Feeding baby in car park?

Hi ladies
do you think it’s acceptable to feed my baby in the car in a car park?
im going out with some friends to a big trail park and it’s far too cold to feed them on benches in the park so thought I could head back to the car in the warm to do it abd can also do any bum changes then too.
DP thinks it’s cruel and has said to find a coffee shop but that means strapping a hungry baby into car seat and driving off all while they’re screaming for a bottle which I’m just not prepared to do

Just to reiterate that I think that OP should feed wherever she feels comfortable and that neither feeding in the car, nor feeding outside is cruel.

@kisstheblarney

Aye -3C or -4C is warmer than the -7C outside. 😂 You are so right.

Yes 3 or 4 degrees warmer... what's not to understand GrinGrinGrin

If your argument is that both are too cold, that's not how you started off.

So why are you laughing at the car being warner? And arguing that's it's not going to be warmer?

Very odd indeed.

I fed DD literally everywhere (EBF) - car frequently. Radio on, heating on - lovely! My car is electric before anyone panics about petrol fumes.
Since on food we have had many a “car picnic” too.
We live in the countryside so a coffee shop could be 40 mins drive away.

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 17/01/2024 16:14

I fed my 9 day old baby walking around tesco 😂 no one batted an eyelid. Also fed him in the car and all sorts.

I breastfed my son in the car at a graveyard after a funeral... I think you're fine 😂

Anisette · 17/01/2024 16:16

What on earth does he think will be cruel about it? If the baby's warm and fed, she'll be perfectly happy.

@kisstheblarney

I am leaving you to your tedious pedantry. Enjoy. You 'win'. 👌

That's great! Thank you for letting me know 👋!

If they're getting back in the car after walking somewhere, the car will be loads warmer than a couple of degrees warmer than the outside. Presumably, within 3 hours at the absolute most, OP, DH and DC will have driven it to wherever it is, it'll have warmed up on the drive there, and it will be daytime.

I would say even if its -7 outside (which it won't be not even with wind chill) then the car will be at least +10, maybe more if they've only been gone an hour.

Darkofnight · 17/01/2024 23:29

I don't think there's any need to go back to car for bottlefeeding, but if you want to that's fine, it's certainly not cruel. Might be a bit of hassle depending how far you are from it, but certainly not as difficult as driving to a coffee shop.
For nappy changes or breastfeeding in winter I'd be happy with the car too.

surreygirl1987 · 17/01/2024 23:44

Why in the world would this not be okay. I fed my babies in the car all the time! It's warm and it's a seat! Better than sitting on the floor in the dirt, freezing cold! Ignore anyone that says otherwise - how weird!

surreygirl1987 · 17/01/2024 23:45

PS I've also breastfed my youngest while trying to climb a ladder at a playground to rescue my weeping older son who got stuck. That wasn't great. But a car? Go for it!

margegunderson · 18/01/2024 15:22

I breastfed everywhere- up mountains, on the beach, on benches. Probably in a car. Cafes weren't baby friendly 25 years ago. Fed is good - where doesn't matter.

TheTigerWhoCameToEatMyHusband · 18/01/2024 15:23

Yep was feeding mine in the car before going shopping in tesco. Better than the baby changing room that stinks of shit.

110APiccadilly · 18/01/2024 15:31

Having done it lots (I had a very tiny, very hungry baby during a time when no cafes etc were open due to COVID rules - the weekly food shop often meant two feeds in the car) the only person it's cruel to is you! I was breastfeeding and trying to get into the right position in the front seat (3 door car) of a very small car while not banging DD's head on the gear lever is not an experience I miss. DD was quite happy though.
