Hello!

Post here if you have 2 or more kids under 3yrs.

We were formerly the 2 under 2 thread, but some inconsiderate DCs went and had birthdays.

Commence rambling / ranting / updates etc

Welcome bumbleybee!

I know what you mean about unsuspecting grandparents grrrl. When we are at my mum and dads I often see freya looking around their kitchen and grabbing things like ornaments and trying to open dad's toolbox!

The house is still a mess after the holiday but I have been cleaning and it is looking much better. DD2 has been a good baby today, and I am having to cut her naps again because she is waking too early for me. Even without her pooing at 5am, she still is waking up. So, no more missus nice mummy! That and she is cutting her first teeth (3 at the same time by the looks of it!) so I know that may contribute too.

I am putting the DCs to bed by myself tonight! SHIT! I have decided that DD1 is going without her bath because it is just too hard for me to feed DD2 in the bathroom, with all the splashing and then DD1 getting upset because I don't have any hands free to make beards and 'hats' (suds on head) so wish me look ladies - I'll need it!

And I threw away the steam sterilizer today which was great! Phew no more of that burny-fingery feeling! We stopped a few weeks ago when Izzy turned 5 months and I am so glad!

Anyway, off to get DD2 up!

bye for now....

Chaotica · 09/06/2008 16:40

Welcome, Bumbleybee

Glad you had a great holiday, Jewels.

I'm trying to make the best of having a garden: 2 days lounging around, with the paddling pool out, eating picnics and ice cream and so on. DD is loving it, DS is almost loving it (he likes sitting on the grass with his toys or hanging out in the swing -- had him in the paddling pool too for a while but he has another ear infection so he's a bit fed up), and even DP has been behaving (although he's at work today ).

On the down side, DD is loving it all so much that she had a monster meltdown when I decided that her increasingly knackered behaviour signalled time for a nap... I feel like a horrible mummy but she is sleeping soundly now so I should probably stick by my claim that that was what she needed... Shouldn't I??

Talking of grandparents as you have been -- I have to visit my folks this weekend (separately but a few miles away from each other) and I know I'm going to have the same toddler problem... that and the crazy shouting DS (they'll be so glad they invited us to a family party )

justkeepswimming · 10/06/2008 17:58

now correct me if i'm wrong but water shouldn't be used on electrical fires, right????
think fireman sam needs retraining

hi all
welcome bumbleybee
welcome back jewels

loving garden in good weather here too.
ds2 slept 7-5.30 hooray, nearly there..
ds1 up crying at midnight
and got a a massive scratch on his face at nursery

yes grandparents have too much non-toddler stuff yet insist he'll be fine
at least my parents i can tell or move things, plus aren't so emotionally attached to knick knacks that are left at toddler height!

sorry if i've missed a q, feeding atm and nearly bathtime...

You're right, JKS -- Someone needs to tell that Fireman Sam for sure...

(I got some idea or what my life was becoming when I realised that I regard Balamory as a documentary... )

Went searching for bunnies and playing on slides today (with picnic thrown in) not a bad life really (and perhaps the only to stay sane with a toddler around). I feel like I'm in a pantomime all DD says is 'no' or the opposite of what I've said... (oh no she doesn't! ) -- aaaargh! She likes bunnies and slides though...

Jewelsandgems · 11/06/2008 22:31

Hiya all, bunnies and slides sound good to me Infact, do any of ypu think it is not the silliest idea to get a cat? Am I mad wanting an extra thing to look after?

help help help! I need to find DH fathers day present - p;lease give me inspiriation!

Also Izzy now has a tiny of her first tooth poking out of her baby gum; I was quite emotional! And she has been staring at her feet lots today and trying to get them into her mouth. I say trying, because to me it looks like her thighs are way too chunky to permit such a manouver!

Sorry for quick post trying to look at lonline father;s day presents whilst DH is in sitting room. When he comes in I immedialty press flagD and I know he is suspicious!!

xxx

Chaotica · 11/06/2008 23:30

Ooh a tooth, Jewels. Congratulations to your DD2. And get a cat! (I say that even though ours is a grumpy old granny of a puss the DCs love her anyway )

Chaotica · 12/06/2008 22:06

Did you get the present, Jewels?

I totally failed to get DD to make DP a card at playgroup today as she was too busy serving pizza and cake to everybody about 7 times each (she'd made it out of playdough )

Jewelsandgems · 13/06/2008 08:16

Well Chaotica, I ended up ordering a pink tie from Thomas Pink (dd1 picked it out) but it can only be delivered monday so he'll just have to receive it then!

