Making effort with dd1 who was 2 last week. She has been showing signs of being ready since she was 17mths. So today we have been bare bottomed and managed 10 wees on potty, 7 elsewhere..about 4 of which were just dribbles.. we also had one pooh half on floor and half on potty...not too bad for first day I think.

Good Luck ladies

I tried putting ds on the toilet this afternoon as he is doing so well on the potty, he has been going off on his own and weeing in the potty then telling me he has done one He didn't like the idea of the big loo though, started crying, so for now I will leave him with the potty.

Nemostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 29/12/2007 22:13

aww mrs fish have you tried one of those insert things?? DD1 loves big toilet but mainly because she wants to brush her teeth at the same time

Did I mention tonight she ate her tea on the potty

OP posts:
MrsFish · 29/12/2007 22:18

I've got a padded insert seat with handles on the side but he just didn't want to know, even though I tried reassuring him that I would hold him I don't want to put him off at this stage as he is doing so well and we are only 6 days in. I'm going to wait till I next see my friends dd's and let him see them on the big toilet, I think he will do it then

Nemostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 29/12/2007 22:27

yes would wait but if you wanted to look at mothercare wooden toilet seat. We have one and it has a little sit in the lid so perfect for adults and toddlers..ds and dd1 both love their 'special seat'

Hows it going everone? ds is doing so well and I am soo proud of him after all our other failed attempts he clearly wasnt ready. He's now using the potty and toilet on his own without any encouragement. (although he's probably eaten his own body weight in chocolate coins)

If anyone is looking for cheap products the mothercare sale have one of those padded seats for the toilet for £6.49 here

plus they have steps too in the sale [http://www.mothercare.com/gp/product/B000IVQPSW/sr=1-2/qid=1199016709/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&m=A2LBKNDJ 2KZUGQ&n=42858041&mcb=core here]]

mosschops30 · 30/12/2007 12:13

oops didnt work

moljam · 30/12/2007 20:15

well today wasnt too good.first day properly though.ds managed one wee on the tiolet and about a hundred on the floor.im giving him choice of tiolet or potty-he seems to prefer tiolet but its upstairs so had potty handy too.he kept weeing in his pants and i managed to get last trickle in potty.we went through loads of pants.what should i do?try few more days or give up now?

he does like washing hands though

Nemostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 30/12/2007 21:15

hi all
DD1 hasnt done too badly today..2 wees on floor, one poo in knickers which was when she was int he garden..then left her bare bottomed when she came in and voila no more accidents. Am going to leave her half naked again tommorow and then see where we are up to.

Moljam how does he do bare bottomed? DD1 seems to get very confused with knickers on and thinks its a nappy.

Mosschops well done to ds he is onviously very ready.

OP posts:
moljam · 30/12/2007 21:20

i think he may think its a nappy especially as we mainly use cloth.i may try completly nothing on bum tomorrow-im stlightly worried as hes cows milk intolerant and were still learning whats in what so still have runny bum days.but im fairly sure hes had nothing and i suppose if he does get runny bum i'll stick pants or nappy on.
do any of you used training paints-type that hold a bit? or just normal pants?also jumping ahead of myself but anyone use a travel potty,if so which type?disposable bit or flush away?

Nemostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 30/12/2007 21:25

we also use cloth which I think is why dd doesnt really care if the nappy is a little damp. I have bought knickers but do have a pack of unopened trainer pants..to be honest they dont actually help keep anything in any better..suppose if you wanted some absorbancy then stick a booster pad in from the nappies?

OP posts:
moljam · 30/12/2007 21:28

your so clever!never thought of that!!!im going to see how tomorrow goes and take it day at a time i think.

Nemostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 30/12/2007 22:34

thats all you can do..take it a day at a time and hope for improvement..lol

OP posts:
mosschops30 · 30/12/2007 22:36

dont give up moljam, if your LO is making it to the potty then thats a good sign even if they miss, it shoes they know what theyre supposed to be doing.
Not sure about the pull-ups was always told it just encourages the nappy thing even more.
Ds was in normal nappies so he knows the difference but maybe you could do what nemo suggested and do bare bottomed tomorrow

Good luck

moljam · 30/12/2007 22:39

mosschops30 thanks!i dont mean those nappy pants i mean training pants.will find link!

moljam · 30/12/2007 22:42

these at top 'bright bots'

moljam · 31/12/2007 13:06

ds did rabbit dropping in potty this morning!i was bit bad and didnt put him straight on potty when got up as had been up till 2am with urine infection so last thing on my mind was asking ds to wee!!!hes had 1 wee accident on floor,1 in tiolet and big poo in naptime nappy.i feel bad but am enjoying him nappy as i can stop saying do you nee a wee every 5 minutes while hes napping!

Nemostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 31/12/2007 13:27

moljam not bad thats normal, have felt like that with dd1 and rememeber being like that with ds.

Today is a good day in the nemo household..not a single accident as yet and dd1 running for the potty to wee and poop when she felt the need. I have stopped prompting her as she just gets cross. So if we stay this good then tomorrow I will introduce knickers again.

ScoutFinch · 31/12/2007 16:19

How do I get my ds to let it go? He holds it all day if necessary even tho we have the whole reward thing going. He know when it's happening as he tells me but by then it's too late. If I see him grabbing himself and crossing his legs I put him on but he then holds it.

He said to me today that he didn't want to wee on the potty as it would hurt.

Any suggestions, how I can explain to him how to let it go?

Nemostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 31/12/2007 21:32

is it both that he says hurts or just one? Just thinking because when ds was potty training he was prone to ballinitis.

OP posts:
moljam · 31/12/2007 21:37

i was naughty,we had friends over and ds really didnt want to go on potty or loo and was screaming so i put nappy on him.im tempted to go back to nappy and just sit him on every now and then but i realise thats probably dumb idea.
