Hello!

Post here if you have 2 or more kids under 3yrs.

We were formerly the 2 under 2 thread, but some inconsiderate DCs went and had birthdays.

ooh, a bit too wet here today for ducks (well obv not for THEM!) and slides.
went to storyrhymes this morning - a stand in lady who was a bit strict i think, and prob now thinks ds1 is a right tearaway - emptying the shelves, not following her action instructions, etc.
got his bookstart bag tho so he's a happy camper

going to try baking later i think, after a quick shop for eggs, read it makes for a happier family... we'll see...

both boys asleep, i've had an hour on the sofa, life is looking up somewhat

Chaotica · 03/06/2008 23:15

Did you get your baking done, JKS? I can manage cake in 10 minutes now with DD helping (I make the quickest thing possible), so we made some when the rains started pouring down yesterday and kept us in...

We did make it to the slides though until DD took her favourite game of splashing in puddles to new lengths and ended up with water up to her thigh . ...She has no idea of the consequences of anything though (or doesn't care) I guess it might come with age for all she knew the water could have been too deep to stand up in. I feel like I spend all my time watching her like a hawk.

justkeepswimming · 04/06/2008 05:35

did get baking done thanks
they are horrible cakes tho and ds1 doesn't even really like cake anyway!
it was one of those instant packet mix things with postman pat decorations and all he wants to eat are the decorations
he enjoyed all the mixing tho and being allowed to lick the spoon, bowl, fingers!! thought since it's going to happen anyway i might as well encourage it

yes he loves splashing in puddles too, luckily not too many between home and shops otherwise we'd never get anywhere!
k
he was up at 7.10 yesterday! breakthrough? or fluke....waiting to see.
ds2 up at 6.30 yest but 5 today
it will pass it will pass....

they are both coughing too

nursery day today, hooray

DS1 isn't really into baking yet- although he likes poking and licking whatever we're trying to bake

Had to get up 3 times last night with DS2, then put him back in his cot. Gave up at 1am and brought him to bed then. Getting there slowly.

We're too broke to go to Germany in Dec as hoped, but i've just booked a week self catering in Menorca for this time next year Not our kind of holiday- we're city travellers- but it looks fab- pool / beach, soft play area, kids club, balcony for drinking and reading on when kids are asleep.

It's my wedding anniversary today

justkeepswimming · 04/06/2008 15:41

Happy anniversary

How many years?
we just had our 4th, tho we've been together for 13 years

well don't think ds1 was really 'into' the baking as such, just the same as yours, enjoyed the mess making (as i deep breathed and told myself that was part of the fun ) and licking the spoon. have got some nicer looking brownie mix so that at least we end up with something tasty to eat!

ds2 up at 1 then wide awake at 5
ds1 up at 6.20 so he's ok, think i heard him having a nightmare last night tho poor thing didn't want to disturb him just listened out and he went quiet again.

ds2 getting fed up being plonked on the floor to play so best go.

hi everyone

Chaotica · 04/06/2008 16:11

Happy Anniversary Grrrl!

More late I hope -- neither of mine will nap, and I'd love to. Am I allowed to nap without them??

TattooedGrrrl · 05/06/2008 06:34

it was our 1st, but been together 10yrs this year. Had a lovely night- curry, silly action film, too much wine and SEX!

DS1 at CMs today, and DH has the day off, so we're going to watch a couple of DVDs.

Chaotica · 05/06/2008 09:59

Sounds like you had a great night, Grrrl -- glad to hear it!

mixedmama · 05/06/2008 16:38

Hi can I join...

I have a nearly 2.5 year old and a 5 month old.

Am goign to read the thread now so i know who you all are.

mixedmama · 05/06/2008 16:44

JKS helloooo....

Chaotica · 05/06/2008 18:09

Hi mixedmama and welcome

I have an 8m old DS and 25m old DD (going on threenager, I think, although she's very sweet most of the time).

Don't even really need to ask all of you this, but are you finding you're toddlers just have a short-circuit when you say "don't do X" ?? Every time I say it to DD, it's like she has some sort of brain malfunction and just has to do it no matter that she knows it'll have consequences she doesn't like...

(Favourite book is behind the radiator again for instance -- and this time it's staying there!) (For a while at least...)

justkeepswimming · 05/06/2008 18:36

i suppose it's like me saying to you:

'DON'T think of a blue cow' !

gives them ideas that just have to be tried out.
i so often start 'tom, don't...' then just stop myself as he'll either do it anyway or be more likely to do it if i say not to. the law of sod

hi mixedm good to see you on here too

right, bathtime, back later...

Kaybeeand2boys · 06/06/2008 09:31

hi everyone, sorry been lurking but havent posted for a while!

ds2 been going through a crying all day phase, so have been a bit stressed out. Keep getting cross with ds1 as he gets whiney and wants attention while i am holding a screaming ds2....

On a positive note ds2 is sleeping a good 6 or 7 hour stretch at night which is pretty good for 5.5 weeks!

TattooedGrrrl · 06/06/2008 09:47

hi guys- sorry to hear about the crying Kaybee.

I'm currently tackling DS1 having crazy tantrums- total meltdown, usually approaching bedtime when he over tired. Everything i try makes it worse (ignoring him, reasoning, comforting...) Running out of ideas (and patience!)

DS2 crawling and eating better, and it looks like he trying to make his 1st sound (sounds like a 'B' to me, although i've been coaching him to say Mam for ages)

I am SOOOOOOOO glad we're not having anymore kids though

mixedmama · 06/06/2008 13:26

My hubby keeps saying no more... but i am so tempted for just one more.... 3 has always been my maximum so feel like if i dont have a third might have missed out on having a girl... altho must be said that i would be very happy with a 3rd boy. Just got to convince DH now... have said when DS1 is 5 which would mean he willbe at school and DS2 will be 3 so at least part time nursery.

