I've been gradually weaning Dex off the boob. I now breastfeed him morning and night but formula during the day. I'm really going to miss it when he stops seeing as he's my last baby but it makes the days so much easier if I need to leave him. Every so often I'll offer a boob if I just think he needs a bit of a top up or some comfort but mostly he's bottle fed through the day now. I don't know how long my supply will last like this but it's working for us at the moment! I breastfed my other two fully until 4 months then my supply ran out by 6 months. I'm hoping it will last a bit longer this time and so far so good... He is also loving his food which helps!

jadey1991 · 15/06/2022 19:56

@2020mission it was bloody traumatic... I hated it🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️I'm planning on the bottle feeds.(formula) and food.

2020mission - OMG! I laughed so hard after I read your post my sentiments exactly I think I lasted about three days & thought I’m so done with this shit - break open the formula! Please I don’t mean to offend any other Moms it just wasn’t for me . Besides it also has its advantages ‘a glass of red with dinner and a bottle of milk’ the perfect pairing! 🤷🏼👍🏻

Sorry to hear about your loss @Theawkwardblonde hope you are doing ok.
It is me whose little one is Seth but I have also referred to him as S on here too so that’s probably where the confusion came from.

No breastfeeding here, we went onto formula after around 5 days as he wasn’t latching well at all and I had an infection post section meaning I was really struggling with pain so it was just better for all of us to stop.

Seth is currently waking in the night ‘chatting’ to himself for about 1-2 hours every night. It’s great he’s not crying but god it’s exhausting. I think it might be nearly time to try him in his own room.

We went on our first family holiday last week, he’s not keen on the sea but had a great time overall. Anyone else got any holidays planned?

I know, I love seeing him grow and develop but also wish time would just slow down a bit.

We went to Dorset :)

@Decadesbcun aww that's nice Seth looked like he enjoyed himself.. I hope you all had a lovely time

@burtle4 yes I am finding them quite accurate. We are in the middle of leap 5 at the minute and he is doing about 90% of the things it says and has also picked up some of the skills.

@jadey1991 wonder weeks and leaps are development leaps that are based according to their due date rather than birth date and tell you when they are going through a development leap and what skills they may learn in that leap and what the signs are. I’ve found it quite accurate but only found it from leap 4 so not been following it long.
it was a great holiday, we had great weather all week, honestly could have been abroad with how nice it was.

we are starting weaning properly today. A bit nervous and overwhelmed with it all. Any tips?

lovebeingmum9 · 20/06/2022 10:18

Hi all happy fathers day for yesterday hope you all had a lovely weekend 😊

@Theawkwardblonde I'm so sorry... I havnt been on recently so sending you a virtual hug 💐

Our household has been hit with illness again! sickness bugs are relentless and keep doing the rounds....so a chilled day at home for fathers day did us all good but obviously not what we had planned! Oscar is 6 months old 🎉
a bit unsettled at the moment think more teething....and rolling in the cot at night! keep trying to wedge him in place but he finds a way.....his thighs are super chunky lol and he's eating 3 times a day now aswell as bottle EVERY 3 hours so he's a strong boy! I'm exhausted but they only stay little for a short while so I'm enjoying every moment 😌
@JW2021 aw love his bib and gorgeous smile!
@Decadesbcun aw hope you had a lovely time, what did seth think of 1st time at the beach!? Good luck with weaning my top tips would be powder porridge at 1st as can add warm water and nice and creamy (but beware they get used to it and can be costly) plastic back bibs and tommee tippee plastic spoons are good 😊 let us know how you get on.....Oscars favourites are porridge in morning, apple and pear sachet lunch, carrot puree for dinner followed by a petit felou yoghurt! he leaves nothing behind lol and worth saying he has a smaller bottle after a feed normally only 60 or 90ml x

jadey1991 · 20/06/2022 10:45

@Decadesbcun oh ok hun thanks for the info... aww I'm glad u all enjoyed... as for weaning started of with dinner. Then the next day I did breakfast and dinner( did this for about a week) then I added the lunch in.. I just take it as it comes. I noticed that when Josiah was full he would spit his food out.. but not all babies are the same Seth could be different...

jadey1991 · 20/06/2022 10:47

@lovebeingmum9 aww bless you all I do hope u all get better soon. Yes the sickness bug is doing it's rounds. Josiah had it a week ago now he is better.

