Giving 7 month old pizza for tea

Tea time is approaching and dc1 has been asking for pizza. With solids for dc2 we’re pretty much giving him what we have as finger food and he’s doing really well. But pizza, is that ok?

for the record it’s not a takeaway pizza, will be shop bought pizza base with homemade sauce and toppings, probably no meat as we don’t have any in.

Why wouldn't it be? It's just bread with veg and cheese on.

houseargh · 16/07/2022 17:20

I mean, it's probably saltier than ideal but the important thing is the quantity of salt over time so as long as it's not every meal, I don't see why not!

Beees · 16/07/2022 17:21

Pizza is cheesey bread with toppings on it. Why on earth wouldn't it be an appropriate choice of food? If you'd feed her cheese on toast it's not really much different.

Guess the salt? And the fact it’s not homemade quinoa and asparagus bars or some other Instagram delight

Another vote for 'it's just cheese on toast'.

Riddlemethisplz · 16/07/2022 17:24

Just wasn’t sure if it was too balanced or easy enough to eat, buy pizza ahoy for tonight then! I’m obviously being too hard on myself

You really are. It's just cheesy bread, to be honest by this age I'd just be impressed their sibling hadn't fed them a chip or some chocolate yet.

AegonT · 16/07/2022 17:52

It's fine as long as it isn't given too regularly. The bread and cheese is high in salt but at that age they don't usually eat too much of it anyway. We gave pizza occasionally from 6 months with both of ours.

AegonT · 16/07/2022 17:53

We cut it into long thin strips.

KarrotKake · 16/07/2022 17:57

Would you give thema cheese sandwich??? Pretty similar.
Throw in some sticks of cucumber if you want to pretend it's balanced!

KurriKawari · 16/07/2022 18:01

Put some pineapple on it.

I probably wouldn’t do a sandwich until 1 might do a wrap pinwheel though, which is in essence the exact same thing, I’m aware I’m ridiculous lol.

i did some steamed carrot sticks and boiled eggs on the side. Bizarre combo but was eaten

My 9 month old loves pizza, I do 2 ingredient flatbread (just equal parts yoghurt and self raising flour) as a pizza base.

DuarPorte · 16/07/2022 19:13

What: bread with cheese tomatoes and vegetables?

yes.

Heroicallyl0st · 16/07/2022 19:15

At 7 months old they’re hardly going to swallow much. Sounds fine to me anyway!

bellac11 · 16/07/2022 19:16

Most people consider bread and cheese, in whatever combination to be perfect finger food.

CrappyNHappy · 16/07/2022 21:15

Home made pizza sounds like a great idea. Just don't add salt to the sauce (and no whole olives or other chokable toppings but I'm sure you know already that.)

If you are worried about the salt content then just give them the toppings..slices of mushrooms and mozzarella make great finger foods.

DogsAndGin · 16/07/2022 21:26

I don’t think it’s appropriate for a baby

Mrsmch123 · 16/07/2022 22:02

My one year old joins on pizza night at our house and has done since 6months old🤷🏻‍♀️Sometimes it's homemade sometimes it frozen and sometimes it's a takeaway🤷🏻‍♀️

Mrsmch123 · 16/07/2022 22:03

@DogsAndGin how come?

Lovebeingamummy2 · 16/07/2022 22:09

I don't think pizza is ok for babies either @DogsAndGin

Genuine question but why? It's just food.

Flittingaboutagain · 16/07/2022 22:13

It's literally processed junk food. No way.

bellac11 · 16/07/2022 22:21

Im surprised people have such a downer on bread, since when did it become poisonous to give 7 month olds toast or squares of bread?

I wasn’t exactly talking dominos, I meant if It’s it’s a shop bought base, home made sauce, mozzarella and herbs with some chargrilled with from yesterdays dinner?