DD2 slept til 6am last night thus did not poo at 5am!! I should not get excited, as - now I've written this - her automatic 5am poo process will be once again activated!

I had DD1s jabs at the doctors the other day (she has missed all but her first 2 as a baby) and it was a total knightmare. I was referred to the baby clinic waiting room. This was a room accommodating about 25 which was rammed and then there was another 50 mums sat on the floor in the hall way. Anyway, there was this older girl who insisted on claiming every toy, chair etc as 'hers' so the other children could not play with anything. And he mother's method of dealing with it? Saying 'Hannah, no' in a very soft voice. Anyway, after all that there was no staff around and an appointment system did not seem to exist. since DD1 did have an appointment it was just total chaos. The women eventually called out the totally wrong name but since I was stood right behind her, I could see the name was DD1s so lucky me, otherwise I would never have guessed who she was calling!

sorry this turning into a rant

So then the health records system had not been updated to say DD1 has had 2 jabs, and only showed 1. I pointed out the red book had the 2 records, and that I was there and can vouch for the fact that she had her first AND second, but this was not good enough for them! After about 10 phone calls and half an hour she was eventually given her jabs. And the woman was saying to me 'hold her legs incase she tries to kick us, and hold her hands incase she tries to punch us' and I thought, what kind of children do you get in here?!!!!

All was fine, she did not kick or punch or even cry. They seemed very surprised!

RANT OVER

Chaotica · 13/06/2008 10:31

Clinic sounds awful, Jewels. I'm on your behalf. No wonder children kick and punch if they're held in a massive queue getting bored for ages.

Chaotica · 13/06/2008 16:43

DS actually rolled over today for the first time! (He's 8.5m -- I thought he was saving it for when he turned 18 (years that is))

Jewelsandgems · 14/06/2008 19:47

wow congrats Chaotica! And well done to your DS

Izzy does lots of wrestling with toys and ends up rolling onto her side and then over to her front - think by accident though (and then it shocks her when she loses balance and rolls back onto her back again!)

We had a lovely day today, DD2 did her 5am poo, but then after changing her, she went back to sleep til 7.15. Took Freya to Jo Jingles and then some shopping then home.

Just about to open a bottle of white wine and then settle down to some tv.

Wave to everyone!

justkeepswimming · 14/06/2008 20:41

sat here with glass of rose watching blue lagoon , well dh is out and i've nothing on sky+ other than endless fireman sam or bob programmes!

chaotica - well done to ds! ds2 still only going half way, think we're still some way off (he's 4.5mo now).

jewels - hope you are enjoying your white wine as much as i'm enjoying my rose!!
that clinic sounds awful, i hope you don't have to go back anytime soon. i've pretty much given up on weighing ds2 now as it's such a faff to get anywhere that can do it.

bought dh some real ale beers with ds1 for tomorrow (he asked for them) and got ds1 to make a mess with sellotape help wrap them earlier. plus we have a card from nursery, card from playgroup, plus ones we made by sticking cut out pictures onto card. ds1 got distracted by the lawnmower pictures so we had to go and cut out more (+ strimmers, new obsession) from a catalogue, so dh has rather a lot of cards

right, hi to everyone else, must get this posted befire the film ends and i have to go to bed...

Cazwa · 15/06/2008 22:24

Hi all
BAck from a hectic but lovely week in France with friends - 5 toddlers/newborns between 6 adults inc one pregnant meant a non-relaxing time for all! We had DD & DS sharing a room with us, albeit a huge room with a screen, but DD still woke up at the crack of dawn every day waking DS also, grr... Great trip though, now realise my DC are pretty well behaved and laid back compared to most, they were great on the plane too.

Feel very bad, our cat was at my parents for the past week, we went round earlier for a chat and forgot to bring him back!

Had a major drama the night before we left to go on holiday, DS ate a peanut butter sandwich (7mo) and had an allergic reaction to it, came up in hives and his face and eyes swelled up. Dashed him up to A&E and had to sit with him for 6 hours whilst steriods and histamines worked. Hes fine now, but I need to take him to the GP to get some tests.

DCs are at a lovely age, they are always laughing at each other and DS is starting to sit up well and amuse himself, so life gets a little easier.

Better hit the sack, gnight all.

DontlookatmeImshy · 15/06/2008 22:49

Hello. Can I join? Ds1 is 2.8yrs and ds2 is 4 months. Dh is already on about no.3 and I veer between thinking it's a briliant idea one minute and thinking NO WAY the next .

