5 year old ate my Mother's Day chocs

Just found DD has sneakily been getting my Mother's Day box of chocolates from my bedside drawer and has eaten 3 out of the box. We only allow sweets once a week and never have dessert. Obviously the temptation was too much! A few weeks ago she found a large bar of chocolate belonging to DH and ate more than half! When we found it she owned up straight away and we banned all sweet treats and chocolate for a week (no chocolate spread, no sweets or chocolate, no biscuits and no milkshakes)

Should I punish her for the latest chocolate stealing? Are we too strict overall with sweet stuff?

She's a really picky eater she survives on crumpets with sugar free chocolate spread (we only introduced the chocolate spread as she won't eat butter and then will eat no toast or crumpets etc) berries, tofu, rice, pasta and cucumber mostly.

Any advice on the picky eater stuff or appropriate discipline would be appreciated

Sad to see this thread still going. I feel so sorry for the little girl, such a miserable way to to grow up.

Oh for gods sake, have the latest posters lost the ability to READ ALL THE OPs POSTS.
You just click READ ALL on her first post and you can see how it all played out. For gods sake don’t post if you can’t be bothered to do this.

@fishstiks ooh it’s tricky isn’t it. I have 2 young girls who would gladly live on chocolate. We have a very healthy diet, and when weaning they ate everything. Similar to your DD, their tastes have scaled right back at the moment but they will eat vegetables and fruit. So, I pick my battles - I remind them that chocolate isn’t good for you BUT it is tasty and most people enjoy it, so I let them enjoy a freddo a few times a week. They have never tried soft drinks or crisps, I can live with the odd packet of Haribo! I always say no if they haven’t eaten any vegetables off their plate, and if they meltdown it’s time for bed not pudding.
