Feeding baby in car park?

Erlouise · 17/01/2024 11:06

Hi ladies
do you think it’s acceptable to feed my baby in the car in a car park?
im going out with some friends to a big trail park and it’s far too cold to feed them on benches in the park so thought I could head back to the car in the warm to do it abd can also do any bum changes then too.
DP thinks it’s cruel and has said to find a coffee shop but that means strapping a hungry baby into car seat and driving off all while they’re screaming for a bottle which I’m just not prepared to do

Op said she’s bottle feeding!!

PillowRest · 17/01/2024 13:45

I always offer mine a feed in the passenger seat when I've done a food shop or been out for a bit.
Otherwise if she's crying I've no way of telling if she is hungry or just not wanting to be in the seat.

Erlouise · 17/01/2024 13:58

Sorry ladies I seemed to have started something here!!
I do agree with most of you, that better to feed in a nice warm car never thought there was anything wrong with it and so glad that most of you agree!
loved the comment about the macdonalds drive thru lol… will defo be mentioning that to DP later on!!!
skmetimes I think he doesn’t realise how hard things are that I really don’t have time to get her in the car and drive somewhere when she’s crying for a bottle of much rather just feed there and then so as not to upset her.
glad most of you get it …

@Erlouise absolutely fine imo, I've done it many a times, if baby wakes before we get going he will need a feed otherwise crying all the way home.

I don't understand why it would be cruel, surely more cruel to delay feed or do so in this freezing weather.

Pollywoddles · 17/01/2024 14:05

I can’t count how many times I’ve fed or changed my little one in the car. I’ve no idea why it would be cruel.

@DappledThings

Yes you are quite right.

I was just responding to the hyperbole of the other poster.

And agreeing with @DappledThings that's going to be warner...... how odd!

You weren't a girl guide were you?

kisstheblarney · 17/01/2024 14:23

AyeRightYeAre · 17/01/2024 13:36

@kisstheblarney

lol no but it's minus 7C outside just now and only about one degree 'warmer'inside the car.

So no amount of keeping the doors closed is going to change that. 😂

So it's ....... warmer?

LittleMrsPretty · 17/01/2024 14:48

How do you know it will be windy?

I mean both suggested options will
be nicer than the car for different reasons.

I assumed OP was BF as thought she needed the car for privacy. Of course it doesn’t matter.

What makes you think it won't be windy?

It very clearly states in OP that she's bottle feeding, so your assumption is incorrect.

Moral of the sorry is read the OP!

LittleMrsPretty · 17/01/2024 14:51

I also cant find where it says bottle feeding. Nothing wrong with feeding baby in car I just had a different opinion of why would you want to? Do not understand the nastiness?

Edited

Second to last line of the OP!

Honestly, you've totally made up your own narrative to give your opinion.

Not being nasty, just pointing out you're wrong.

There is such a thing called windchill though….

That’s why in any weather forecast you have the ‘real’ temperature and the ‘feels like’ temperature.

LittleMrsPretty · 17/01/2024 15:13

Why does my opinion have to be wrong? Why because it’s different to yours does it make it wrong, instead it just a different opinion.

It's wrong you based your assumption on breastfeeding, it's clear from OP she's not!

It's wrong you assume there are other places available to feed, OP has said she doesn't want to do that and the reasons why.

So those are wrong? Not opinions? Facts!

I also say your opinion that the car won't be warmer is wrong because clearer it's enclosed, so it will.

mathanxiety · 17/01/2024 15:22

Your DP is being silly.

LittleMrsPretty · 17/01/2024 15:28

my assumptions are my opinion so please Fuck Off with your nastiness.

AyeRightYeAre · 17/01/2024 15:32

@JustExistingNotLiving

Yes wind chill is a factor. Today the wind chill takes it from -4C to -7C so the car is probably few degrees 'warmer' than that. Obv once you've had the heater on for a while that changes. But when you first get in the car its basically just as cold as when you are outside - minus the wind chill factor.

That said others have made good points about the seat inside the car being more comfortable on your bum than a cold bench.

This morning I had ice inside the car as well as snow outside. It certainly wasn't toastie.

Assumptions and opinions are two different things, so you make no sense!

You couldn't even read the short OP!

Not sure why you think you can tell me to fuck off, because you be pointed out your inaccuracies and inability to read a short post, even when it was pointed out to you! Still couldn't see it!

You don't like being wrong, do you?

No one said it was going to be toasty, just warmer than outside, as you've confirmed!

LittleMrsPretty · 17/01/2024 11:10

I dont think the car will be warmer than a bench tbh but absolutely fine.

In a car they will be shielded if it’s a bit breezy plus she can always put the car heaters on so yes it would be warmer in the car than on a bench

ellabella2345 · 17/01/2024 15:39

Of course it’s fine what do you do if baby does a poo in the car seat normally? Just pull over and change the back seat, who looks for a coffee shop!
Way better to feed make sure baby’s happy first then go on with your day, car’s good for feeding especially if your baby gets super distracted like mine! I’ve breast fed in many a car park !

ellabella2345 · 17/01/2024 15:40

😂 I had to sit on someone’s front wall once !

Coconutter24 · 17/01/2024 15:42

I don’t get why your DP would think it’s cruel to sit in the car to feed it would be much more cruel on baby to drive around with them screaming for a feed, you’d then have to get parked after finding somewhere, then get baby and bag out car find a table etc, you are definitely right and he is being unreasonable

MillicentRogers · 17/01/2024 15:42

How can it be cruel?

It's the most obvious solution!

Does he often come out with stupid things?

AyeRightYeAre · 17/01/2024 16:02

@kisstheblarney

Aye -3C or -4C is warmer than the -7C outside. 😂 You are so right.