Cazwa · 06/06/2008 13:32

Hi all, just a quick post while both are napping (yes thats right, DD is finally nappign again!). We go on holiday tomorrow for a week in France with 2 other couples and their kids. Going to be manic but fun, although the forecast is for rain tomorrow

Now DD is back in cot she is sleeping much better and napping again, Im so relieved. DS is a dream with his sleeps too, he is going 11 hours at night and having 2 good naps a day, hes even better than DD was, although not in the beginning.

He refuses to sit up or crawl, and vaguely rolls over from tummy to back, so is very much following in sisters lazy footsteps. She runs around like a hooligan now though so Im not worried.

Just had a spray tan with both of them in the beauty salon with me - what a complete nightmare! They both screamed continuously for 10 minutes solid and DD tried to grab me numerous times wiping the tan off. The woman was great though and told me to let them cry, wouldnt do them any harm, which is true. I am now a muddy brown colour, hopefully when I wash it off tomorrow I will look vaguely normal. Right now Im too embarrassed to even go to the shop and get milk!

Heres to lots of sun and vin

mixedmama · 06/06/2008 13:39

Have a nice holiday Cazwa.... I have 7 weeks till my hols, but will have a full 4 weeks in Turkey with loads of family to help out. PLus for the forst time in 3 years DH and I will be able to go out for our birthdays as we are both august babys.

Chaotica · 06/06/2008 17:39

Have fun Cazwa!

about the holidays (France or Turkey would be fine by me!) Have just sent off for passports for the DCs, but I've no idea where we're going or when. Anywhere! (We went to Wales last year which DD loved but I'd like to be able to guarantee more than two days of sunshine this time around!)

Both are actually napping (but only after DD has screamed the house down for a while -- normally I'd bring her back downstairs, but she was up until midnight last night quite happy except when we turned the light out and said goodnight at which point she started screaming. Don't know what's going on there; maybe she's getting ill (but she went for a walk today and was fine).

Talking of walks, I noticed that DD is getting this 'unpleasant consequences' thing, even though she doesn't want to acknowledge it -- she was really careful before jumping in even the shallowest puddles after last monday's episode of going in almost up to her waist...

JKS whatever it is, don't do it (!) (I get what you're saying entirely can't stop thinking of blue cows now )

Sorry to hear about the crying, Kaybee. (I take it you've tried a sling?) It must be really wearing on all of you.

Congratulations on the crawling, Grrrl's DS2. DS is at the sitting and throwing himself forwards phase, but no crawling yet (can't even roll over and he's 8m) -- at least he can sit now though.

Chaotica · 06/06/2008 17:40

Sorry, Kaybee -- I should have added a tearing-your-hair-out emoticon for you. Is there anyone who can give you a break?

Jewelsandgems · 07/06/2008 20:34

Hello all

Well we are back and had a lovely time. Was stressful, and DH for some reason thought we'd be able to sit in the bar with the girls whilst they played nicely (what was he thinking?) but we just accepted our situation and sat outside drinking and reading and - oh yes - more sex. Infact we had forgotten certain somethings so DH had to do and see what the site toilets had.

Anyway, DD1 loved it - the swimming and slides and the dancing so all was good. Am kinda glad to be home, but also it was very beautiful up there and now life returns to normal

DD2 is still doin' her pooin' at bloody 5 in the morning but now, we just change her and pop her straight back to bed. Thought this was all over after the introduction of Apple, but nope - but then I must admit we did not take any apple on holiday. Our fault then?!!

Cazwa I have had spray on St Trops lots of times and they give a really really good result. Saying that, I usually have a double spray (but then you'll know from previous posts how I do prefer a more tango-flavoured tan )

Welcome mixedmama and yours' ages sound the same as mine! I don;t know about you, but I cannot wait til christmas when I'll have a nearly 3 year old and a 1 year old! (oh jus think of the lay-ins!!)

Wave to everyone and wishing all your DCs long sleep-filled nights.

mixedmama · 08/06/2008 13:39

that sounds great...3 and 1. am trying out our new buggy board today but not sure ds1 is going to stay on for long. just a quick one as ds2 is in my armns so cant type

Bumbleybee · 08/06/2008 14:02

Hello, can I join you? I have Ds1 nearly 4, Ds2 26 months and Dd 4 months, so do I meet the criteria??

mixedmama · 08/06/2008 20:08

Wow bumley I think you defo meet the criteria.

TattooedGrrrl · 09/06/2008 08:54

hello bumbleybee

Took the kids to my grandparents yesterday, as they have a lawn and it was a lovely day. I drove there too (9 miles) Was nice, but when the kids had been outside for long enough, we sat indoors. I kept closing their doors to keep the kids in one place, and my grandparents kept opening them again. 'Oh he can't do any harm' my Gran said about DS1...yes i said, he can only fall down your stairs, draw on your walls, break your ornaments etc etc! They've not had a toddler for so long, i think they've forgotten. Anyway, DS1 kept hurting himself and picking up things he shouldn't have, so i was glad to come home to my child proofed house in the end!

Off to the doc's this morning for hayfever tablets i can take while breastfeeding- wish me luck, i'm really suffering.

Hope things are better Kaybee, and everyone's getting lots of sleep.

Bumbleybee · 09/06/2008 13:35

Hi all, this week has started much better than last week, Ds1 went into preschool without hanging on to my leg, Ds2 left the classroom reasonably willingly and baby was sleeping, when it works it works well, when it doesn't........chaos takes over!
