her in a pre-school movement dance class at the local dance academy. It's unstructored and lots of fun, plus she can wear a little floaty ballet skirt and little pink shoes - much more her kind of thing.

Also had to put both DDs to be by myself today and just about came out of it unscathed - DH brought home KFC (thank you lord and I don't usually eat that because of the way the birds are treated) but it went down very well.

Ready for bed - tomorrow I an going to spend easy day - yeah right!

Oh and the Annabelle Karmel cooking still doing very well - it is all very tasty!!

Sorry this is fleeting visit, and well done on the driving grrrl! and the sleeping through episode Caswa

jewels - maybe the tumbletots is a bit intensive for now, floaty ballet skirt will surely win her over

up since 4.30....slept terribly anyway then ds2 up at 4.30, wouldn't resettle so gave up and came downstairs to sort washing...ds1 up at 5.50, so now on a cbeebies morning
another whole hour before normal breakfast time.....yawn...

at least it's nursery day for ds1

Loopy - essex so not much help! tho my parents are in plymouth... i have just ordered a pouch sling (from funky slings on ebay) - an African pattern on one side and plain on the other. spent lots of years in Africa growing up so it was waiting for me to come along and buy it
i just have such hot flushes atm that even the mei tai would make me overheat i think. love some of the fabrics tho! ah well, planning on more kids so will justify it that way to dh!!
(anyway my wrap is a plain dark green so not v exciting, cos dh wanted a plain one so he could wear it too, and he has so mustn't grumble)

so, AIBU...we have cleaners (lucky i know) who are booked to come once a week, tues mornings for 1.5hours (2 of them). but recently they have had staffing problems and can only send 1 person who comes at lunchtime. they are just leaving now i think and it means when i get back from bf group (when they are MEANT to be here) i can't go to bed and catch up on sleep - bear in mind i've been up since 4.30! ds2 has been asleep in buggy since we got home but me, no...just hovering about waiting for them to finish. then they will go and i have to be off to collect ds1 in 20mins, grr, grr, grr

i know, lucky to have them at all...

justkeepswimming · 29/04/2008 16:07

name change notification...

was katyt1, but that was way too boring. watch nemo ALL the time with ds1 and find myself saying this to myself on days like these when i haven't had enough sleep/rest/time off/etc.

just keep swimming, just keep swimming...

(has to be said in an overly cheerful voice too!)

ps can be jks for short!

GrrrlInterrupted · 30/04/2008 06:36

no sleep will prob spend the day fighting the urge to sleep and trying to keep my temper.

DS2 getting a cold by the looks of it- didn't sleep at all yesterday, off his food, woke 3 times before we even went to bed at 9pm, then came in our bed and woke me up every 20mins. Vicks and medised tonight i think.

thankfully there's half a tray of lasagne left from last night, so tea is sorted for later.

Jewelsandgems · 30/04/2008 07:21

Sorry about your crappy night grrrrl. It's amazing how lack of sleep can make even the most simplist of tasks seem not worth attempting and how any small whine from a toddler can have you wanting to dive into large black hole!

Mine slept fine last night, a quick wake and dummy in around 0130 and then nothing til 0630. I think I need to maybe start her on more solids as aparently waking at random times is a sign of hunger.

Made Thai chicken noodles last night out of the annabelle karmel book and it went very well! Again, DD1 only kind of tried it and then played with it, but little acorns and all that. DH and I really enjoyed it! And tonight it is sweet potato wedges and...erm...something else not yet decided.

Am post my request for a Kipper book (that promo on the fairy fabric softener) so hopefully get that soon. Don't usually send off for these things, but DD1 loves books so much!

Later

Evening ladies apologies for the absence (seems like ages but it's only been since Monday). Like the new name justkeepswimming keep meaning to change my own name but I'd have to let you all know who I am...

I'm just about keeping it together with work and the DCs no sick on the work clothes yet. (But I'm tired as hell glad I'm not full time yet!) And it's nice to be doing something other than catching up on the plot of Balamory and how the local building work is going.

Loopy and JKS I like my sling too -- I have a wilkinet but I haven't quite worked out the back carrying (either that or DS just doesn't like it as much because he can't see anything). Have a ring sling too, but both dcs just got stuck/toppled out so I guess I didn't get the hang of it .

oh loopy- tired weepiness sucks arse Hope you feel better soon

DS1 at CMs today, so i have run round doing as much as i can while DS2 was sleeping in his pushchair. Dishwasher and washing machine on, cleaned up after the dog, cleaned out the rats cage, put washing out and done some weeding.

