Yesterday I sat down with my 5 year old and realised I didn't know..

much about her really..

We always spend lots of time together and do stuff/stay in etc and we talk a lot but I haven't in a long time asked her about herself.. I ask about school and everything else but basic things like

What her favourite colour is
Which has been her favourite holiday
what's the thing she likes doing more than anything else in the world
what her favourite food is

Does everybody else in the world know these things about the children and I've just missed something key?

I asked her loads of questions.. I think she thought I'd cracked up by the expression on her face.

She also looked at me like I was a complete idiot when she told me 'pink' was her favourite colour.

Am I a bad MOFO? or is it normal not to know this stuff?

Didn't see this last week.

We had to do portraits of our Mums at school. I painted mine in a green dress with pearls and a bright red face (nice - she does have a red face, but still, could maybe have done without the candour) and wrote:

My Mummy loves driving. Her favourite food is fish and chips and once she fell in love with a man in a shop!

She had a great parents' evening.