OP posts:
jadey1991 · 20/06/2022 10:51

@Decadesbcun agreed with @lovebeingmum9 the porridge can be pricey. I brought a tinned one for Josiah and that was £2.50 in sainsburys. It has lasted me over a week now. Defo tommee tippee spoons. I got the ones there are rubbery.
Josiah favourite breakfast is banana porridge, lunch he likes anything and same with dinner( I tried him on sweet potatoes sachet) dessert is now and then because but again he will eat anything...

@lovebeingmum9 are we able to give petit felou yogurts? I've been so tempted to buy them for him but don't pick them up

Curlymam88 · 20/06/2022 12:57

Hi everyone hope you all had a good father's day and your OHs had a great day.
Hope you all get better soon @lovebeingmum9
I find weaning so stressful tbh. Do I give bottle first then food about half hour or so later? Sometimes leola naps after half hour of a bottle. I've found myself heating food up for her and shes just grizzling in her chair to nap. Just can't seem to time it all right at the moment.
@jadey1991 I think yoghurts can be given from 6 months onwards, although I heard Petit filous have quite a bit of sugar in them? I think munch bunch and the Ella's kitchen yoghurt pouches have less sugar.
I've given Leola a bit of a trim. Her hair was getting so long. And is turning very blonde all of a sudden. Here she is in yellow after her trim 😄 and a few other funny photos of her.

Also, if I do it nap, little play then food before bottle shes often grizzling towards the end of her solid food because she wants a bottle. Also, my monster likes to chew her bib st meal times and make an absolute mess so I've figured distraction is helpful. I put cocomelon on my phone to distract her from being mischievous.
I also think cool boiled water helps soften their poos when eating solids.

Curlymam88 · 20/06/2022 13:46

Also something funny that happened to me on weekend....I went to tesco to grab some bits. Looking at the food on the shelf, pushing the trolley back and forth to keep the baby settled while i shop, to only turn to glance at the baby in the trolley to have forgotten that I had gone to tesco by myself...no baby in trolley! (Baby was at home with her dad) first time I've been shopping by myself since baby was born, to probably have people wondering what the heck I was doing pushing my food back and forth on the spot. 😂made me laugh anyway!

jadey1991 · 20/06/2022 13:48

@Curlymam88 oh I see I might have a look at them then thanks hun.... omg look at leola.... isn't she cute.... oh my yes her hair has changed colour.... I blame the sun lol.... To be fair your not the only person that finds it stressful. I do to... I give Josiah food but then he is hungry like 5 min after and i still breastfeed. I usually have to distract him after he has had food for about 1 hour then I give him some breast.... but im getting so annoyed with breastfeeding ( sounds selfish I know sorry). I just want to be able to leave Josiah with his dad and go out out for a few hours. But the last time I did that Josiah was crying the whole time. All I did was go play bingo 🤦🏽‍♀️

OP posts:
jadey1991 · 20/06/2022 13:49

@Curlymam88 yes I agree coco melon and warm water does the trick.

OP posts:
jadey1991 · 20/06/2022 13:50

@Curlymam88 oh no, 🤣🤣bless u... it's the motherly instinct....I do that with the bouncer at times. I'm bouncing it only to look up and see Josiah isn't actually in there haha

OP posts:
Curlymam88 · 20/06/2022 14:07

@jadey1991 not selfish at all you do what's right for you. You need to look after yourself aswell as josiah.
Oh I mean cooled boiled water. I boil the water then put it in the fridge for when she's ready. I think you need to boil the water first to make it sterile is it?
🤣 same, I've been rocking her next2me when she's not been in it. Just habit now aint it

jadey1991 · 20/06/2022 14:08

Here is Josiah today. We went to see my dad/his grandad at work

@Curlymam88 thanks hun. I just feel so drained breastfeeding... yeah that's right hun boil the water and leave to cool.. I'll never use tap water. I don't even drink from the tap.. 🤮

OP posts:
Curlymam88 · 20/06/2022 14:28

@jadey1991 looks like he's enjoying the sun. Love his little camouflage trousers 😁
Nor me, I made the mistake of googling where the toilet water goes after its flushed and the whole cycle of where it goes and comes back to you put me off. Weve got a zero filter jug which is supposed to clean tap water which puts my mind at ease a bit

jadey1991 · 20/06/2022 14:37

@Curlymam88 thanks hun. Oh yeah that's what put me off🤦🏽‍♀️... oh that's good.at least you know it's clean water