Coffee now!

littleducks · 01/05/2008 11:26

jewels- sorry to hear about the tumble tots, but hope your dd enjoys the dance class instead, you have to find what is right for your child in terms of structure and there is no point doing things they dont enjoy. The major benefit of tumble tots is the equipment but in the summer it is easier to talke them to the park instead.

I also have pulled dd out of tumble tots this week, we are starting a messy monsters art and craft class instead. She has started to ask to do painting but with new baby i just cannot face it so hopefully this will be a compromise.

Been really messed about by courier delivering p and t pushchair, waited all day yesterday (they claim to have tried 3 times prior but that was rubbish) called at 6, they say stay til 6.30 driver def coming still not here at 7pm then they say tomorrow. So rang at 8.15 this morning and say they have already been but cant gain access to security door as nobody is answering the buzzer. There are no security doors or buzzers or anything like that here! So have to wait here today so miss mother and toddlers again. That is two weeks of no adult convo i could cry!

Refurbishment continuing next door, they are putting in new windows and floor boards so the drilling continues. It is unbelievablely loud and exhausting. I was in bed at 9.30 last night and am still shattered. Was wearing ear plugs but am terrified that i could miss courier so had to take them out. When the double buggy comes we will be going for long walks.

m&p 3-in-1 thing we were given, sits in living room for cats to sleep in
m&p aria - rubbish, hate it, can't sell it as bits missing/broken, sits folded up in dh's study so he hates it too!
bruin double buggy - bought 2nd hand, too heavy for me really, sits folded up somewhere
p&t - love it

plus we have:
new bike for dh with kids seat for ds1
little life backpack thing for dh to use with ds1

plus my 2 slings, 2 carriers (meant to say the other day, i don't count baby bjorn or wilkienet as slings really)
and new sling due to arrive any day so not a minimalist household here then!!!

what sling are you after???love nosing at new slings!
right ds2 moaning best go, back later.

mellymell · 01/05/2008 15:20

Quick question to you all.

I am about to have DS2 (due beg of June). DS1 is 19 months. How do you manage the bathtime at the end of the day with a newborn and a frisky toddler? Do you do them together or separate?

TattooedGrrrl · 01/05/2008 15:24

mellymel- i bathed one on one night, then the other the next for the first few months. Now they go in together every other night.

Hi Loopy are you selling your Twin twister double? Cos just google imaged them and they look nice! Yes, I do have a P&T, but sometimes nice to have an alternative with some storage space....if you were selling I may be interested.

Well I have pilates tomorrow and I am not sure what to wear. I am going to try it first, before I go out and buy lots of gear (that is pilates outfit gear not 'gear')

Izzy has been a upset baby today. She is now in her 4 hour routine but has not immedialtly taken to the fact I have dropped one of her feeds. It's like she knows somethings changed, but she's not sure what. The good thing is she is a hell of alot less sick now, maybe the 4 hours gives her time to digest everything before I go offering the milk again. Anyway, DH works from home tomorrow so have a bit of help. And I mean 'help' lightly, because he'll spend most of the time on the phone looking serious.

Has any of you been watching corrie? With Maria loosing the baby? I was tearful and felt awful that she had not given Liam the chance to be there for his son's birth. Sorry I am waffling. Best go!

Sweet dreams all.

Chaotica · 02/05/2008 17:53

LOL Jewels at you getting some 'gear' to go to pilates... (Oh for the wild life I used to lead... (or not -- I was really getting too old for it ))

Had a great day today - - went and took DCs to the woods (as per failed plan last week) and felt much better for it. (And DD has just started hanging out with kids she meets which is sweet tries to get them to play chase with her.) Now as if from nowhere DS has a fever (again ) hope it's only another cold.

Jewelsandgems · 02/05/2008 21:48

Hi all!

Yeah I know chaotica - me too and yes, I think when you reach 25 it is time to scale down any 'gear', any clubbing and wearing spandex.

