Fucking fireworks

Basically every other house around us seems to be setting off extremely loud fireworks tonight - just as my baby is going (or rather trying to go) to sleep. My pets are also terrified. I wish the sodding things would be banned for private displays - it’s so annoying and antisocial Angry

This too shall pass Smile

Soon your child will be old enough to enjoy them Wink

Yes, totally agree. Organised displays are acceptable but I don't think people should be letting them off as they please.

We live in a neighbourhood of dog owners who spend the year leaving dog poo all over the streets and parks. Come bonfire night and new year's eve, and they're all frothing all over Facebook about how antisocial people are...

We could do with a ban on fireworks AND pet dogs tbh. But yes, settling kids to sleep is a problem too - you have my sympathies.

fedupwithfireworks · 05/11/2021 20:16

And newsflash to anyone doing this - your home displays are utter shite anyway. Why not leave it to the professionals and give us parents and pet owners a break?

Toddler rolling round the cot shouting ‘baaa’ ‘baaa’ and giggling.

Gonna be a loooong night Grin you have my sympathy!

TeresaGreener · 05/11/2021 20:17

I wouldn't want to see fireworks banned completely but seriously, what justification is there for the insanely loud mortars? What sort of decent human being could think that they are okay? 😢

@PesosBandage fair enough - anyone who doesn’t pick up after their dog is also an antisocial menace, 100%!

Me neither, but they should be confined to organised displays only.

Also in full agreement. My cat is petrified. Plus countless other pets no doubt, the elderly and ex forces with PTSD. Yes, they are lovely to look at, but I just don’t ‘get’ what the loud bangs etc add to the experience. And it’s not just one night, it’s usually 2/3 nights either side. Why not restrict sales to those of ‘silent’ fireworks only?

WildFlowerBees · 05/11/2021 20:21

We've got Classic FM on and our normally terrified cats are sleeping quite happily for the first time ever.

Thanks, I will try that.

Also agree with the PP who said the noise adds nowt.

Try classic fm. It may help settle your pets if not your baby. I hope you're all asleep soon.

Yeah I'm with you on this. My 7 month old is being woken every couple of minutes and poor cat is hiding in the laundry bin

Oh yes, it’s DEFINITELY the same people 🙄

Dog hater alert for the pwecious pwincesses.

PesosBandage · 05/11/2021 20:45

@dresstokillmytime pick up your dog poo, and I'll piss off :)

Bladerunners · 05/11/2021 20:45

Is it okay for people suffering from PTSD? Because a bit of classic FM will not solve it.

PesosBandage · 05/11/2021 20:46

@Bladerunners close. Dog owner hater.

I do and so do most dog owners. Yes some don't but that doesn't give you the excuse to be an arsehole.

Bladerunners · 05/11/2021 20:48

It’s like saying that most humans are murderers but they seem a bit thick.

dresstokillmytime · 05/11/2021 20:49

How about we ban kids while we're at it eh. They're always in the way, screaming all the time and their parents think it's ok to drop their crap everywhere and inflict them on the rest of us. They're also terrible for the environment. Worse than SUVs I reckon. 👍

Bladerunners · 05/11/2021 20:51

Imagine not caring about animals having heart attacks and dying because once you saw a bit of dog poo five weeks ago?
