Wish my baby would sleep your lucky Lennox wakes every 2 hours through the night won't sleep in his bed during the day or night so he is on me 24-7. I just had him weighed he's 10.6lb at just over 4 weeks old! Sitting nicely on the 75th centile

TeddyBeans · 28/03/2023 12:38

@muminlndn fantastic news! Welcome to the club 😂

@havananana I was always told not to swap formulas as it can upset their tummy. Not sure what truth is in it as the industry is so tightly regulated but might be worth some research

I might be wrong but I'd be inclined to think gas problems are helped more with paced feeding/effective burping than the specific formula. We take a pause to burp every few minutes and make sure she's done a good one at the end. We're also using an extra slow flow teat on the mam bottles and so far so good after a week now, but that's probably baby specific - ours is still a little uncoordinated so it's necessary.

Baby has slept literally non stop today after having 2 days with shorter naps. Did anyone else find the same around the two week mark? Wondering if he’s in a growth spurt

TeddyBeans · 29/03/2023 03:22

@BabyLimey has he started eating more too? Eating and sleeping more are classic signs of a growth spurt! DD has been very sleepy and very hungry for a good week or so, she's 4 weeks now

OP posts:
BabyLimey · 29/03/2023 06:20

@TeddyBeans he actually fed a bit less yesterday but has been feeding consistently every 2.5 hours overnight, whereas usually he gives us at least one longer stretch! I am a tired mumma this morning

TeddyBeans · 29/03/2023 06:50

@BabyLimey oh bless you, it's hard when they change routine suddenly! DD did that the other day and it threw me completely. Hopefully it's just a blip and he goes back to normal today/tonight 🤞🤞

I'm so sad that baby Lennox is changing and growing so fast. I'm looking at his first picture and he looks totally different I wish he could stay small especially because this is our 1 and only baby.

Dreamingof3 · 29/03/2023 13:36

@Saltandpepperr I feel like this too, although she's my third! Last baby and I already feel like she's changed so much and it's going so fast 😭

Perexi · 29/03/2023 17:59

We registered the little man today and weighed him and he's finally started to put weight on 😍

Midwife asked about more babies and contraception which feels very soon 😂 although we have already said we would like another if it's possible in the future.

ChristmasJumpers · 29/03/2023 19:32

@Perexi we had the contraception talk from someone in theatre while I was literally being stitched up from the c section, such a bizarre experience!

Dreamingof3 · 29/03/2023 20:05

@ChristmasJumpers my consultant talked about sterilisation when I was 28 weeks 🤣

havananana · 29/03/2023 20:16

I was offered a specific brand coil in the pre-surgery consultation too 😂

Rainbowbaby23 · 29/03/2023 21:02

Weirdly noone has ever mentioned contraception to me😂

Jesus Christ 😂😂😂 seems a bit soon!

We both laughed in the appointment!

TeddyBeans · 30/03/2023 08:05

Speaking of birth control, I need to book an appointment to have an implant fitted. It's definitely my preferred method of contraception

OP posts:
GreenIsle · 30/03/2023 08:57

The midwife's during home visits spoke about contraception. This is my 3rd and final baby so need something more long term.

Was looking at the Mirena coil but I'm so afraid of it being painful. Will discuss with my Gp during my 8 week postpartum checkup appointment.

Have you had the implant before @TeddyBeans can you feel it in your arm when moving.

Dreamingof3 · 30/03/2023 09:30

@GreenIsle we're discussing my partner getting the snip! I've done enough now 😂 I hate being on hormonal contraceptives and I don't like the idea of the coil

GreenIsle · 30/03/2023 09:39

@Dreamingof3 that's a great idea for him to get to that done then you don't have the think about it again. I think my DH as lovely as he is would decline this.

I'm so sad this is our last one and even though I know it is I want to keep my options open, it's more that I could if I wanted to but choose not to. I know it doesn't make sense but it's the only way I can process not having anymore.

We're definitely done with 3 but I know what you mean, I couldn't quite bring myself to agree to being sterilised. A vasectomy has a lower fail rate anyway and could possibly be reversed down the road if we really wanted to!

TeddyBeans · 30/03/2023 16:57

@GreenIsle I've had 3 implants, 2 before I fell with DS and one after. You need to be able to feel them under the skin so you can track whether they're migrating or staying where they're supposed to be. My first one was implanted too deep and went into my arm muscle - it would tingle whenever I lifted my arms. It was a nightmare to cut out too when it needed replacing. I have quite a sizeable scar from it compared to the other ones. The other two were superficial like they're supposed to be and caused no trouble whatsoever!

Has anyone struggled with post natal anxiety? I've never struggled with anxiety before so I'm not sure if that's what this is or if it's just normal mum worries.

Baby girl has raspy breath sometimes, particularly at night or when on my shoulder for winding. It sounds really severe to me and has me worried that it's not normal. Health visitor and midwife have both reassured me that it's perfectly normal for newborns but it has me really teary at times as I worry that they're wrong and something could happen to her while we're sleeping. Sometimes it sounds like she has breathed in milk and it's in her throat but obviously she can't actively cough it up so I worry it'll go into her lungs. DH thinks I should speak to the GP about my worries as he feels reassured by the midwife/health visitor and it's really getting to me.

Looking up PNA though, I don't think I fit the bill. My GP has a track record of not really listening to what I'm explaining to him and I don't want him to just throw anti-depressants at me if I don't need them

BabyTalbot1 · 31/03/2023 08:25

@ChristmasJumpers I will join you with the Mum anxiety. Mine is to do with co-sleeping. DH brings DD into bed after the cluster feeding settles down so I can sleep. My anxiety goes through the roof. DH can function on little sleep, he always has, and never falls asleep when baby is in his arms at night.....but I fear something might happen!

Day 5 postpartum and my hormones have kicked in 😣 I am a FTM and I keep second-guessing myself. DH asks questions about BF as he fed his son with formula, I questioned if I chose right with BF!?! DH asked about cluster feeding as he hasn't experienced it before, I questioned if I am feeding her right!?! I don't know if I am coming or going, or doing right from wrong.

GreenIsle · 31/03/2023 08:42

@ChristmasJumpers my last two baby's both sounded like this. I just made sure to keep them upright as much as possible and extra winding at nighttime. Sometimes I can hear her almost gurgling with the milk or fluid but it could be mucus also. I was told this is normal also. It went from my middle child at around the 5/6 week mark although he still breathed heavy. I guess it was just him.

If you continue to be worried speak to Gp just for a checkup to reassure you,

When did you guys start tummy time and how often and long?

Did you roll up a towel or use a feeding pillow type support?
