Do primary school girls not wear trousers?

DD just started reception, she wore a skirt the first couple of weeks when it was hot. Last week it was raining so I put her in trousers. All the boys are in trousers now rather than shorts but every girl in her year that I've seen is still in a skirt. This morning I was looking around on the way in and out of school and I didn't see a single girl in trousers. I'm just thinking aren't their legs cold? I remembered when I was in infant school a couple of times when I was the only one in trousers and I remember feeling really embarrassed about that, and my DD loves skirts so I bought her some thick tights and put her back in a skirt so she's not different from the others. But that's so much more difficult in the bathroom isn't it? Do girls start wearing trousers in winter when it's proper cold??

I bought knee high socks, my daughter has never worn them and the argument and upset that erupted the first day was awful. I had no idea it would be so upsetting for her, she said tney make her feet hurt 😂🤷🏽‍♀️ and I can get no other sense out of her!! But luckily I’d also bought ankle socks so we could swap. And we have worn the knee high socks since then but I rolled them down for her.
I agree on the choice.

Our reception have a slightly different uniform and are all required to wear joggers or leggings or shorts - no skirts/dresses.

This was to assist in making it easier for using the toilet.

Y1 all the girls were in skirts/tights/dressers. None of them wear trousers/joggers.

it’s still warm though so most kids are still in shorts/skirts.

My year six wears grey shorts in winter and gingham shorts in Summer. I don't think she's worn a skirt since before COVID. She doesn't like trousers though so the shorts are great for her. Ideally I'd like her to wear tights underneath on cold days but she finds them uncomfortable so it's knee socks. She never complains of being cold. I'm not sure what we'll do in September when it's skirts or trousers in high school.
