Yesterday I sat down with my 5 year old and realised I didn't know..

much about her really..

We always spend lots of time together and do stuff/stay in etc and we talk a lot but I haven't in a long time asked her about herself.. I ask about school and everything else but basic things like

What her favourite colour is
Which has been her favourite holiday
what's the thing she likes doing more than anything else in the world
what her favourite food is

Does everybody else in the world know these things about the children and I've just missed something key?

I asked her loads of questions.. I think she thought I'd cracked up by the expression on her face.

She also looked at me like I was a complete idiot when she told me 'pink' was her favourite colour.

Am I a bad MOFO? or is it normal not to know this stuff?

11 year old dd's home-made card had this written inside:

Dear Mummy

In times of hardness you bring me through
I love you totally, through and through
Though meek and little is my gift
If you are sad, to your side I will be swift
And now on Mothers' Day I swear to you
that you will love me and I will love you.

Love and kisses on this mothers' day and forever,
dd xxx

When Ia sked her if she had made up thr poem, she replied yes except for the last 2 lines which my friend made up

When DS was doing his class assembly all the children had to stand up and say what their mums favourite things were...After hearing coffee, coffee, tea, shopping, tea DS stands up and proudly announces...

My mummy likes slippery nipples

He was, of course refering to the sambuca and bailey's cocktail (which in itself is embarrassing enough) but I don't know if all the other mums realised he meant the drink...
Luckily his teacher did know he meant the drink but he had told her he was going to say 'going to the gym' but changed his mind when he was on stage. Little shit cherub

inspired by this thread, I asked ds a few questions. Apparently mummies 'make you happy' (he knows which side his bread is butttered)! His favourite thing is 'going to school' and his favourite colours are 'Red and blue and green and pink'.

My dd also said mummies make you happy...or drinks...her favorite thing to do is play with her best friend (who isnt who I thought it was going to be...), her favorite colour is pink (still!), she loves her hello kitty top and jeans. Apparently my favorite thing is coffee and the computer

I Do make a lot of drinks..
