Recently had an unsolicited comment about my DS' 'tiny feet' 🤦🏻‍♀️ He is small in general but don't think his feet are tiny or out of proportion. He's a U.K. 8 and is 3.5 y/o.

My DD is 3y4mos and wears an 8. What makes that person an expert on children's foot sizes? Commenting on people's bodies is not ok.

AnneLovesGilbert · 15/01/2023 17:02

DD is 4 in March and a 9.

Moonshine160 · 15/01/2023 17:03

DS is 3 years 9 months. Shoe size is 9.5 but his feet are so narrow so we struggle to get any to fit him properly.

Ignore the comments.

DS just turned 4 and he's a 10.5. He's a big boy in general, though. He wears 6-7 clothes.

RobinRobinMouse · 15/01/2023 17:04

I wouldn't say that was especially small, dd was about a 6 at that age, she's now nearly 5 and is size 8.5/9 depending on the shop. She is fairly small, but perfectly healthy, children just grow at different rates.

JJJSchmidt · 15/01/2023 17:05

Age 3 years and 1 month and she is a size 4, so she would deserve amd often gets comments about her tiny feet!! Only child i know to wear out her shoes!!

eurochick · 15/01/2023 17:05

I can't remember the size now as it was a few years ago but my daughter had tiny feet and we struggled to get her first school shoes as her feet were too small for anything suitable.

thatshowirolllandchips · 15/01/2023 17:11

Was it tiny in a sort of "aw tiny kids feet" in comparison to big teenagers feet or something? My daughter is 3y4m and a size 6. She is indeed tiny. I wouldn't be offended with someone saying that cos it's true!

saltedpretzel2 · 15/01/2023 17:13

My DD is 8 and wearing uk size 9 so that doesn't sound small to me. She is tiny though!

hellosunshineagainxxx · 15/01/2023 17:14

Went into size 10 at 3.5 but he is 99th percentile for height and 90th for weight atm

Quordle · 15/01/2023 17:14

My child was in 8s last year at pre-school and is still only about an 8.5 now I'm Reception. They are bang on the 50th percentile for weight and height. I was gobsmacked last year when a slightly younger child's feet were 11.5s! I work in a school and that is more typical for Y2 (I know because we spend a lot of time sorting out footwear for children who don't bring wellies...). But children come in all shapes and sizes, don't they.

Adelais · 15/01/2023 17:18

Dd is nearly 3 and a size 8. Her dad and big sisters feet are massive so I think she’ll take after him.

BabyFour2023 · 15/01/2023 17:18

DS2 is the same age and same shoe size and I’ve had the same comments. DS1 is 5 and a shoe size 9. DD is 9 and shoe size 13.

Beees · 15/01/2023 17:21

Goodness me in that case my DS has tiny tiny feet he's 3yr 1 month and has size 4.5/5 feet depending on the shoe!

totallybonafido · 15/01/2023 17:22

DS is 4 in a month, measured at 8.5 yesterday.

WelshNerd · 15/01/2023 17:24

Just turned 3, size 8.

Surely they meant the tiny feet comment in relation to adult feet, not other children? Little shoes for kids are cute.

doadeer · 15/01/2023 17:26

My son is four in a few weeks he is a 13 but very tall

geraniumthefourth · 15/01/2023 17:27

Dd is 5 and has tiny feet, size 8!

doadeer · 15/01/2023 17:27

I think my son's first pair of shoes were a 5 at 1!

Tryingtryingandtrying · 15/01/2023 17:29

My daughter started school as a 7. So would have been 6 as a preschooler

Nome11 · 15/01/2023 17:30

My 6 year old (7 in early May) is a size 10, same as his 4 year old brother.

GAW19 · 15/01/2023 17:30

DD1 is 3.5yo and a size 8
DD2 is 2 in March and has size 6 feet

stormelf · 15/01/2023 17:42

DS turned 3 end of December and is a size 6. DD is 5yrs2mths and only just a size 8. Youngest DD turned 1 at beginning of December and isn't big enough for size 2 yet so hoping she doesn't start walking yet

B1993 · 15/01/2023 17:56

For those who asked, the comment was from
another parent in relation to their own child's foot size who is a couple months younger. 🙄

Looking at the comments, it seems like a normal size for 3.5 year old (although all children are different, of course, so there's a big range). I won't think anymore about it!

Mine is 4.5 and only wears a size 8! I don't think yours is small.