The woods sounds great! DD1 loves things like that and if the weather ok I.E not raining then maybe we will take a trip too. We are going to Jo Jingles class tomorrow. They all dance around and get a percussion intrument to play and when this term finishes, it'll be time for her ballet to start (have to wait til she is 2 1/2 for ballet) and guess who's gonna be doing all the jiggling in this jo jingles class? DH? No! Me! And I will be bloody aching from pilates too! (BTW really recommend it girls - very gentle but already feeling the ache)

I have had MAJOR PMT today. And DH wound me up so I slammed lots of doors and literally scraped all the things off the kitchen worktops with my hands onto the floor. This included eggs, letters, keys - lots of stuff. But boy did I feel better for about 2 mins. Then felt really silly like a little toddler throwing her toys well I am going to get some starfruit oil tomorrow. Does anyone else find that post-baby PMT seems to be particulary strong?

Anyway, wishing you all good weekends. DD2 still not liking her 4 hour routine - may have to regress to 3 1/2 hours....

Oh and loopy will email you about the buggy but first, let me know your location because if you are miles away, the logistics may not be practicle for us to collect.

Cazwa · 02/05/2008 22:42

LOL at the sweeping things off the kitchen bench, I have been close to that many many times over the past few months. I think I threw an egg on the floor, how feeble. Seriously tho, hope you are feeling better. Im waiting for the PMT to properly kick in, Ive got a coil now and not yet had a period.

While we are on the subject of buggies... I have a P&T which I love, but do not want to take on holiday to France on the plane as I know too many people who have had their prams trashed. Plus my mum will be having both DC once a week and my P&T is a pain to put in her car. SO, I fancy a double stroller and wondered if anyone had a recommendation? Ideally £150 or less, I cant justify buying another pricey pram after I begged for a P&T with all the trimmings.

All is well here, gettign a bit sick of 4am feeds with DS, then 5am starts with DD. Had a lush 2 hour nap myself this afternoon whilst DH was home. I stil feel like I'll sleep soundly tonight.

Got MIL coming to visit sunday to tuesday, which is normally fine, except DH is working sun and mon night and will be sleeping mornings, so I am stuck with her and DCs. I get on pretty well with her but she doesnt approve of Baby Led Weaning and will be mightly unchuffed to see that Im doing it again with DS . Speaking of which he absolutely hates eating. Ive spent a week trying to tempt him with finger foods and even purees and he gets them as far as the back of his throat and throws up each time, then screams his head off as if Im torturing him. She also spoonfeeds DD all the time even though she has been capable of feeding herself for at least 6mo. Im always having to intervene mealtimes and tell her DD is full, stop trying to shove the spoon in her mouth . She could be worse, Im thinking of you here Grrrllll.

Hope everyone has a great weekend, even though the weather looks a bit pooey.

TattooedGrrrl · 03/05/2008 09:19

cazwa- we bought a 2nd hand McClaren single when we took DS1 to USA (pre DS2) It got a bit battered, but was very handy and usable. Maybe you could get a cheap 2nd hand double one?

Driving lesson soon. I always feel really sick before my lessons I'm terrible with nerves. And i reek of garlic after the curry DH made last night Am filling my gob with gum- poor instructor! Although he usually smells of fags, so hey-ho.

Jewelsandgems · 03/05/2008 19:08

Hello everyone, hope you are enjoying the Bank holiday weekend!

Chaotica I am thinking of the injection or something because I am like a mad women in the week running up to period and on the day I actually come on - well, you know about the kitchen bench indicent

Isn't it interesting how we all are P&T owners? Has any of you been tempted by the new Vibe?

Well DD2 is still being a screamy little girl but aparently there is some stage they go through at 17 weeks and guess what? She is 17 weeks. So, let's hope it's gone soon. On the plus, she gobbled down some plain babyrice earlier and I am going to make some fruit purees for her tomorrow.

Following on from my domestic godessness, I made homemade salmon fishcakes today and they were really nice - looked just like in the book. But, DD1 was not intersted and didn';t even try them. And for lunch I made her a peanut butter and jam sandwich and she made a face at that too! I thought, if you tasted it, you'd realise what a treat I am giving you! Anyway, am trying to increase the sandwich options she likes. Currently, it is cheese slices and sometimes ham.

DD1 went to Jo Jingles today and loved it. So have signed her on and no more tumbletots. At least not just yet.

Well off to drink chablis and eat chocolate brownies (not home made I'm afraid), bidding you all a very good evening.
xx