TattooedGrrrl · 17/06/2008 10:31

Hi don'tlookatme- welcome!

Haven't caught up with everyone's news yet. Had exhausting few days- DS2 feeding constantly, crawling at great speed, and pulling himself up on furniture. He's woken alot at night too, so mostly just been in our bed.

Went to collect some clothes for DS1 from someone on freecycle, which she said were hardly worn / unworn. As soon as she opened the door i knew it was a mistake- her house was like something from How Clean is Your House. She gave me 2 huge bags (even the bags were filthy) but i've had to bin the majority of it. There were stains all over them, inc what looked like blood, and i felt itchy just touching them. Urgh.

Busy week coming up- driving test Thursday, and off to stay near my parents this weekend as DSs birthday.

Chaotica · 17/06/2008 13:15

Hi Don'tLookatMe and welcome

Eeww, Grrrl -- you've made me feel all itchy now... [no correct emoticon emoticon] < Chaotica confuses even herself> I love freecycle (hate throwing things away which can be used) but it does have its drawbacks!

Congrats on your DS2 crawling btw, Grrrl, DS is eager to get going but he bashed his nose on a hardwood floor at the weekend and he seems to have realised that mobility hurts.

Welcome back, Cazwa -- your holiday sounds great. I'm jealous, but we just have passports for the DCs so I'm going to get looking for places to go... The peanut butter incident must have been really worrying though. Does your family have a history of allergies? I was just thinking about introducing DS to peanut butter, given he's currently a gluten and dairy free vegetarian baby until we find out what's making his eczema go mad (he has lovely skin at the moment, so it could well be something we've stopped him eating...). But I think you might have put me off that one for a week or two!

LOL, JKS about the strimmer card...

Chaotica · 17/06/2008 13:17

BTW, Grrrl: GOOD LUCK FOR THE DRIVING TEST!

(I'll try to send you some driving-very-carefully vibes on thursday...)

(...perhaps best not take the car out then )

TattooedGrrrl · 17/06/2008 13:28

thanks- i'm hoping for a bay park and turn in the road. I'm patchy on reverse parking and reversing round a corner.

I'm itching thinking about those clothes again. I love freecycle too- it's my 1st negative experience with it, so better luck next time.

Jewelsandgems · 17/06/2008 13:29

Yes, welcome shy and good luck for Thursday Grrrl - will be thinking of you too

We cut DD2s hair last night. She was born with a full head of straight dark brown hair (about 1 1/2 inches long at birth) and since then, it's grown so much but blonde and curly. Well you can imagine what that looked like! (rather cute I think, but she was getting lots of tats too) and now she looks sooo cute - still has dark ends of her hair as I would not cut too much off.

Didn;t go out today because of crappy weather and my hair looks crap too. DH will be home soon and then it;s time for shower, hair dry and GHDs and (you know me) lots of fake tan. And then going to see SATC!! We were supposed to go last week but I did not book tickets and it was fully booked. This time, have leather reclining seats booked and I can't wait!!

Also going to a candle party the week after next - has any of you attended one? Do I need to buy lots of candles? (And I really don't use candles while the girls are so young)

TattooedGrrrl · 17/06/2008 13:31

whispers What's a candle party?

Chaotica · 17/06/2008 22:09

still whispering I confess I don't know what a candle party is either... (could be because I'm missing something really obvious, or perhaps tis because I'm just a bit thick )

Chaotica · 17/06/2008 22:11

(So no help from me or Grrrl on the candle question, Jewels - sorry! )

Cazwa · 17/06/2008 22:29

whats a candle party also? gems you are so glam LOL, I never even blowdry my hair anymore. I at least did Dove summer glow my legs tonight. Ive also (TMI) had sex twice in 2 days after a week of none on holiday! Anyone would think we were trying for a third falls on floor at thought

Got docs appt tomorrow for peanut allergy, fingers crossed it goes ok and we get referral. Ive just eaten a peanut butter wholemeal muffin and thrown the jar away, no more in the house for me, boo hoo. Trivial really, I just want the whole thing to go away but need to be vigilant.

Good luck Grrrl, I found taking that calming drops stuff (god the name escapes me despite googling for it) helped me, comes in a yellow bottle and you take a few drops on the tongue.

Chaotica · 18/06/2008 00:35

Do you mean Rescue Remedy, Cazwa? Or have you another potion in mind?

Chaotica · 18/06/2008 00:37

BTW Cazwa I think you're right -- Jewels is the most glam of the lot of us, although at least I've started dressing better since DS has stopped throwing up every five minutes
