Anyone with kids with closeish birthdays?

DS turns 2 at end of Nov, the day after I turn 37 weeks pregnant with his sister.

as he was a bigger baby (3 days early too, ELCS) they do not want to let me go over my due date. So either, sweeps from early as possible, induction or another ELCS.

I am leaning towards trying for a vaginal birth, but if they’re saying they don’t want me to go over my due date Which I get because I’d be scared to give birth to a bigger baby, then DS and DD’s birthdays may be a week / two weeks apart (3 at max but I’m assuming they’d like me to come in earlier and not go right up to Due date)

has anyone got kids with birthdays within a month of eachother? Or few weeks! DD will definitely still be born December, I don’t believe I need to be induced on 37week mark which is day after DS birthday so I’d probably be either 38/39 so will be a week or two from his birthday

i have terrible mum guilt:( even though I. Will do everytning to make their birthdays seperate and special! Always

Yes and now they are both at school they are having a joint party this year 🤣 it’s fine for them but expensive for you, unfortunately.

Hunsmet · 29/09/2023 15:46

No issues with my DC and close birthday. They are all summer birthdays, so it was quite useful when they were little as we could buy big and fun things like a 14 foot trampoline as a joint present for them all.

All three of ours have birthdays in Nov and then Christmas hits. We manage

2 of mine are 5 days apart.

kezzyleah · 29/09/2023 15:56

My children have birthdays 8 days apart with mine in the middle! It's fine, when they were little they had joint parties and it stops them being jealous of each other's presents! It's never been a problem, just a busy and expensive season!

isittheholidaysyet · 29/09/2023 15:58

One day between the birthday of DD and DS
4 years between them and another sibling in between.
The year DD was born his birthday was a very quick celebration, but we did a large party a few months after in the summer (which was also as he left nursery which was nice)

Normally they have separate celebrations. Sometimes on the same weekend. There have been years when DD has had a party on DS's birthday. But he would have had a party at a different time.

Rudeface · 29/09/2023 16:00

Dd and ds are happy to have their bdays four days apart because they don't have time to get jealous of others presents.

CassieRole · 29/09/2023 16:04

Not really a lot you can do to change it 😁

Definitelysometime · 29/09/2023 17:18

Seven days apart here. I've only ever seen it as a positive tbh - they and we love it. They've had a couple of joint parties. My dsis and I are two days apart and have always loved it, so nice to get together each year to celebrate 😊

duedatesnap · 29/09/2023 18:47

DS2 had same due date as DS1. Cue lots of jokes of once a year sex but we started trying for them at totally different times, it's just what happened. Both due dates were also Grandma's birthday which was bizarre. DS1 arrived on the due date. (Can never top that birthday present for her). DS2 waited an extra few days. I am v glad they don't actually share a birthday but when they were small it was great to be able to combine the parties.

My birthday is 1st Oct. My DD was born on my birthday. My DH is 2nd Oct.

I'm currently 40+2 pregnant....

My long term plan is joint birthday parties for everyone!

Wow @Scaraben this is amazing - please come back and let us know when baby arrives!

skeletonbones · 29/09/2023 21:01

3 kids with birthdays in the same 2 and a half weeks here, 6 days between the first 2. Always been fine, we stagger the parties a bit by having the first one the weekend before the birthday and the last one the weekend after.

Nomorescreentime · 29/09/2023 21:07

My eldest two are two weeks apart. It’s great! Birthday season.

Badseedmum · 29/09/2023 21:26

I have a twin so we share the same birthday and my other siblings birthday is two weeks after ours. I never even gave it much thought, I didn't even realise it was a thing to be worried about having birthdays close together until I came on here!

Me and my twin always had joint birthday' parties until we were about 10 or so. I have happy memories of them and never felt less special. It would have been more strange to have separate ones! Absolutely no issue with it.

BigBoysDontCry · 29/09/2023 21:29

My two are 13 months apart so birthdays a month apart. It's never been an issue but luckily they are both in the summer so no clash with Christmas

minisoksmakehardwork · 29/09/2023 21:59

All 4 of mine have their birthdays within an 8 week period. It's fine. They all have their own thing going on, even the twins. In the younger years it was 2x joint parties but that stopped by ks2.

StackingCupss · 29/09/2023 22:14

NC as horribly outing.

I have a gap of 3 years exactly. To the day, almost to the hour.

Ill let you know how it goes soon on their first shared birthday 😬

Blessedbethefruitz · 29/09/2023 22:18

3 years and 7 days apart here - in January. Dp is also between Christmas and New Year. Expensive. The kids are too small yet to have any feeling about this.

coxesorangepippin · 29/09/2023 22:30

DS is Dec 26, DD Jan 6

We usually do a joint party

Probably won't this year as DS is ten and a bit old for that

coxesorangepippin · 29/09/2023 22:31

Sorry - should have said that there's 3 years difference, not 15 days or whatever

🤔😄

Wolvesart · 29/09/2023 22:43

Me - one sibling a decade older, I arrived on his due date and he on mine
3 days apart. Mother’s birthday same month.

The DH - 3 siblings, siblings 1 and 3 birthdays 4 days apart. Sibling 4 shares birthday with brother in law and one of their children, his wife one day difference from my birthday.

Re your original query - when they are small joint party. When they are older it will be expensive but hopefully ok if you budget ahead

LoveBluey · 29/09/2023 22:52

4 days apart for my two with mine a week later. It's fine we just throw up the balloons and banners and party all month! The only year it was tough was when youngest was born as I was kept in hospital so missed older ones birthday but since then they've loved having the same birthday week!

TheMumLife3 · 29/09/2023 22:54

I've got my two sons 8 days apart in July and a son and daughter 4 weeks apart, July going into August

trying2decide · 29/09/2023 23:02

I'm currently pregnant and the due date is my son's bday! It doesn't worry me at all TBH, and I'm secretly glad they're winter babies as I feel it's better for when they start school.

FWIW, I'm a twin so always shared my bday and it was a non issue.

EachPeachPearNectarine · 29/09/2023 23:06

My 3 DCs are all within five days. Complete non issue apart from sometimes I get stressed doing all the cakes!
