Thoughts?
Personally, I don't like it and prefer Jane. A good, solid name with substance. Or am I being boring?

My cousins name is spelt Jayne. Don't see a problem either that. I wouldn't be adding a H in there though

I always have to spell my name as its more usually spelt with a C and mine is a K

It's never been the ballache people on mn make it out to be

Marmite27 · 09/04/2022 13:53

She sounds like she’s a member of the black dagger brotherhood.

Luredbyapomegranate · 09/04/2022 13:57

@FromOurHatsToOurFeet

There's a girl at in my DC's school who will forever be known as Isabella Withawhy as in reception she was in a class with Isabella A, Isabella B, Isabella C, Isabella D - and she's an Ysabella. Don't make a Jane Withanhaitch-andawhy.
Quite

Unique spellings are stupid, and this one is peak.

Jayne is established but naff. Jane is fine, will be due a come back shortly so you can be at the vanguard

I think Ysabella is a valid spelling from a different country.
SpinningTheSeedsOfLove · 09/04/2022 14:00

Jane is a lovely name.

Soubriquet · 09/04/2022 14:01

My middle name is Jayne.

Adding the h is just stupid though

beattieedny · 09/04/2022 14:02

Jane is far better. Weird spellings are a total pain.

FourChimneys · 09/04/2022 14:07

I love the name Jane. That's enough letters though, any extras are superfluous.

Names from my class in the 60s are due a comeback. Jane, Clare, Amanda, Sally, Nicola, Mary. All are lovely but rarely used now.

liveforsummer · 09/04/2022 14:08

I'd assume Ysabella was from a country where they have a different alphabet or pronounced their letters differently. Jhayne is just ridiculous though to the point I'm not sure if it's a joke

MolkosTeenageAngst · 09/04/2022 14:09

No way.

If you must spell it differently then Jayne is at least a recognised variation.

Sweepingeyelashes · 09/04/2022 14:17

I have had a lifetime of spelling my name. It's always misheard and misspelt and it's only got 4 letters! (It's a real name but old-fashioned and people aren't sure how to spell it.) To top it all off, lots of people just seeing my name assume I am a man. Go with Jane.

Dancer47 · 09/04/2022 14:20

The name is "Jane". Any convoluted spellings are redundant and pretentious.

GeorgiaGirl52 · 09/04/2022 14:20

Jane - sweet and simple to spell and pronounce

shinynewapple22 · 09/04/2022 14:23

I think Jayne is a prettier name than Jane.

Is the spelling with the h a cultural thing ?

DropYourSword · 09/04/2022 14:24

My first thought too!!

Even V mated just a Jane

Marmite27 · 09/04/2022 14:27

@DropYourSword

I’m doing a re read and I’ve just finished V’s book. I Started Phury’s this morning, which is my least favourite (appart from the Qhinn but).

MatildaJayne · 09/04/2022 14:40

Prefer Jane. I’m only MatildaJayne because MatildaJane was already taken, (but not used recently.) No need for the superfluous h.

DarkShade · 09/04/2022 14:47

Why would you misspell her name on purpose?

CrazyTimes123 · 09/04/2022 14:47

Never seen this before, but I had a cat called Shayne so I guess it’s similar to that Grin

ManyATime · 09/04/2022 14:53

Expletives fail me! It’s horrible!

ClinkeyMonkey · 09/04/2022 14:58

Why make something simple so complicated? Jane is lovely.

Antarcticant · 09/04/2022 15:00

Is it a spelling from a particular language or country? If it's simply a variant I prefer either of the more standard spellings without an H.

BasiliskStare · 09/04/2022 15:05

I think Jane is a really nice name - but then I like John so what do I know. I think they are classic and nice names and give themselves to nickname / affectionate names, I would go with the classic Jane. But not my child.

Namechangenumber23 · 09/04/2022 15:20

@GeorgiaMcGraw

I prefer Janye. As in Janye West.
@GeorgiaMcGraw I just proper bellowed a laugh at that, thank you Grin
BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 09/04/2022 15:27

Jayne is a legitimate spelling

Adding the H is not, unless I am unaware of this as a name from another culture/country/language. If this is the case, apologies.
