Fucking fireworks

Basically every other house around us seems to be setting off extremely loud fireworks tonight - just as my baby is going (or rather trying to go) to sleep. My pets are also terrified. I wish the sodding things would be banned for private displays - it’s so annoying and antisocial Angry

@Bladerunners most humans seem a bit thick? ;)

Nah, sorry, I'm being mean there, because I can actually decipher your sentence.

No, I don't hate all dog owners. I'm just so sick of the inconsiderate ones, especially when they then make the fuss that's happening on facebook tonight. It's entirely double standards.

Anyway, I'm actually with you all. Fireworks should be banned. For many many reasons.

PesosBandage · 05/11/2021 20:52

Yikes!

PesosBandage · 05/11/2021 20:53

I don't remember saying anywhere that I was happy about animals having heart attacks! I said the double standards of "you're so inconsiderate" irked me.

Scary dog owner alert ;)

Weirdo animal hater alert
Bladerunners · 05/11/2021 20:55

Pretty sick of inconsiderate parents, ergo.., or no wait.

PesosBandage · 05/11/2021 20:55

Sigh. Pissing off now. Thanks for reading my posts. Oh, wait...

TheatricalGiraffe · 05/11/2021 20:55

The public display got cancelled in my area so...no other choice but to go private.. (well..it's private or nothing)

Starting to get on my nerves a bit after three hours of constant fireworks though

Bladerunners · 05/11/2021 20:55

Bye!

Welshiefluff · 05/11/2021 20:59

Yes it is annoying when our kids wake up as a result but we made the decision to have kids. Other people make all sorts of decisions and tonight some have decided to set off fireworks. As long as they stop at a reasonable hour then fine.

However those who set them off at midnight on new years eve can fuck off!

Sittinginthesand · 05/11/2021 20:59

I love fireworks, our village display was great fun. A community get-together outside, kids having fun, grown-ups chatting, money being raised for charity. In a year or two your baby will be a child gazing up at the fireworks like they are magic (if you let them) I enjoyed watching the little ones’ faces so much tonight, absolute wonder.

ThePoisonousMushroom · 05/11/2021 21:00

All the organised displays have been cancelled round us, ‘coz of covid’, so there are far more private parties/garden fireworks than usual. Pretty counter productive, I reckon.
Thankfully my kids went to sleep fine while they were going on, but the noise is still pissing me off.

DBI78 · 05/11/2021 21:05

@fedupwithfireworks

And newsflash to anyone doing this - your home displays are utter shite anyway. Why not leave it to the professionals and give us parents and pet owners a break?
Yes exactly!!
comfortablyfrumpy · 05/11/2021 21:09

I'm totally with you OP. They drive me round the effing bend.
I don't mind so much on actual bonfire night but it's two weeks before, then two weeks after, then New Year and then random days for birthdays and goodness knows what. We had an almighty display in someone's back garden over the summer for a Christening. I'm not kidding, must have cost thousands and it went on for a good 20 minutes solid.
Ban the feckers. Certain days only for private use, or public displays only.

Mrsmch123 · 05/11/2021 21:13

I have a little one but he has slept through it all with the help of white noise. I don't mind fireworks as long as it's a reasonable hour🤷🏻‍♀️I think more people are doing their own as all the organised ones have been cancelled.

Courtier · 05/11/2021 21:20

My dog is absolutely terrified but luckily is getting lots of cuddles. It's not fun for many of us but it'll be over soon. I get it though.

Bluejayway91 · 05/11/2021 21:22

We've had two days of fireworks with Diwali and Bonfire Night, and no doubt tomorrow as well.

Luckily, my 11 month old us sleeping through but I feel sorry for the poor dog next door who's been barking since they started hours ago.

Tal45 · 05/11/2021 21:23

We did our own little display today with low noise fireworks and had smores, my autistic son loved it. We used to have dogs, one who was terrified of loud noises and could be quite destructive if alone while they were going on (and had ripped teeth out with a previous owner), we would just stay calmly with them and have music or the tv on a little louder around bonfire night and New Year. They would get a bit anxious sometimes but I wouldn't expect people to not celebrate because of it.

mawkthestork · 05/11/2021 21:27

It should be compulsory for all fireworks to be silent, there's no need for the huge bangs when silent ones exist.

I've just got the toddler down to sleep with Alexa playing white noise to drown them out so hopefully that will keep her sleeping.

BoredZelda · 05/11/2021 21:36

Why not leave it to the professionals

Because there aren’t any in our area this year and even when there were, they are shit for accessibility. Not sure why my daughter should miss out just because she is disabled. She spends her life being terrified by dogs every time we go out anywhere. For one day it’s her turn to be “inconsiderate” to dog owners.

your home displays are utter shite anyway

Really? Our neighbours all came out to see ours. My husband did a course about fireworks about a decade ago and we got a great deal on fireworks from friends of mine who run a fireworks company. The kids all loved them. We then went out for a long walk and enjoyed seeing all the fireworks other folk were setting off. Thankfully way fewer dog walkers to bother us tonight.

Sunbeams09 · 05/11/2021 21:50

My toddler has been to their first fireworks display tonight and loved it, I’ve actually found it harder to put them to bed though because they now know that the loud bangs we are constantly hearing are pretty fireworks 🤦‍♀️ The baby doesn’t seem concerned though so that’s something!

Chelyanne · 05/11/2021 22:26

Our dog stares at the sky every time she goes for a wee for days after, she's a weirdo.

fedupwithfireworks · 06/11/2021 20:57

This.

People setting them off at this time of night (when many children are in bed) are particularly selfish. Really pisses me off.

And letting off one firework every 2-3 minutes with a massive bang is just shit anyway. Like I said, leave it to the professionals.

Titsywoo · 06/11/2021 20:59

I'm not anti fireworks at all but last night teenage boys were driving around firing them out of their car windows and one hit a young girl in the face. I do think they should not be sold to the public.

fedupwithfireworks · 06/11/2021 21:01

@Titsywoo that is truly awful. I hope the police are onto it.
