Does anyone use a sling/wrap with their newborn? Any recommendations?

I am looking at buying the boba wrap to help my DD be up right after feeds and ease trapped wind.

Thank you 💕

I had about 2.5 weeks of mat leave by myself. However husband has started a new job and is now working from home (except a couple of days a month). I’d felt fine by myself, except the days when she wouldn’t settle unless on me, or just cry the day away.

It’s only been 3 days of him working from home, but I’ll admit I’m much calmer when she’s crying endlessly. It’s also so nice to see another adult, even if I’m determined to still parent mostly alone whilst he works!

DH went back to the office on Tuesday gut works from home on Fridays. I found today while he was at home so much harder as I was trying to keep Rory quiet and she chose today to scream every time I put her down! The three days he was at work we got into a lovely little routine and she was super chilled 😂

LRiddles · 15/04/2023 06:55

@BabyTalbot1 I bought this sling on Etsy for when my husband was going back to work because at the time our little one was sleeping on us a lot and I knew I wouldn’t get anything done otherwise 😅 it was only cheap compared to others but good quality and has honestly been one of the best things I’ve ever bought, our baby loves it!

Is anyones baby sleeping through the the night?

Our 1 month old just slept from 22:30-7

I woke up and she had dry bottom lip, slightly sunk fontanelles but otherwise she was stretching and smiling but took much longer to wake up than usual

Got really worried but she had her bottle and woke up and was alert as per usual

Normally she cries for bottle 1x night and I'm a very light sleeper so 100% know she just slept through

Should I be setting an alarm for middle of the night or start giving her bigger bottles before sleep?

@havananana I would think that as she was showing some signs of maybe being a bit dehydrated that setting an alarm wouldn't be the worst idea...so if she slept 8ish hours i think I'd maybe set an alarm for 6 hours after she falls asleep and see how she gets on with that, it might have been a one off anyway!

TeddyBeans · 17/04/2023 13:28

Izzy's 7 weeks tomorrow and still only does a max of 5 hours overnight. I'm firmly in the camp of they'll let you know if they're hungry so if she's not waking up for a feed, I'd leave her. It's likely to be a one off as dreaming says though but if she does sleep through more consistently then lucky you! 😁

Shep21 · 17/04/2023 13:40

@havananana Sounds like a dream! I’m normally fully in the camp of baby lets you know when they’re hungry. However, if you’re feeling concerned it won’t harm to maybe set an alarm and try a feed just in case. Baby will either take it or not be bothered so can’t see the harm.

Blocklynn · 18/04/2023 11:25

How is everyone doing?
Little Miss has decided she needs feeding every 2 hours today and isn’t shy about letting me know 🙉
I read there’s a 6 week growth spurt so might be that.
We have been out for a walk with the dogs which was nice, lovely sunshine here.

Suchardchoccy · 18/04/2023 11:59

@Blocklynn yes mine seems to be having a growthspurt too and she's 8 weeks today! I'm having to give her formula as well because she's so hungry

havananana · 18/04/2023 12:07

Thank you! I set an alarm for 6h mark but she woke up herself after 4.5h for her night bottle. Must have been a one off as she's only 4.5weeks and her average is 4.5-5h, and only has done this 8h and one other 6.5h stretch so far

havananana · 18/04/2023 12:07

For leaps I find the Wonder Weeks app very useful

havananana · 18/04/2023 17:51

C section mummies - when did your scar/insides/ back fully stopped hurting ?

Perexi · 18/04/2023 21:51

My stomach/scar has started hurting more the last few days so I've been put on antibiotics 🤦🏻‍♀️ I thought I was out of the woods at 5 weeks!

Last few days Archie is so much more alert and sleeping less and I think we're on the verge of a smile 😊😊

TeddyBeans · 19/04/2023 06:48

No input on the csection scar discussion but didn't want to derail it so mentioning it anyways!

Izzy's being a pickle during night feeds. She's got into the habit of only drinking 2oz when during the day she's drinking 5. It bothers me cuz she'd sleep loads better if she drank more during the night but she absolutely refuses after the 2oz 😫 means she's waking up after 3 hours and I'm only getting about 2 hours rest between bottles once nappy's changed and she's settled back in bed. Anyone else have similar?

Newmumma516789 · 19/04/2023 07:21

@Perexi what sort of pain was you having? I'm 5 weeks post c section tomorrow my stomach is still very swollen particularly above the c section line and feels quite bruised/tender inside. The outside has healed perfectly so assumed out of the woods too but maybe not. This is my 2nd section don't remember the first taking this long.

@TeddyBeans I'm in the 3hr camp here too despite how much little man drinks, I'm praying for 4hrs. Like you said by the time you feed, change and resettle I'm getting barely 2hrs sleep in between.

Franklin321 · 19/04/2023 07:39

I’m 7 weeks post and pretty much there no pain etc, however if I lift something particularly heavy or do a lot of walking then I do feel a twinge in my scar. I guess it’s all dependent on the individual and how well you recover/heal! This is my second section and I remember it took a good few months to feel relatively normal last time

Blocklynn · 19/04/2023 08:25

@TeddyBeans yep 3 hour camp here.
My problem is if she’s due a feed from 4.30am onwards.
It’s getting closer to when she’d get up for the day, so today I fed at 4.30, then by the time I had burped, changed and got her back to sleep it was about 5.40 and she wanted another feed at 6.20 🤦‍♀️

havananana · 19/04/2023 08:58

Thank you for the responses.

I get an ache on the right side inside after about 30min walking and there's still 2 little areas on my scar that have not fully closed

Midwife's checked me out and said there's no infection and that it's just still healing

Hopefully in the next few weeks will be better

Archie is in the 4oz during the day camp but only 1 or 2 during night feeds meaning feeds overnight are every 2 Hours at best lately he's full of cold so hoping that's the issue!

@Newmumma516789 my stomach was a bit swollen and although the scar looked ok some skin nearby was a bit pink and sneezing/getting out of bed was hurting more than it had been .

Rainbowbaby23 · 19/04/2023 10:36

Yep I feel like I’m constantly reliving the same 3 hours over and over😂 no matter how much Kyrie drinks he is wanting fed again 3 hours later, whether he previously drank 3oz or 6oz. I am absolutely exhausted!

Shep21 · 20/04/2023 08:56

The 2hr gaps in the night are a nightmare! Zara has for the most part stretched out to 3-4hrs between feeds. However, if she has a bad night it now really takes its toll!

BabyTalbot1 · 20/04/2023 20:16

@havananana I am nearly 4 weeks pp and feel like I have taken a step backward in my C-section recovery. The stitches/scar looks great but it is above it that hurts. The space between my belly button and the scar is swollen, painful and sore. I have started painkillers again. Admittedly, I think I have overdone it and caused myself discomfort. It didn't seem to register that I had a big operation, I was too busy focusing on DD.

Rainbowbaby23 · 21/04/2023 05:58

Baby keeps falling asleep mid feeds then waking up hungry again an hour later which is making it impossible for me to get any sleep

Blocklynn · 21/04/2023 08:28

@Rainbowbaby23 can you make baby uncomfortable so they wake up enough to carry on feeding? Like made them a bit cooler or Evie wakes up if I run my fingers down her sides.
