I'm starting A200 which is History from 1400 - 1900. I know that Rosa did this one last year so I'm hoping to be seeing lots of her this year

What's everyone else doing?

Girl after my own heart Agnes!!

agnesnitt · 20/01/2008 22:46

Indeed... Which begs the question: Why the hell are we signing up to a monster load of work when we already have children depriving us of sleep and 'pretty-petting' time?

Mmmm. Suppose I do need to get around to opening that parcel marked "Urgent - educational material" which arrived in December...

Urgent. LOL!

Agnes- "sucker for punishment " springs to mind!!!

agnesnitt · 21/01/2008 13:45

TM, you have an ability to resist parcels? I am impressed! Have a virtual cookie on me

bb, you may have a damned fine point there

Agnes

SeaShells · 21/01/2008 16:11

TM wow, how could you resist opening the parcel for so long!
My A217 course materials came today, the delivery man had barely let go of it before I ripped it open

Already started reading the Introduction book, the first TMA seems so soon!

Chopster · 21/01/2008 18:42

well I've written my first tma so looking good so far, then I went to check for tutorials.

They are in Oxford! That's 40 miles from here. Conveniently, that is where the tutor lives. This is my 7th OU course, and I've never had to travel this far. I prob won't be going, what with petrol costs and the fact it will take up a whole day.

Anyone else noticed that OU really seems to be cutting costs? The teaching pack this year is really shite compared to usual. All the nicely printed binders and everything are out the window, it looks like it's come from poundland this time.

TellusMater · 21/01/2008 18:44

I have a gift for burying my head in the sand until just before the first TMA is due. This is my fifth course. I'm an old hand at it now you know...

agnesnitt · 21/01/2008 19:36

My tutorials are in Leeds, which is a definite no go as it's a train ride away. Quite unimpressed, but such is life

Agnes

yetanothername · 22/01/2008 08:20

My tutorials have always been in Nottingham, apart from the English Lit. course I quit, which were actually here in Lincoln!

I have never made it to any of the Nottingham ones as it's a 40min bus ride, 1 hour train ride, then another shortish bus ride. Don't seem worth the cost, time and getting up incredibly early for!

None of my tutors have actually lived in Nottingham.

bossybritches · 22/01/2008 10:01

ooooh Yeta -are you in Lincoln ? So am I!!

Haven't sorted my box out yet so don't know where my tutorials are.

yetanothername · 22/01/2008 15:31

bossybritches - yep I'm in Lincoln!! No-one is ever in Lincoln! I'm in the south of the city. I'm a Yorkshire lass tho

RosaLuxOnTheBrightSideOfLife · 22/01/2008 15:36

My tutorials are in Bristol. I live in North Devon. For those of you not familiar with the south-west, that is two hours away. I can't go.

agnesnitt · 22/01/2008 18:51

Lincoln's ower't'bridge and a wee ride from me

Got to love being a Yorkshire lass

Hi...starting my 3rd short course in Feb A177 - Intro. to Shakespeare. Would ideally like to get a degree at the end of the day, but it seems a long way off!!!

agnesnitt · 22/01/2008 19:48

I'm doing A177 too

Agnes

bossybritches · 22/01/2008 21:07

God that sounds good-Intro to Shakespeare, maybe I could do that "for fun" after I get my Early Years degree....in about 2014!!!

Yeta I'm south of the city too! Are your tutorials in BG? Maybe we could meet up in the Students union for a drink coffee as we qualify for a card????!!

PMSL @ the thought of me in the SU!!!

Agnes maybe you could hop over t'bridge one day??!!

yetanothername · 23/01/2008 06:28

I put a thread on the A217 cafe! Say hello! Or just come and see my real name

bossy - My tutorials are in Nottingham but I won't be going!

becaroo · 23/01/2008 11:12

See you on the A177 board Agnes

bossybritches · 23/01/2008 14:57

Wherefore art these boards & cafes of which you speak??

Stargazer · 23/01/2008 15:01

I'm in my last year of the molecular science degree and am doing SXM390 (a project course), S342 and SXR342 this year - it's going to be a very busy year. But it looks really good. And like many others on here, I'm trying to get a reasonable headstart so that I've got some time when half-terms and the summer hols arrive. Good luck to all.

yetanothername · 23/01/2008 17:14

bossybritches - in your student home if you click on First Class Desktop you'll get to a page with choices on of forums/whatever (this is the first time I've actually used them!) click on your course number and there will be a the choice of a course discussion board and a cafe board.

bossybritches · 23/01/2008 17:32

oo-er OK I'll try & find you!!

agrippina · 25/01/2008 16:14
